Chapter 1: 12 years Later
Twelve years have passed by and now Izayoi is a young girl. Here we go.
Izayoi's POV
The morning sun soon rose above the hills near the village. I was the only one in the village that was awake and I wasn't about to wake-up Mama and Papa- especially since Papa isn't much of a morning person.
I tiptoed out of the hut and then made my way to the stream not far away. Patiently, I waited for the fish to come down stream like they would do every morning. I stayed still for about 10 minutes before the fish started showing up. With quick speed I used the net I had to grab the huge schools of fish that swam by. They tried to escape but I had the fish and wasn't planning on letting them go.
"That's should do it." I said to myself. I placed the net of fresh fish over my shoulder and made my way down to the village where the villagers were getting started on their day.
As I entered the village, villagers greeted me with warm smiles. "Good morning Izayoi." a man greeted me.
"Good morning." I replied with a smile before giving him several fish for his family.
"Izayoi you look beautiful this morning dear." an elderly woman commented.
"Thank you." I told her before giving her two big fishes.
I was greeted by all the adults in the village and then younger children ran around me for fun.
I stopped though when I saw Mama talking to Kaede and two other people. One was a human woman who looked to be just a little older than Mama and a small little boy who had silverfish-black hair and green eyes; he was a half-demon like Papa and myself.
Ever since the defeat of Naraku, Mama had asked Kaede to allow half-demons in the village. At first, people were skeptical but then they realized that half-demons had no control of their heritage and allowed them in the village. The half-demons that came in were mostly younger children with their human mothers but there were some older half-demons who came in after their parents had died.
Personally, I liked the idea of allowing half-demons into the village. It makes me feel good knowing I'm not the only half-demon in the village besides Papa. "You're sure that my son will be safe?" the woman asked.
"Don't worry," Mama reassured her. "You and your son will be safe here."
"Morning." I said, coming over to Mama and Kaede.
"Good morning Izzy," Mama said, using the nickname she gave me. "This is my daughter Izayoi. She's also a half-demon."
The little boy that stood by his mother's side turned his head to look at me. He seemed to study me for a moment before coming over to stand near me. He couldn't have been no more than 6-years old. I smiled at the little boy and then he did the same. His mother's eyes seemed to lighten up at the sight before her. Her son had probably been mistreated in his old village but he was going to be safe here.
"I shall show ye and your son to a vacant hut so ye may settle in." Kaede said.
The mother nodded and then picked up her son and followed Kaede to another part of the village. Her son looked back at me with a smile and a smiled back at him.
"It makes me happy to know that he'll be treated like a real person here." Mama told me.
"Yeah," I replied. "Mama, where's Papa?"
"He went out earlier this morning to battle a demon with Miroku." Mama explained.
"That explains why I didn't hear his snoring this morning." I said with a giggle. Papa snored like a dog. I think you can get the joke there.
Mama laughed. "Yes your father does snore. I honestly don't know how I've gotten use to it though."
"Mama, no on in the village has gotten use to it." We were silent for a moment before we both busted out laughing. We could joke whenever Papa wasn't around but when he was we acted like nothing was said.
"Izayoi, do you want to go with me to see Sango?" she asked.
"Yes!" I answered immediately. "I really want to see the twins and Mochigo again. I haven't seen them in about a month."
Mama smiled. "All right, get ready to get going then." she told me before walking back inside the hut.
