Chapter 6 - Hurricane
"What!?"
In a small, little, office-like emergency meeting room that Germany and Russia rented out at a hotel last minute, the countries gathered to discuss the details of Russia's encounter with America the previous night.
"It's not as bad as it sounds if we approach the situation calmly—" Germany tried to convince everyone in the most confident voice he could.
Indonesia cursed under his breath and glared at everyone with an annoyed, sleepless, face expression. "No, you know what? Fuck this, I'm out of here," he growled, getting up and walking towards the door.
Malaysia blocked him from leaving. "Stop being an idiot, you don't know where one of the bombs might be. Are you really about to risk your entire population because you're a little upset right now?" What started as a few arguments turned into an almost full-on fight between the two oceanic countries within the next couple seconds. This was pretty normal behavior for them though, and after a few minutes of restless argument and convincement from other countries, Indonesia finally gave up and sat back down at the round table while crossing his arms in clear disapprovement.
Norway sighed, approaching Germany in conversation. "So, how many countries are gathered here right now anyway?"
"Fifteen," Germany answered nonchalantly, trying to figure out how America was even able to transport something this dangerous and illegal beyond his borders.
"So then who's missing?" Thailand asked, knowing that there should be sixteen of them in total.
"North Korea," Germany mumbled out in a barely audible voice while concentrated on what their next best actions to take would be.
Norway raised a brow, laughing sarcastically, "Did you even invite him?"
Germany nodded. "I did, actually," he said in a sincere tone that surprised some of the others at the table.
Brazil clicked his tongue, putting his feet up on the table which annoyed some of the others next to him. "He's not someone who should be worried over this bomb issue anyway." He flung his arms behind his head, chuckling to himself, "America couldn't have gone to his country even if he wanted to."
"So, what? That leaves the rest of us fifteen then?" Norway asked.
"As the most probable choices, it does," Germany confirmed, and opened up his laptop with an exhausted sigh.
"Not enough pills exist in the world for me to deal with this," Finland groaned, one hand resting in his cheek.
"Maybe we should just call this off then and go back to our home countries," Philippines suggested in a hopeless voice. "Our governments can't know of this no matter what or there will be war for sure that will affect all of us. Maybe it'll be for the best if we all go home."
"Who knows if this is all true anyway? We're really just second-guessing ourselves here," Indonesia added on. A few more countries began to suggest similar ideas and soon the entire room became rowled up in arguments and suggestions. The yelling and shouting got uncontrollable and Russia finally made his appearance apparent.
"Everybody, listen!"
Everyone's attention turned to him and the chatter simmered down to complete silence in less than a few seconds. It was just something in Russia's voice that had that effect on everyone.
"While the situation seems dire for now there's no reason in us all splitting up. And for those of you who don't believe in all this, I suggest you be cautious on your way back home, because as most of us know, America wouldn't be lying about this, as crazy as it sounds."
"Yeah, he's just this stupid to go through with it, we know. We don't want to deal with this bullshit but that doesn't mean we should be in denial of it either," Thailand spoke up as some heads went down in guilt. None of this was supposed to happen and some countries in the room would suffer a lot more compared to others, but if they wanted for this to be prevented, deep down they knew they had to work together, strong economy or not.
China asked, "Can we consult on your encounter with the United States, by the way, Russia?" He crossed his arms, frowning, "I personally find it very strange that you didn't even attempt to capture him. What were your intentions that night anyway?"
"I assure you that I had no underlying intentions. I simple went out to drink, happened to see him, and then he revealed to me this sick game of his," Russia explained in his most sincere voice, "After that, I called Germany to arrange this meeting the next morning. That's it" He obviously didn't want to mention anything beyond that; how he let America off the hook during their first encounter. He also had a slight inkling over who America's secret love interest was, but didn't want to bring that up with anyone else either. He was glad he could keep a straight face while everyone was judging him at the table
China scrutinized him for a moment but let the thought fly off pretty quickly. In an unusually calm tone compared to everyone else, he then asked, "And what do you suggest we do then? Even if we do go search for these "supposed bombs" do you really think we could locate them on such a huge scale?"
"Well, maybe there's a hint to where they might be," Russia suggested.
"Also, how big of a bomb are we talking?" China asked again.
Everyone's head turned to Russia but he was really clueless to the size of them bomb as well. "Nuclear maybe, if I had to guess."
It was quiet for a moment with everyone's face either in shock or confusion. Some other countries, like China and Germany weren't really surprised. It would only make sense America would use his strongest weapons even if it was just for his twisted game.
"Is he an idiot!?" Ireland exclaimed, "That could kill some of us!"
"T-There's no way..." Japan stuttered in fear.
"Welp, I guess five of us are gonna die in three days," Brazil said shrugging, "It was nice knowing you all," he waved his hand sarcastically.
Thailand slammed his fist against the table. "This is not the time for jokes, Brazil."
"Hey, I'm just trying to lighten the situation," he muttered with a shrug and a fake-innocent look on his face.
Malaysia shook his head in worry. "If this won't cause death, then it would cause war for sure." No one wanted today it but this was true. What started out as an innocent love-play has turned into a borderline world war scenario.
