𝒊𝒊𝒊. AND ALL I WANNA DO

─── INTO YOU
CHAPTER THREE...!

❝ and all i wanna do  ❞

"SO, Derek finally popped the question?" Lilia came up behind George, who was filling out paperwork at the nurse's station.

"Jesus." George placed his hand on his heart, breathing dramatically, as he didn't know she was behind him "I need to get you a bell."

Lilia let out a laugh, before going straight back to wanting answers "So, he asked her to marry him?!"

"Wh─ yeah. They're engaged now." George informed, furrowing his eyebrows, as he turned his head towards her "How'd you even know about that, anyway?"

"Mark has been keeping me posted!" Lilia told the resident, a smile plastered on her lips.

"You and uh─ Sloan have been getting really close, haven't you?" George turned back to his papers as he spoke, his face dropping slightly.

"Yeah. Yeah, we have." Lilia didn't notice his unamused look, before getting a page "Oh, I have to go. I'll see you at lunch, okay?"

"Yeah, see you" George spoke, taking his eyes off his papers for a second, only to look at her, and give her a weak smile.

She returned it with a much brighter one, before skipping off. As she was about to leave the floor, she remembered something.

"Oh!" Lilia quickly walked back to George, pulling something out of her pocket, placing it on the counter for him "Almost forgot to give you your jello!"

"WHAT'S going on here?" Lilia questioned at the sight of chief watching Izzie pace around her room, on the phone with someone.

"Meredith asked her to plan her wedding" Richard informed, pointing to the patient, signaling the oncologist to listen to the conversation.

"What do you mean you don't deliver dresses?" Izzie asked the person on the phone, continuing to walk around in circles "Just to try on? ──No, no, no I- I can't come in. I have cancer. I'm- bed bounded."

She began fake coughing, and continued in a perky voice when the person on the other line agreed to deliver "Fabulous! I will fax you my choices."

The patient turned to the doctors at her door "Hi! Uh─ what do you need? Blood? Pee? What can I get you?"

"Just checking in on you." Chief stated, giving her a small smile "Seeing how the chemo is sitting."

"Fine! I haven't puked yet, and I'm making major progress on Mer's wedding!" She spoke with a smile.

"That's great, Izzie!" The oncologist enthused, shining her pearly whites at the patient, before using a softer tone for her following statement "But, really, take it easy. The chemo is going to take a lot out of you."

"I'll let you know if I hit the wall." Izzie reassured the oncologist, before getting back on the phone.

Richard smiled at what seemed to be healthy progress for the patient, but it slowly faded as he saw the worried face the oncologist was making.

"Dr. Love?" The chief's voice was as low as a whisper, leaning down towards the oncologist "Is there something wrong?"

"It's just─" She sighed, facing towards him "This isn't good── She may be walking around now, but soon her blood pressure is going to tank, she's going to be nauseous, she's─"

"Dr. Love?" Richard signaled her to continue, worry taking over him as he saw the oncologist not being able to finish her sentence.

The woman sighed, looking at the patient, then back at the chief "In a few hours, Izzie Stevens is going to wish she were dead."

"WAIT, why were you paged? You're an oncologist, not a trauma surgeon?" George asked Lilia, tying a gown on the woman, as they were both paged by Owen.

"Driver's face went through a side window." Lilia started explaining, joyfully, going to the ambulance bay with the rest of the group "The sudden collision can cause catastrophic breaks in the DNA. The DNA can increase the chances of a cell becoming cancerous, meaning lots and lots of tumors."

She spoke excitedly, which was due to the fact she was going to be able to get a surgery, but it only made the group, including Owen, Derek, Mark, Lexie, Alex, and George stare at her in fear.

She stammered out a response, attempting to save herself .

"W-Which is terrible, and sad, and─ very, very bad."

AFTER consulting on the incoming trauma patients, Lilia was no longer needed by Hunt, as there were no indications of tumors.

She leaned on the counter, right outside of patient, Izzie Steven's, room. She ate her granola bar, as her eyes did not leave the article she was reading, until she felt a presence come up behind her.

"Dr. Sloan." Lilia greeted, smiling at the man, as he swept behind the counter.

"You know─" Mark began talking, his voice playful, attempting to find paperwork on the messy desk-counter "The use of my last name kinda stings. I thought we were friends─ close friends. The professionalism is sending me mixed signals."

Lilia only had time to roll her eyes, as the sound of Izzie Steven's monitor rapidly beeping arose.

