Hideyoshi Nagachika had barely survived that night. He'd been in a coma, and the CCG decided to make him a Quinke. He woke up only a day after the surgery, and Akira Mado was tasked with training him only hours later-- Hideyoshi Nagachika ended up being a real handful.

It seemed he had no memories, but names rolled off his tongue without his knowing. His kagune was out of his control, and he wasn't even aware of it.

Akira Mado had to first make him aware of what had happened, and then she started teaching him how to control his kagune and kakugan.

Unfortunately, they couldn't use Haise Sasaki for this, so Akira did her best, using what she'd heard from Haise as he had taught the other Quinkes.

Why couldn't they use Haise Sasaki? They were afraid it might've triggered something- Haise's past self WAS the person who had put Hide in this situation. Kaneki Ken had eaten poor, unlucky Hide and gone to fight Arima Kisshou. That was what the CCG believed. It only made sense, after all.

Now Hideyoshi Nagachika could control his kagune quite well, actually. It only took a little bit from Akira, but once he'd gotten the hang of the basics, he was a master of his rinkaku kagune.

Now he was finally being assigned to the Quinx Squad. Akira and the CCG could only hope he wouldn't react to Haise Sasaki..

Like he'd responded to Akira, Hide had whispered a name without him even being aware:

"Kaneki."
