Chapter 23: Tsuyo's Quest

3rd Person's POV

Tsuyo ran through the mountains as quickly as he could. He still remembered the words that his Father spoke to him earlier that morning; "Tsuyo, go to the Western mountains and find the wildflower that is green and blue. Once you find it bring it here or......you know what you have to do."

'I have to do it,' Tsuyo thought. 'If I don't, Mother could......no don't think about it.'

Finally, the young man arrived at the northern most part of the mountains. He used his nose to sniff the air for the flower he seeked. As he did, he found that the flower was higher than expected. When he went to run up the mountain, Tsuyo hit a barrier that he could not pass through. He tried running through it again but found it impossible. "Come on, I need to get through to save Mother!" Tsuyo yelled. "If I don't.....she'll die."

He had to think. What could he do to get through the barrier? Then he smelt Izayoi and the others not far away. 'Of course, they can help!' Tsuyo thought as he ran as quickly as possible towards the traveling group.

Izayoi's POV

I walked with the others as I took in the surrounding nature. Then the smell of a wolf demon. Before I knew it, I found a whirlwind heading our way. I covered my eyes as Tsuyo appeared after the dust settled.

"Izayoi," he said urgently. "I need your help."

"What's going on Tsuyo?" Kayuma asked.

"I need to get a certain flower, and there's a barrier blocking me. Iziyaoi, you have to help me." Tsuyo begged

"Why do you need the flower anyway?" Ayuma asked.

Tsuyo bit his lower lip. "It's for something very important." he said.

I looked at Tsuyo. He was hiding something very important from us. "I'll go with you Tsuyo," I told him. "We should take Kilala though. We'll get there faster."

I went with Tsuyo while the others continued with the Naraku search. When we landed on the ground, Tsuyo showed me the barrier. "This thing is hard to get through," he told me. "I don't know if you can actually-"

I reached for an arrow and just released it with ease. When it hit the barrier, the barrier disappeared immediately. Tsuyo sort-of stared and then looked at me. I smirked. "That was a little too easy actually." I said.

Tsuyo led the way through the mountains and I followed right behind him. As I did, I found out how serious Tsuyo was about finding this flower. "What exactly do you need this flower for Tsuyo?" I asked.

"It's......it's for something important okay?" Tsuyo told me.

"Look, I'm just asking a question here," I said. "But if you don't want to tell me, then I understand."

Tsuyo sighed. When we were up to the top of one of the mountains, Tsuyo stopped and looked at me. "The flower is for my Mother." he spoke.

"Your Mother?" I questioned. "Why would your Mother need a flower?"

".....This flower we're looking for is no ordinary flower," Tsuyo began to explain. "It has the ability to heal anyone from anything, sickness, injury, aging, etc. I need to give it Mother or....."

"Tsuyo, is your Mom sick or something?"

Tsuyo solemnly nodded. "And she's going to have her baby soon so if I don't do something either she'll die or my baby sibling will."

The reality of what we were doing soon sank in. We weren't just looking for some "flower", we were looking for a cure that could save the life of a child and a Mother.

After a few hours, we reached the upper most point of the mountains where a strange wildflower was spotted. "Is that the flower Tsuyo?" I asked.

Immediately, Tsuyo smirked. "That's what we're looking for."

He quickly ran towards the flower but was cut-off by a barrier. He was bounced back and hit the ground. "What the heck was that?" Tsuyo asked as he rubbed his head.

"A barrier," I said. "It must be protecting the flower. If it's just as important as you say it is, then it must be protected by some barrier or something."

"So what's the plan?"

I thought about it for a moment. "Well, I can try breaking the barrier with a sacred arrow."

"You think that'll work?"

"If it doesn't then I'll use the Red Tensoga to break it. Now stand back Tsuyo, it's going to be a little rough."

As I pulled back the arrow on the bow, I aimed for the barrier but as I did, I heard footsteps from behind us. "Hold on a sec." I said as I lowered my bows.

Tsuyo and I scanned the area for a moment and found Kanna standing not too far away with her mirror in her hands. How did I not sense her?

"Who are you?" Tsuyo asked.

"I am Kanna," Kanna spoke. "And Naraku wishes for me to take your souls."

With that, Kanna placed the mirror out in front of her and had Tsuyo's reflection in it. Before he could react, Tsuyo had collapsed to the ground with something coming out of his body. I then realized that it was Tsuyo's soul! "Tsuyo!" I yelled as the soul entered Kanna's mirror.

"You are next." Kanna told me.

I quickly moved out of the way and got myself in the trees. "There's no way you're getting my soul Kanna!" I hissed.

