The War Game Begins
You know, there's nothing like waking up to a fresh, bright day at UA—except when you're told you'll be getting your butt kicked by two of the scariest teachers alive. Seriously, I'm not sure what I expected from today, but this wasn't it.
We all gather in front of the training grounds at our training camp, the air buzzing with excitement, but there's this undeniable tension, too. I definitely hated it. After all, we're facing off against Aizawa-sensei and Vlad King. Yeah, you read that right—two pros, two living nightmares.
I mean, not that I'm worried or anything.
It's just that...
okay, I'm a little worried. Can you blame me?
Mandalay stands in front of us all, all smiles, too cheerful for what's about to go down. Seriously where did she get that? Did she eat something wrong or is she a sadist who likes to see other suffer?
Mandalay: Today, Class 1A and Class 1B will face their greatest challenge yet: an all-out war against your homeroom teachers, Eraserhead and Vlad King!
And just like that, the mood changes. The buzz of excitement turns into something more electric. I glance around at everyone's faces. Bakugo looks like he's just been told it's his birthday. I'm half-expecting him to start yelling about how he's going to blow everything up.
The others, though?
Yeah, you can tell they're all processing what this means. We're not fighting villains, sure, but we're going head-to-head with teachers who've been training us to survive stuff like this. This won't be some friendly sparring match.
Bakugo: Hah! I'll take them both down myself.
He clenches his fist, explosions already crackling from his palms. Classic Bakugo. If he can't beat anyone in the next 30 seconds he will be super hyper and too childish to handle. Oh please someone get the man a punching bag. He's got that whole "I'm the strongest" vibe going on, and for once, I don't even feel like pointing out how dumb that is. Let him think he can take them on alone.
Spoiler alert: He can't.
Mina: Oh my gosh, this is gonna be awesome!
She's practically vibrating with excitement, hopping on her toes like we're about to head to an amusement park, not a battlefield.
Takes all kinds, I guess.
The Pussycats stand in front of us, like this is all fun and games. Well, I guess for them, it kind of is. They're not the ones about to get obliterated by our teachers.
Mandalay: The rules are simple: Class 1A and Class 1B will work together to defeat Eraserhead and Vlad King. You can use your quirks, your strategies, whatever you want. But remember, this is as close to a real battle as it gets. Your teachers won't be holding back.
Great....
So this means we are screwed...
I take a glance at Todoroki, who's just standing there with his usual "I'm-too-cool-for-this" expression. He's calm, collected—basically the opposite of Bakugo, who's still muttering under his breath about blowing stuff up.
Todoroki's probably already thinking up some ridiculously smart strategy. The guy's like a chess master, always five steps ahead or so he would like to think of himself.
Me? I'm just hoping we can at least get through the first round without Bakugo screaming in someone's face.
Kendo: We should probably start thinking about strategies, guys. This isn't something we can wing.
Duh.
Thanks, Captain Obvious.
Mandalay: Remember, we're not just looking at raw power here. You'll need to rely on teamwork, strategy, and adaptability.
So basically everything we're bad at.
And never will be able to do ...especially team work....
I glance over at Bakugo, who's already glaring at Monoma from Class 1B. Monoma, of course, is smirking like the little gremlin he is.
Ah, teamwork.
My favorite.
Monoma: Oh, this is going to be so much fun. Imagine the glory when Class 1B outshines 1A in front of the teachers!
He's practically glowing with that annoying grin of his. Can I beat him before Bakugo does or is that too much to ask? Probably is but he is annoying me too!
Bakugo: Shut your damn mouth, copycat, or I'll blow you to pieces before we even start!
He's already sparking, and it's not even been five minutes since the rules were announced.
Yeah, this is going well....
5 points for griff.... no 5 points for idiotism!
Aizawa-sensei steps forward, his scarf lazily coiled around his shoulders like he's already planning to strangle someone with it. Not really keen on seeing that but being wrapped up is also no fun at all.... just thinking about how many times I got tangled up by this to stop fighting backugo.....urg... the shivers!!!!!
Aizawa: Listen up. This isn't a practice. We'll treat you like actual opponents, so you'd better take this seriously. No whining when you lose.
And that's when I see it—that gleam in his eye. You know the one that says, "I'm going to ruin your day"?
Yeah, that. ...
Guess we're in for a world of hurt and sandess.... someone get our crying cushions ready and bobo bandages and first aid kits ready!
Vlad King, on the other hand, just looks like he's ready to have the time of his life. He's grinning like this is the best thing that's ever happened to him. Probably is, not gonna lie....
Vlad: I expect Class 1B to show what they're made of! Don't let me down!
No pressure, though.
Todoroki: We should focus on neutralizing Aizawa first. Without his quirk, we'll have a better shot.
Thank you, Mr. Obvious Plan.
But he's not wrong.
Aizawa-sensei's quirk is going to make things infinitely harder.
The tension builds as Mandalay continues explaining the rules. They've divided the forest into several zones, each one designed to push our quirks and skills to the limit. Ambush points, traps, and "safe" zones where we can regroup—sounds like the whole thing is straight out of a video game.
Except this time, we can't just hit reset if things go south. And knowing Aizawa-sensei, things are definitely going to go south.
The real kicker?
Class 1A and 1B have to work together. I mean, sure, we've had a few team-ups before, but this is on a whole new level. Bakugo's already growling at Monoma, and Monoma's smirk isn't exactly helping.
Yeah, teamwork's going to be our biggest challenge.
Forget the teachers, just try getting Bakugo and Monoma in the same room without starting World War 3.
I lean back, listening to everyone buzz with excitement. There's this mix of anticipation and nervous energy in the air. Most of the others are already gearing up mentally, thinking about strategies, battle plans, and how to survive this with as few injuries as possible.
But me?
Honestly, I'm bored.
I glance over at Aizawa-sensei, watching as he gives us that calm, unbothered stare. The guy's barely even trying, and yet, we all know he's about to wreck us. I can already picture it—half the class caught up in his capture scarf while he looks at us like, "This is disappointing."
Yawn.
I mean, I get it.
We're supposed to learn, right?
But this just feels like the same old thing.
Fight, use our quirks, try to win.
But what about when things get unpredictable?
What about when the enemy is smarter than you?
That's when it hits me.
If this is going to be another "train-like-heroes" exercise, maybe it's time someone makes it... interesting.
I smirk to myself.
Looks like I'm going to have to take matters into my own hands.
Aizawa: Any questions?
Bakugo: Yeah, when do we start?
He's practically buzzing, ready to blow something—or someone—up. Hopefully not me cause I was ready to pay him back 10 times this time at this moment. I just had this sinister grin on my face which was close to a Cheshire smile but no one really cared about me.....the eyes were all focused on Bakugo for now.
Mandalay: Soon. The Pussycats will be monitoring the exercise, but it's up to you to win.
And so it begins....
Get ready for the unpredictable!
Let this game begin!
