She has a small tattoo of a sword that turns into a pen at its tip on her right ankle.
PERSONALITY
Inquisitive - Marissa is always asking questions, needing to get to the heart of every matter, no matter what. She isn't shy when asking them, and is actually quite relentless when trying to get answers.
Determined - When Marissa is working on a certain piece, she doesn't let anything or anyone get in her way. If she needs to speak to someone for an interview who has been refusing every other one, she won't stop trying until she gets the results she wants.
Blunt - Marissa isn't scared to voice her thoughts on things. Both in her articles, as well as when she interviews someone, she never holds back from voicing her true opinion. It makes many people uncomfortable, since she asks some pretty awkward questions that no other person would feel comfortable asking.
Uptight - Marissa doesn't really know how to have fun. Her type of fun is chasing down a good story and staying up late digging up people's dirty secrets for an article. She doesn't know how to relax, always tense and sitting on the edge of her seat. She smiles, but they're always small and fleeting.
Organized - Everything in Marissa's life is perfectly organized and placed into the right categories. While her apartment is spotless, since she has a place for everything, her life is also, since she organizes people, appointments, and day to day happenings into different compartments in her head.
LIKES
Journalism - Marissa knew, right from the start of high school, that she wanted to be a journalist. She always had a passion for writing, and journalism was her favorite kind. She practically lives and breathes her job since she loves it so much.
Jogging - Since her job isn't one that requires too much action, Marissa makes sure that she gets a lot of exercise and stays fit by going on long jogs every day. She goes early in the morning and\or late at night, when there aren't many people around, and listens to music.
Cats - The first thing Marissa did when she moved into her own apartment was adopt a cat from the animal shelter. Her mother is allergic to them, so she was never able to get one. She loves how they're independent and seem defenseless, but their claws can come out any moment.
Quiet - One reason Marissa goes jogging when there aren't many people around is because she likes the quiet. She's able to write in a noisy place, especially if one of her articles requires it, but her best writings are done in a quiet place, usually her apartment or the library.
Psychological thrillers - Marissa doesn't have much time to read for pleasure since her job keeps her extremely busy, but whenever she does get some free time, she will be found reading any psychological thriller. It's the only genre of books that actually grabs her attention and that she can lose herself in.
Cinnamon - Marissa loves both the taste and smell of the spice. She has a large collection of cinnamon scented candles, which she lights all the time but especially while writing and reading. Since she's running around a lot, she doesn't get much time to stop for some food, so she always brings cinnamon protein bars along with her.
DISLIKES
Migraines - Marissa has been getting migraines very often, due to an incident that happened when she was a young girl. She has medication for them, and it usually helps pretty quickly, but even for the little while she has them, they're extremely painful.
Failing - When Marissa can't get an interview with someone, or her article doesn't quite come out the way she planned, she gets into a mood. She locks herself in her room for a while, but doesn't do anything while in there.
Being unproductive - At all times of the day, Marissa is working, whether she's actually writing an article, chasing one down, or just thinking about it in her head. If a day goes by without her having written anything, she feels unproductive and scolds herself terribly.
Discrimination - All types bother her, and she's very vocal about it, both on her Twitter, as well as in her actual articles. On a personal level though, a lot of people don't take her seriously because she's a female, and a young one at that.
FEARS
Heights - No matter how many times she has tried to overcome it, Marissa is scared of heights. She's not so terrified that she can't cross over a high bridge or something like that, but she definitely won't look down and will quicken here pace until she's off of it.
HABITS
Twirling her hair - Whenever Marissa becomes lost in thought, or is reading, she always starts twirling a strand of hair with her finger.
Chews her lip - While writing, Marissa always chews her lip, something that she's always done.

HISTORY
When Marissa was only nine, she tripped while running, and hit her head hard, causing a concussion. Ever since then, she has gotten horrible and frequent migraines, and although she has medication for them, they're extremely painful. When she entered high school, Marissa joined the newspaper, and even though there wasn't much to write about, she loved doing it. Because of this, she took journalism in college. When she graduated, she found a job pretty easily and has been working at it ever since. She moved out of her parents' house, finding a small but updated apartment nearby. It will be just about a year since she started working there, and she's made a good impression on her boss. She's dedicated to the newspaper and is a hard worker.
