𝒗𝒊. TIL' WE CROSS THE LINE
─── INTO YOU
CHAPTER SIX...!
❝ til we cross the line ❞
LILIA LOVE was a pretty decent surgeon. She would never want to sound egoistic, but being Chief of Oncology does strike one's confidence a bit. What many people did not realize about the woman, is that she got emotionally attached to patients. And quite honestly─ she wasn't afraid to admit it.
So when her patient, Izzie Stevens, asked her to come to her wedding, she froze. Not with distraught, but with shock, joy, and a bit of confusion.
"Wait, are you sure you want me to come?" The oncologist asked the blonde "I mean, its your wedding, Izzie. I wouldn't want to intrude─"
"Yes! I'm sure!" Isobel told the woman, handing her a dress "Now put this on! We have to get there soon!"
"Okay, okay!" Lilia chuckled, taking the dress. She turned to go change, but quickly turned back for one last confirmation "Okay, but you're like─ sure sure you want me to be at the wedding?-"
"Dr. Love!" Izzie threw her hands up in the air "You saved my life. In fact─ you're still saving it. Of course you're going to be at my wedding!"
Lilia felt her chest warm up from the words falling out of Isobel Stevens mouth, as she had her lips form a soft smile, and went to go change into her dress.

"C'MON..." Lilia Love cursed under her breath, as she was trying to find ways to zip the back of her dress, with herself not being too flexible "C'mon! Just zip!"
"You okay in here?" The oncologist heard a chuckle near the lounge's doorway.
Thankfully, she turned around to see the face of her best friend "Yes, George- thank you, could you zip the back of my dress for me?"
"Yeah, I got you." He came up, his hands zipping the zipper like he was asked.
Lilia noticed his attire, a smile forming on her lips "You look so nice, George."
The resident chuckled, shaking his head, before straightening out his tuxedo a bit "And you look very nice as well, Lilia."
The two friends looked each other in the eye, dorky grins on their faces. The two had grown so close to each other, within such little time, you'd think they've known each other for several years.
George's laughter died down, looking at the oncologist through the mirror in front of both of them, before he cleared his throat, announcing something that changed both of their lives as quick as a blink of an eye.
"I'm joining the army."
As soon as those words hit, Lilia's laughter died down, but her smile was still on her lips, as she assumed he was only joking "What?"
She chuckled a bit, but then realized he, in fact, was not joking "Oh my god─ you're serious."
"Yeah─ Hunt told me about it." George told the woman, now getting slightly nervous "A-And I'm going to try to join tomorrow? If that's even how it works? I don't know. I still have a lot to learn. And I haven't told anyone yet. Not Chief, not Meredith─ I just needed to tell you. Because, I know that although you could hate me for it, you'd still be there to─"
The pale man's ramble was interrupted when Lilia Love wrapped her arms around him, squeezing him ever so tightly.
George stumbled back for a minute, tensing up, before processing the situation. He let his shoulders drop, a relieved sigh falling from his lips, as he hugged her back.
"Wow. You aren't mad?" George asked.
"No─ I'm furious." Lilia pulled away, however still holding George by his forearms "But I know wherever you get stationed to will be lucky to have you. You're going to save millions of lives, because you're just that good. You're an amazing surgeon, George. And even though you could be millions of miles away, I'll support you through it all."
George sighed, out of nothing but joyful warmth, hugging the woman once more "You have to stop with the speeches. Seriously, they make me emotional."
Lilia giggled, before her attempted stern voice came out "Okay, but you are going to call me every chance you get, okay?"
"We'll come up with a schedule." George promised, chuckling as well. He let out one last relieved sigh, straightening out his tux once again "I can't believe I just told you that and you didn't even smack my arm."
"Oh, trust me─" Lilia spoke, as she gathered her things, before the two interlocked arms "I wanted to so bad."

"DEARLY BELOVED, we are gathered here today to celebrate the wedding of Alexander Michael Karev and Isobel Catherine Stevens. This is a sacred rite, an ancient rite. As Isobel and Alex prepare to join their lives. It is important to understand that everyone present has played a part in shaping their lives, and will continue to play a vital role in their continuing future. And thus, we are here not only to witness their vows to each other, but to bestow upon them our blessing."
From the moment Izzie Stevens walked down that aisle, to the moment she kissed her new husband, Lilia Love had her sobbing face stuffed in George's shoulder.
She was so proud of her patient.
"You've used up half of my tissues already." George told the oncologist, taking another one out of his pocket, as the two were cleaning up after the wedding.
"I know, I'm sorry--" Lilia told him as her voice shook, causing George to laugh at his overly-emotional friend "It was just so- beautiful."
"Yeah, you've said that already. Three times." George chuckled again, shaking his head "I'll be right back, I'm going to go get some more windex from the supply closet."
Leaving the oncologist all alone, she finally got herself back together, as she continued wiping tables.
"Need some help?"
She turned around to see none other than the plastic surgeon that could fail to make her cheeks go pink.
She could feel herself going flustered, as she stuttered out a response "Uh- a few extra hands couldn't hurt? Unless, you don't want to. Then I don't need extra hands. But- if you want to, you can. It's up to you. No pressure."
Lilia let out a faint chuckle, quickly looking back at the spot she was cleaning to avoid eye contact, as she mentally drowned in embarrassment.
But Mark Sloan could only let an amused smile lay on his lips, as he moved next to her, where he then began helping her clean.
It was silent for a while. Lilia Love didn't like silence. She grew up on a noisy street, so that could be part of the reason. But still, she hated silence.
The woman cleared her throat, looking at the man, with her voice low "You look nice in that suit."
The man lifted a brow. Not out of uneasiness, or of the feeling of being unsettled, but of surprise. Lilia Love was quick to realize what she had said, as she stumbled a response in attempts to save herself.
"Not that you look good only in this suit. I bet you look nice without the suit." Lilia spoke, this time Mark Sloan fully turned to her. Once again, she quickly realized how bad she sounded, stumbling out yet another response.
"Yeah, I realized how creepy that was as I was saying it-" Lilia scrunched up her nose "I-I just meant- I've seen you in normal clothes- and you looked nice. And you look nice now, too. You're a nice-looking guy, is all i'm saying."
Lilia Love avoided eye contact all costs, clearing her throat as she focused back on her cleaning, embarrassment only entering her more and more.
And with avoiding eye contact, the oncologist couldn't see the dorky smile on the man's face. Before Mark could say anything, the sound of his pager went off.
"Go. I'll finish up here." Lilia told the plastic surgeon with a smile, taking over on cleaning the spot he was cleaning.
"Fine, fine." Mark sighed, as began walking towards the exit, before turning back around to the oncologist, speaking confidently.
"And for whatever it's worth, Lilia, you're pretty nice-looking too."
