Chapter 1

Chapter 1 My Dream Come To Life

I couldn't believe it when, about a month before graduating High School with the rest of the 2016 senior class, my acceptance letter from NYU arrived at my house! Mom and I jump around  in the middle of our small living room like little kids. Screaming and holding on to one another while I read the letter aloud. The letter also says I have a full ride academic scholarship, and another pack of papers detail my dorm information, adviser, and classes.

The summer before starting school I work at a small ice cream shop in town to save up money. While also getting ahead in my upcoming classes by reading the textbooks all the way through. Only the basic mandatory classes the first semester with an extra biology class thrown in.

I have all of my paperwork filled out for my scholarship, and dorm safely packed away in my book bag. The things I'm taking with me sealed up into four boxes and two suitcases, stuffed in the back of my old Maxima, waiting to go by the end of July. Then with only a week before classes start, I kiss my mom goodbye. Before heading out of this tiny town for the first time in my life to the great big city.

Once I arrive in New York City I can't stop looking around everywhere in wonder. The amount of people and buildings packed into such a small space is like nothing I've ever seen before. You always dream about what New York City is like as a kid, but nothing prepares you for seeing it in person.

I make it to the NYU campus finally, and it's  absolutely picturesque. The tree lined paths, and brownstone buildings could be an image straight from my dreams. There are so many people walking around campus, and across the road it takes me forever to find a spot close to my dorm.

It's a little difficult to find somewhere to park my car, but luckily I found a place that's not such a long walk to my dorm. I wrestle both my duffel bag and purse from the back of my trunk, and carry them on my shoulder as I go up the front steps into the building.

Once I make it to the third floor where the room I will be sharing for the next year, I instantly break out into a sweat. Which is so bad I can't possibly blame it all on the slight workout I just did. When the truth is I'm beyond nervous to meet my new roommate.

I've only ever lived with my mom, Jenny Black. I didn't know how to live with a complete stranger. My nerdy personality could be a bit stand-offish at times to some people, and if my past is anything to go by I'm a hard person to make friends with also.

I shake off my nerves before opening the door. I slide my sweaty palm down the front of my pants then grab a hold of the doorknob. While holding my purse and duffel bag in the other. I blow out a quick breath then knock once, and open the door.

Once I step inside I notice one side of the room is empty. While the other side is decked out in a funky chic look. The bed, pillow, and lamp all have the same color pattern, and the wall already has several shelves filled with books.

A blonde girl, around my age, is sitting in the middle of the bed on that side of the room. Absentmindedly flipping through a magazine, but drops it beside her immediately once she sees me. Then she squeals and claps her hands in excitement. Before jumping from the bed, and bouncing up to me.

"You must be my new roomie! I'm so excited! My name's Joss Stone. I'm a sophomore in the Pre-Law department. I hope you don't mind this is the same room I had last year, so I just kept my stuff where it was."

Joss, the excited ball of energy in front of me, is gorgeous. Blonde hair, blue eyes, and a tight cheerleader body. The generous amount of B&B (Boobs And Butt) on her body is as perky as her personality. She's dressed kinda racy for me in a halter top, mini skirt, and what I can only call a pair of fuck me heels. Perfect blonde curls frame her face, and a professional makeup job finishes the look. Making me instantly jealous with how amazing she looks.

"Nice to meet you Joss, I'm Abbie Black. I'm a freshman in the Pre-Med department. It's only fair you get to choose which side of the room you want. It was yours first, so it's fine with me." I say walking across the room to the clean, empty bed, and sitting my duffel bag and purse down. Before turning back around to give Joss my undivided attention.

I run my hands down the front of my favorite button down shirt trying to smooth out the fabric, so I will make a good impression. During the eighteen hour drive it took me to get to New York my outfit got a few wrinkles from the journey.

If my clothes aren't enough to make me feel inadequate standing in front of this beautiful woman, the rest of my appearance does. My over-sized glasses hide my brown eyes, and my hair is up in a messy bun on top of my head, so it would stay out of my face while I was driving. All in all, I look like a hot mess, and I know it!

Either Joss doesn't notice how much I'm truly lacking compared to her, or she just didn't care. She launches herself at me, and wraps her arms tight around my neck.

"I can already tell this year is going to be so much fun!" Joss says before placing a friendly kiss on my cheek. Then releases me, and helps me move the rest of my stuff into the dorm.

After that first day Joss takes me under her wing, and we become best friends. We are always hanging out together when we don't have class. Especially on the weekends. She's always fun to be around and so full of energy. Plus, a bright, bubbly personality to match.

Joss teaches me how to fix my hair, and finally look decent when I put on makeup myself. She takes me shopping for clothes and shoes. Showing me how to dress for my body type. Highlighting all my curves, and making me look hott! A far cry from the button-up shirts and bland colors I wore!

She helped me build my self-worth and self-esteem up, turning me into this new confident woman, instead of the antisocial geek from Deep Valley, Virginia I've always been. Helping me blossom into the young woman who is no longer shy, but likes to shine!
After about two months of us living together Joss decides to introduce me to her circle of friends one weekend. All three of the women are Pre-Law like her. Olivia Buckle and Nina Cassidy are 21 and look almost exactly alike. With the same short black hair and natural face.

The final member of the group is a girl named Tess Moss. She's around Joss's age, and the two of them have been friends the longest. They meet in the early years of high school, and have been friends ever since. In my opinion, Tess is the nicest one out of them!

The first weekend we decided to all go out together, the other girls take us to a  nice, swanky club like I'd never seen before. All five of us look smoking hot, and I have the best night of my life. Dancing with any and everybody, trying a shot, and just enjoying myself!

The second time we all get together they take me to see my very first show on Broadway, and then through the famous Time Square. Joss and Tess want to make sure I get to see as many of the famous sights around town as they can. I mean, the number of frat parties alone these girls drag me to can be a tourist attraction on their own!

I didn't share Joss's sentiments at first, but as the year slowly passes I catch myself doing just that. Having the time of my life! By the end of my first semester, I have a 4.0 GPA, and an active, thriving social life. Something I've never allowed myself to have before.

But that's just one of the problems with growing up in such a small town, the littlest thing can turn into the most outlandish of rumors.

Thank God I'm not living through that anymore!
