The last straw
General POV
Unaware of the silencing charm Leo put on Adrika, Mads was freaking out. He could not hear anything from Adrika's microphone. What if she is in trouble. He was not going to loose his love after all this years of waiting. Everyone were asking him to calm down. Leo was silent. But he could not anymore, as seeing Mads so miserable he told about the silencing charm.
"A silencing charm.. On herself.. And you didn't tell us about it? Do you have any freaking idea how dangerous it can be?" Mads said in a dangerously low voice. In different time it would have intermediate Leo but at that time he stood his ground.
"You are not the only one who is worried. You are not the only friend she has. You aren't the only one with a responsibility Maddox. I do too. Your job is to protect her and mine is to help her. And help I did." Leo said stepping close to Mads.
"Yes.. You are right Leonard it's my job to protect her. And for that I need to have every information. Specially when we are in enemy camp." Mads said.
"She requested a charm. I obliged. That's all I did. I know you love her but think Brother. She doesn't need your constant protection. Think who she is. She is a legend Mads. She can take care of herself. So stop being so dramatic." Leo said in the same voice.
"Commander I think Uncle Leonard is right. You need to trust Mumma's decision." Aadi said to calm the situation. Mads nodded at his favorite student.
"But still I am worried for her. She should be out by now. What could have she found out?" Sam said. Mads's longing eyes moved from his face to the door.
"We should prepare for what comes next. Stop scaring everyone Sammy. Hell will break loose once Adrika comes out of that door. So who had the exist plan?" Dean said.
Nothing could consult what Mads was feeling. He was restless not because he didn't know about the charm, but he was worried about loosing her again. He just got her after so many days. After so many nights. She could not just leave him again.
"You can't leave me again Adrika. Not after all these years." He chanted in his mind.
Mads wasn't only one who wished Adrika didn't put that silencing charm. Adrika herself was wishing the same. The facts she was finding out was too intense for her. She was secretly wishing for any of her friends or Dristadyumn to be there to listen with her. Yes! in her mind she was already calling him Dristadyumn. But he wasn't the only one who was familiar to him. Juro was laying on the ground laughing. Maybe at the irony of their situation. They were again face to face. He was a long lost friend. He was the warrior who she respected. He was the warrior with whom she practiced. Who once lift weapon to save her. He was also the warrior who killed a part of her. He was also the warrior who killed her sons inside of her. Her most uncertain acquaintance. Her friend. Ashwathama. Her mind was not in order. But her heart filled with sorrow for the man. He was brilliant. He was once most respectable young prince she knew. What in the heaven's name has happened to him? How could such a man became this? Adrika could see the pain behind that laughter. She walked to him with shaking steps. She never blamed Ashwathama for what he did to her. She knew this for ages. Why would she blame someone else for her choices? She sat down beside him. His maniac laugh hasn't stopped yet. Adrika suppressed a rising sob down her throat and very softly she called him.
"Kumar!"
Juro stopped and sat immediately. His eyes softened, as he looked at Adrika's beautiful blue eyes with gold and green flakes. It was always been really fascinating for him. During their long discussions over various matters he always focused on those dancing forest green flakes. He remembered the amount of gold flakes increase when she was happy. This often happens when she talk about Nakul. When she was angry the orange orb around her pupils move rapidly. And when she was sad how it turn icy gray. Ashwatthama was shocked when first time during war he realised the woman he never thought of having any kind of relationship, he knew a lot about her. It was the first time he realised he did care about her. It's not like her beauty, her knowledge didn't attract him. But untill then the only emotion he ever felt about her was respect. During war they still remained friends. He met her time to time. And after realising her existence in his life he felt an unknown happiness when she came to see him. The food she used to brought taste even better. She never said his name while addressing him. He always called him Kumar. It was very appropriate yet felt very intimate to him. The notion that she loved him in some way was exciting for him. After killing her he realised all these time he was in love with her. He wanted her to hate him but she didn't it was killing him all this time. Today again that name. After ages still the same goosebumps.