The young girl was persistent though and kept trying to go for my soul. As she kept following me, I began slowing down and soon I couldn't move at all. Kanna had her mirror pointed at me and I could feel my soul being ripped away from me. However, Kanna looked a little confused. She then lifted the mirror up and my soul soon went back into my body and Tsuyo's went back into his.

"What the?" I asked as I sat myself up.

"Why will your soul not come?" Kanna questioned before disappearing.

As I got myself off of the ground, I noticed the barrier on the flower was diminishing. I grabbed the little wildflower and then went over to Tsuyo, who was beginning to wake-up. "What happened?" he asked.

"It's a long story," I said. "but right now we need to get this flower to your Mother."

*******************

Kilala flew Tsuyo and I to the mountains where the wolf-demon clan resided. We landed and we were greeted by Tsuyo's two "uncles" Ginta and Hakaku. "Did you get the flower?" Ginta asked.

"Right here." Tsuyo answered as he ran behind the waterfall and into the caves.

"Hold on Tsuyo." I said, following him inside.

That's where I met a lot of wolf-demons who were sitting on the floor. Many of them stared and growled as I went by them. When I was towards the back of the cave, I saw Tsuyo go into a small room in the back. I snuck over there and saw that there was a female wolf-demon on the floor. She breathed heavily as Tsuyo knelt beside her. He had crushed the flower in a bowl to the point where it was a liquid. "Here Mother, drink this," he told her. "This will help with the pain."

The woman slowly drank the little potion and then opened her eyes. She blinked a few times before looking over at Tsuyo. "Tsuyo." she said as she held a hand to her son's face.

I smiled at the display of affection.

"Why is there a mutt girl in the caves?" a voice from behind asked.

I turned to see that there was a wolf-demon that looked a lot like Tsuyo. It had to be his Father. "Dad, what're you doing back?" Tsuyo asked.

"I asked you first son, now why is there a mutt in the caves?" Tsuyo's Father asked in anger.

'If he calls me a mutt one more time,' I thought with irritation. 'I swear I'll smack him in the face.'

"Koga," the woman growled. "Shut-it or I'll smack you."

"Yes Ayame." Koga said with some worry on his face.

********************

I waited outside the caves with Tsuyo as the hours went by. Ayame soon went into labor and was giving birth to her child. Koga kept glaring at me a few times and I glared back. He wasn't going to intimidate me.

After several hours of waiting, Hakaku finally came out of the caves. "Koga, Ayame's given birth to a girl." Hakuku told Koga.

"A girl?!" Koga and Tsuyo yelled at the same time.

"Why are you guys so surprised?" I asked.

Koga and Tsuyo were the first to go into the room and I followed right behind them. When I got inside, I saw Ayame was holding a cute little girl with brown hair and blue eyes. She looked a lot like her Mother for sure.

"Hey there little one," Tsuyo cooed as he held a finger in front of his baby sister. "I'm your big brother Tsuyo."

"Here Koga, hold her." Ayame told her husband as she held the baby out in front of her.

Koga carefully took the little baby from his wife and held it. He rocked it back and forth as the little baby giggled with glee.

I smiled at the whole scene and watched as the family of four spent time together. I then left the room and started towards Kilala, who was waiting outside for me. As I got on Kilala's back, I heard someone running towards me. "Hey Izayoi," Tsuyo said as he came towards me. "Thanks for earlier."

"No problem," I told him. "Now if you'll excuse me, I have to get back to the others and go looking for Naraku."

"Good luck," Tsuyo said. "If you ever need any help, I can be of assistance."

I blushed lightly and quickly turned away. "Sure, yeah." I told him. Kilala then rose into the air. I looked back down towards the ground and saw Tsuyo looking at me. He was smiling at me and I smiled back at him.

3rd Person's POV

Tsuyo watched as Izayoi disappeared from sight on top of Kilala. "Well, looks like someone likes that little mutt girl." Koga told his son smuggly.

"No I don't!" Tsuyo denied with a blush on his face.

"Sure you don't Tsuyo." Koga said.

"Old man, you'd better shut-up or else." Tsuyo hissed.

"Or else what?"

A huge rock then soon flew from the cave and smacked Koga in the back of the head, causing Koga to fall over the waterfall. "Koga, leave Tsuyo alone or else!" Ayame yelled.

Tsuyo sighed with relief. 'Great I was saved by Mom.' Tsuyo thought.

This took a while due to my broken leg. However, after finally being able to sit up, I was able to start writing again! The next chapter might take a while though because even though I've gotten some writing done, I'm still in pain. (Plus I started this before I broke my leg so I was just finishing this up.) Please comment and vote. Once I'm able to walk normally again, I can do quicker updates.
