Chapter 17: The Fox Hiccups
Recently, I've realized that my chapters have been somewhat serious. This chapter is just for fun so enjoy!
Izayoi's POV
"Cannon ball!" Shippo shouted as he jumped into the lake with the rest of us. We all laughed as we swam around in the water, enjoying the summer's day. As we all swam, I looked up at the cloud-free blue sky. I loved days where you could just relax.
When we were done swimming, we all began to eat. Shippo was practically shoveling the food into his mouth, like he was starving. "Shippo you'd better slow down." Ayuma warned.
Shippo swallowed his food and said "Don't worry Ayuma, I'll be fine."
That's when Shippo began to hiccup. "Are you okay Shippo?" Mochigo asked.
"I'm (hiccup) fine." he said. "There just (hiccup) hiccups that's all."
"I don't think so," Kayuma spoke. "I heard that if Fox demons get hiccups some strange things happen."
"Like what?" I asked.
Shippo hiccuped again and suddenly, the ground shook like an Earthquake. When he hiccuped again, the shaking stopped.
"We've got to get rid of those hiccups!" I declared.
"But (hiccup) how?" Shippo asked.
"Mama taught me some old remedies to cure hiccups," I explained as I pulled out a list of ways to get rid of hiccups. "Method 1: Drink a lot of water."
I found a huge pot and quickly filled it with water. "Drink up Shippo." I said. He grabbed the pot and drank the water for a few moments. When it was all gone, he put the pot down and it looked like it had worked.
"Well?" Kayuma asked. "Did it work?"
Shippo hiccuped again and out of nowhere, a tidal wave came and swept all us into trees. We sat there, soaked and annoyed. "Let's try something else." Mochigo suggested.
"Method 2," I read. "hold your breath."
"Ready Shippo?" Ayuma asked.
"I'm ready." Shippo answered.
"Hold your breath!"
The fox quickly stopped breathing and held his breath for a consistent minute. Now I'm no doctor but I'm pretty sure Fox demons aren't suppose to be blue. "Breath Shippo!" I shouted.
He quickly exhaled and panted. "Did it work?" I asked.
My answer was another hiccup followed by strong winds that knocked us all back again. I looked at the paper and read "Method 3: Bite on a lemon."
Shippo bit down on a lemon he found in a tree and I was really sure that it would work. When he hiccuped though, he spat out the lemon and a bunch of lemons came out of nowhere and crushed us! "What else is there?" Ayuma asked, getting aggravated.
"And the last Method is 'try scaring the person'." I spoke.
"Okay, and how are we going to do that?" Mochigo asked.
"I've got an idea," I said as I told Mochigo and the twins to come closer to me. "Now here's what we do." I whispered the plan to Mochigo, Ayuma and Kayuma and Shippo raised an eyebrow in confusion.
Then I smirked.
"Okay Shippo, I need you to focus on this rock," I said as I handed him a small rock. "And when I say 'look' you put the rock down. Now just focus on the rock."
"I don't (hiccup) see how this will (hiccup) work Izayoi." Shippo told me.
"Trust me, it'll work." I said with a smirk.
As Shippo stared at the rock, we all snuck behind him. I looked at the others and held my fingers up. 3, 2,1.
We all then grabbed Shippo by his shoulders, making him jump on top of a tree branch. "Did it work?" We all asked.
Shippo hiccuped in response, making us all collapse. "You've got to be kidding me!" I shouted. "It still didn't work."
We all sat there in defeat. Those hiccups were tougher than Naraku! We couldn't beat them. As we sat there though, we noticed the Shippo wasn't hiccuping. I looked at him and realized that his hiccups had finally gone away!
"I'm cured!" Shippo shouted with joy.
It would've been a celebration if Mochigo hadn't stared hiccuping a few seconds later. "Oh no." we all groaned in annoyance.
