Weird Kid Part 1

I quickly got out of the tree, making sure that I didn't touch him. My friend stared at me weirdly and asked me what was happening. Surely I didn't know myself, and neither did he so I said a simple sentence. "I am taking him home." She looked at me crazily and decided to give into my insanity. I went back into the tree to wake him up, or to check if he was alive, and sure enough he was, but barely. When we brought him out of the tree we saw dark rings under his eyes and his unnatural paleness, probably from lack of, well everything. We ripped off the vines that he was wrapped in, and he let out a small gasp. We stepped aside and waited for him to wake up but he stayed asleep.

Cautiously I went back up to him and gently picked up his limp, cold body and told Jalie to check our surroundings to make sure it was clear. She nodded and I walked without ease into the bright opening and saw only a few people, who were walking toward some scattered cars on the faded blacktop. We snuck around the rim of the forest and decided to make our way to our houses. Jalie and I are neighbors, and our houses were near the school, on another side of the forest. It was a convenience, especially since I was a latch-key kid pretty much everyday. As we approached my house Jalie took some pictures of plants and the woods, so she didn't come out empty handed. My key was hidden under a shoe in a bin outside the door, so we got into my empty house easily.

We sighed, and I put the boy on my bed and stared at him for a while until Jalie broke the silence." I am having a sleepover." I nodded to her and sat on the bed beside the boy's feet. I took off his shoes and placed them near the door of my room. The time passed quickly and before we knew it it was evening, and my parents were coming home soon. We decided not to turn on the lights and leave the bedroom in darkness and stared at the boy anxiously. " I am going to wake him up." I said in a rushed tone as I went up to his chest to listen for a heartbeat. He had one and it was slow and steady and very quiet.

"Hmmmn" I said looking at his face. I put my warm hand on his forehead and felt how cold he really was. I gasped and hurried to my closet to get a pair of clothes. I put a blanket on him and he stirred, which made us sigh in relief. "At least we know he is still alive." At that moment I heard my dad open the door. "Hello?"

My father was home. I saw the horror on our faces and immediately threw a blanket across the boy. "What are we going to do with him??" She whispered to me as I started shifting my gaze around my dark room. "Don't turn on the lights" I whispered back to her as she nodded her head. "Jalie and I are in my room dad!" I shouted downstairs to him in a late response. I picked up the boy again, but this time he shifted and wrapped his arms around my shoulders. I jolted, but shook it off and put him under my bed with the blanket wrapped around him.

Luckily my dad just went back outside to make some calls, which always made me sigh. Jalie and I were a bit relieved about his lack of inspection and I reached my hand under the bed and felt his hand. I tried pulling him out but he wouldn't budge. "Ugh, what's he stuck on?!" I said pulling harder. Finally he came out from under the bed, and to my surprise he was latching onto the blanket shivering. "Woah is he okay?" Jalie said looking at him shivering. "I don't know really. Maybe we should tuck him back in bed." I said lifting him up again. He was about our age, but he looked a lot younger sleeping. I guess people are younger when they sleep.

"I think he's waking UP!" Jalie shouted pointing at him, stirring in bed and gripping the blanket more violently. I ran to the side of the bed to try to fasten his waking and Jalie decided to join as well. Then something happened. The boy. He started crying... This startled both of us so we decided to hug him. We don't know why but it was worth a shot. He wasn't sobbing in the normal sense, rather tears were falling down his face and he was... just crying.

"Hey it's okay, wake up." Jalie said nudging him in the arm under his jacket. Personally I was wondering why he wouldn't show his arms, but that was besides the point at the moment. He fluttered his eyes open and looked around until his face met ours. "Ahhhh!" He shouted grasping his chest and slowly raising his voice as fear and tension were building up. "Woah! Calm down!!!" Jalie said waving her hands in a don't scream kinda way. "What's happening? Are you KIDNAPPERS?!"He said trying to get back under the bed, cowering at us like we were about to murder him. "What! No, we found you in a tree." I said getting closer to him ever so slowly. "Yeah she is right. We were just trying to help!" Jalie taking a step back and almost tripping on our backpacks.

"Are you guys sure?" He said still shaken by his lack of knowledge, and as he was about to calm it looked like he was about to freak out again. "I-I wh-who am I? No no no no no no no... this can't be happening, why is this happening to-" He stopped halfway through his chattering looking lightheaded. "Are you okay?" I said quickly running to him before he started wobbling and before I knew it he was in my arms again, but this time I had a lot more questions about the mysterious boy we found in those woods.
