17 | A F L O W E R

Inspired by the novel Marcelo in the Real World by Francisco X. Stork. If you have not read the novel, it may be difficult to understand the true meaning of this short poem written in prose. I have not meditated on this book in depth, therefore it is highly likely that the meaning behind the poem might be highly disagreeable or what one may want to dub inaccurate. Nonetheless.

Poetry is poetry.

I have not written in the centre margin because my computer is acting up and decided to be a cheeky bastardo today. Enjoy.

In Science, scientists, which I will
refer to as
S.
would like to think that
the part of the flower,
that produces the ovules and
is responsible for the
main part of reproduction
is the female part.

In all honesty,
we do
not
know this for sure.

We are merely assuming this
because in humans, the
'female' is responsible for
bearing children
so it's only natural for the part of the flower
which produces ovaries,
to be female
-Sarcasm

HOWEVER

If in humans,
males were the ones
to produce children
tell me
wouldn't the supposed
'female'
part of the flower then be called male.

The female being called male because
males
produce
children

Therefore,
the whole
dogma
is completely
arbitrary.