"怖いいです," (I'm scared) Japan mumbled in a barely audible voice. Her voice was shaking, covered by the guilt of her previous actions.
"Our countries span thousands and thousands of kilometers. With all that landmass, there's no way we'll be able to locate them all in time," Indonesia argued.
"It's like this sick game of his was made for us to lose," Phillipines said angerly.
"Wait," Germany suddenly spoke up when he found something to his interest online, "I think I might have an idea of how we could find the bombs' exact location."
"Interrogation?" China suggested.
"No, but if you think about it," Germany explained, "America couldn't have left the country himself, right?"
Mexico agreed, "Yeah, he probably hired a bunch of people to do the dirty work for him, what's your point?"
"Well, if we are thinking on a such huge scale, that kind of transportation would've had to have happened in secret. It was probably done by an underground group as well."
"What are you saying?" Finland asked.
"If we get involved with the underground transportation business, I think we have a chance of knowing where they are."
"Are you out of your mind?" Indonesia argued, "I'm not about to go side with some criminals."
"Well, do you have any better ideas then?" Germany argued back, honestly getting tired of Indonesia's resilience to everything. "You're the fourth most populated country in the world. If anything, you should be more worried about this than the rest of us."
"He's right. If we want an accurate way of knowing where those bombs are there really isn't any other way," Norway continued.
"Since we still need to detain him as soon as we can, I suggest that we have half of us go locate the bombs and the other half be on the lookout for America."
Indonesia came up from behind Germany. "Let me see that," he said, taking the list of countries who were in potential danger.
Log of nations within US borders:
Russia
Phillipines
Germany
Indonesia
China
Malaysia
Norway
Finland
Mexico
Poland
Ireland
Cyprus
Japan
Thailand
Brazil
North Korea
Indonesia huffed, and flung the sheet back in front of Germany. "Half of us probably weren't even here to find America in the first place." Other countries gathered behind Germany to look at the sheet as well.
"Wait Poland is here?" Ireland asked and looked at Indonesia. "Oh, right."
With a deathly glare Indonesia slowely turned his head around. "Call me Poland one more time and see what happens." It was a triggering topic for a few countries who shared very similar flags to each other.
"Oh, right, Indonesia," Ireland examined, "Where's Poland then?" He looked around the room but there was no sign of him.
"Calm your tits jalang," Malaysia commented.
"You calm yours, I know you have some," Indonesia shouted back, and the two were back at fighting with each other again.
"I'm over here!" A quiet voice suddenly spoke up. Poland stood up from sitting on the ground and sketching behind Germany.
"Sorry for dragging you into this mess," Germany apologized.
"It's alright, I came for the support anyways," Poland cheered back.
Getting back to business, China asked, "So, who's gonna do what in this plan of yours?"
"Si. How are we going to be divided up?" Mexico added.
"Well, about half of us are Europeans, so we can divide that way," Germany suggested, marking everyone on the list. "We'll stay here, including Russia, and search for America, while the rest of you will be on the mission to find the bombs."
"Sounds good to me," Ireland said with a shrug.
"Anyone have any problems with that?" Germany asked. Heads turned but no one spoke up. "Okay good, I'll try to get into the databases and get the uh "bomb-finding group" directions and such," he explained and propped up his laptop again to start working.
"Ooo! We should have team names!" Ireland shouted out.
Finland loudly objected, "No."
"That's gay Ireland," Brazil said, paying attention to his phone more than to the situation in front of him.
"You guys are gay," Ireland huffed and crossed his arms. "Whatever, I think it's cool." He noticed the young boy barely anyone could recognize and walked up to him.
"Cyprus, what's wrong?"
"I'm small compared to all of you..." he said shyly, "If any of you get hit you'll survive but m-me—"
"Hey, don't worry." Ireland patted his back in confidence. "I doubt America even knows you exist." The young boy didn't look cheered up by this comment and looked more upset now than worried.
"Thanks," he mumbled.
"You know, we're like brothers you and I," Ireland said happily, "Island brothers." He looked Cyprus straight in the eyes and embraced him with a half-hug. "We'll look out for each other in this, okay?"
Cyprus nodded with uncertainty.
Meanwhile, Thailand was examining Germany's attempt at hacking into the dark web. "Everything's in Bitcoin currency," he observed.
"Of course it is. It's the black market," Germany answered back.
Norway also observed. "What if this leads to a dead end?"
"I doubt it will. People are willing to do a lot for the right amount of money," Brazil said getting up.
"From who's pocket are we taking that money from though?" China asked.
"Ours for now," Germany said, earning some worried looks from the others. "After we assure everyone's safety, we'll expose these criminals and get our money back. That's the plan at least," he said, biting his bottom lip nervously.
"There is no guarantee that that will even work," Indonesia said with concern in his voice.
"I know," Germany replied back hesitantly.
"And you just suggest for us to go through with it?"
"If it doesn't work out in the end, America will be charged with these fines."
"But five of us first have to be bombed?" Indonesia asked, clearly worried and irritated at the same time.
"This just seems all so risky," Malaysia mumbled and looked around as only quiet nods and looks spread across the room.
"I think the important thing is that we hope that this twisted game ends with our victory," Russia said quietly, but loud enough for everyone to hear, "—for all of ours sake."