With no hesitation, the oncologist pushed herself off of the counter, dropping her granola bar and article along the way, and ran into the the patient's room.

Pressing her fingers harsh against the side of the visually-unresponsive patient's windpipe, feeling she still had a pulse.

Bewilder took over the doctor as she saw the monitor tell another story, indicating she was coding, although her pulse was fine.

Before taking any further measures, Lilia Love's face had grown into a shocked expression when Izzie started cracking up.

"I-I'm sorry! Y-You should see your face right now. It's your totally freaking out face!" Izzie let out as she snickered, scanning Lilia's unamused look "Okay, Okay, I'm sorry. I really did need your help."

Lilia let out a sigh, as her shoulders relaxed "What- What is it?"

"I have all these dresses here and I keep trying to page Meredith to come try them on, and she won't answer the page. So- will you tell her to come in here?" Izzie asked, as if her faking her death a few seconds ago wasn't a big deal "Or ask Cristina to ask her, she'll listen to Cristina."

As Lilia Love began to go on a rant on how Izzie can't do what she just did, Mark Sloan watched through the window.

He hadn't payed attention to the scenario, and how Izzie had tricked the doctor. He only focused on Lilia Love.

He focused on the action she took as soon as the sounds of the monitor went through her ear. How she immediately accessed. And how she didn't hesitate.

Leaning towards a nurse who had been standing near him, he spoke with his eyes not leaving the oncologist "She's pretty hardcore."

AFTER one long, long shift, Lilia Love was finally ready to go home, get in bed, and call Odette.

Passing by the resident's locker room, she spotted George. With a smile forming on her lips, she walked into the room, going to stand next to him.

"Hey, George!" Lilia's voice was chirpy, as always "You heading home?"

He stared at his cubby with a blank expression, moments passing by before he finally looked at her, his voice low "Hunt said I'd be a good trauma surgeon."

"Oh my god! That's great!" Lilia gasped, her smile widening, launching in for a hug. As she pulled away, she noticed his dejected expression "O-Or not? It's not great?"

Lilia spoke, trying to figure out why George didn't seem as happy as she did with the news.

"I'll be a good trauma surgeon, right?" His voice was low, slightly shaky, which had been a tone Lilia had never heard him use. He looked at the oncologist with hopeful, but worried eyes.

Without a second though, she gave him an encouraging smile "Of course, George. You'll do great!"

In response to his face continuing to frown, she assured him cheerfully "I've spent a little over a month working at this hospital. And if there's one thing I've noticed about you, it's how you don't give up. You don't go down without a fight, no matter what anyone says. I think that's why you were so easy to befriend. You're a rockstar, George. A rockstar!"

"Wow, you─" George was lost for words, finally speaking after a minute, a small smile forming on his lips "You really know how to provide a speech when in need."

She giggled, letting George throw an arm over her shoulder, both of them leaving the locker room as if they were one person "That's what happens when you talk a lot. It's like─ an instinct."

They continued joking, loud laughs falling out of the two's mouths once in a while, before finally getting to the main lobby.

As they were about to head out, Lilia spotted the plastic surgeon she had recently been getting acquainted to.

"One sec." Lilia told George, moving out of his arm, and to Mark, who was standing by the counter.

"Lilia," Mark spoke, not looking up from his papers, but sensing her presence "Funny seeing you here."

"Well─ you know, I work here." Lilia drummed on the counter, letting out a laugh, the plastic surgeon joining her "I just wanted to say goodnight! Since we're friends─ or whatever."

Mark had finally looked up at the woman, a smirk forming "That's sweet, Lilia. Very friendly."

As they both laughed again, they had felt each of their hearts skip a beat. So far, their 'friendship' had consisted of teasing, and jokes. Along with Mark's flirtations that Lilia was yet to notice.

"Goodnight, Dr. Sloan." Lilia gave him a smile, beginning to walk back to George.

"Again with the last name, Lilia! It stings!"

As Lilia laughed one last time, she walked back to George, moving his arm around her shoulders as it was previously. And just like Mark's flirtations, Lilia hadn't noticed George's glare towards the plastic surgeon.

˗ˏˋ INTO YOUˎˊ˗

When George and Lilia finally parted ways, George heading to Joe's, and Lilia heading to her hotel room, the surgical oncologist's mind instantly went to Mark Sloan.

And just across town, Mark Sloan was laying in a bed of a hotel room of his own, as his mind traveled to the woman as well.

And they both had no idea why.