"Don't call me that.. He died. With you." He said in a harsh voice. Tears rolled down Adrika's face. Juro turned away from her. For some unknown reason her tears bothered him.
"Kumar.. What happened... What happened with you.. How..!" She couldn't finish the question.. There were so many things she wanted to ask.
"How I'm here?.. Why I'm here? Why don't you ask yourself? You are the reason I'm here.." He spat out.
"I am?" She asked in confusion.
"I told you Adrika. I told you not to make me hurt you. I told you I will become a monster. Shiv and Shakti supposed to exist in a world simultaneously. If not, neither would survive." He said looking dead in the eye.
"You survived.." Adrika said in a low voice.
"Oh really... You wanna see how I survived. I lived a cursed life because of you. I survived... But see at what cost."
Juro said in a low rumble. And his face started to change. Like a beauty charm his unrealistically handsome face started to turn into something else. His flawless tanned skin turned light blue due to the infected puss covered wounds. His beautiful black eyes were red and blurry. He was something you cannot look at and not feel disgusted. Adrika's eyes closed. She could not believe she was seeing the same man she knew. The curse. Bhrata Krishn's curse was what she read. But she never imagined what the curse would look like. It was right in front of her eyes.
"Don't close your eyes. Don't turn your face. Look at me Adrika. Look what you did to me. I'm a monster. You made a monster."
Juro said while forcefully tried to make Adrika look at him. She opened her teary eyes and looked. But he felt like he failed again. Last time when he wanted to see anger and hate in those beautiful eyes there was peace. Now he wanted to see disgust and guilt. Yet again there was sympathy and sorrow. Why would she feel sorrow for him? She hold his gaze and slowly rose her hands to his face. Her fingers had a green light. He jumped at her movement but she hold his face and muttered some healing incantation. Of course it was temporary yet Adrika wanted to do something for the man who has been suffering for ages. Juro moved away from her.
"I do not want your pity." He spat angrily. And his face changed to the same handsome one.
"I don't Pity you Kumar. I feel your pain. Once we were friends. Once we cared for each other. Once we respected each other. For that sake Kumar, this time I'm begging you, stop. Don't do it. It is not very late. No harm is done. I will find a way to cure you. I will ask Bhrata Krishn to forget everything. I will tell him that all these centuries of suffering was enough revenge for my death. We will find a way, we will cure you." Adrika said in a tone of urgency and believe. She actually wanted to help him.
"I already found it. It's the baby Adrika. Can you sacrifice that for me? Like you sacrificed me for your sons once?" He asked with a maniac smile on his face. Adrika moved back. Baby? Her baby? The child she is growing in her body right now.?
"Sacrifice the baby... My baby... Fragment of my Nakul's love?.. Sacrifice it...? The child for which my Subhadra gave her life. How could you think of it? How could you utter such a word... Evil...you are evil..." She said almost like a low murmur.
"How could I?.. You are the one who made me this. You are the one who choose for me.. You and your brother. This is your real face O! So Selfless Adrika Idivita. You are afraid of atonement Prakritikanya. I guess like your own mother, you also feel you are oh so pure and righteous. Get down from your high horses Queen Island you are just as selfish as Maharani Gandhari when she asked for forgiveness for her Son's sins. As Rajmata Kunti, when she asked Angraj to spare her sons. Your husband included. Huh... Your coward Husband."
Something snapped inside Adrika. No one insults her husband. The man she loved with her own life. No one says a ill word about him in front of her. In sympathy she was tolerated all his insults towards her but he made a mistake by bringing Nakul to it. She looked up to him. Her eyes were still filled with tear but this time there was no sadness, as it turned to anger. She was angry. Juro was delighted to see this but for a moment. She wasn't enraged for herself but her husband.
"Karn, Pitamah and Bhrata Duryodhan could not touch my Husband because of their blessing to me to be Akhandspubhagyavati. But that doesn't mean he was saved because of promises. If so then I don't remember you being binding by any, why didn't you stand in front of the sword of my mighty Nakul? I forgot you only kill in the dark..." Her last line was a taunt to his whole existence. She continued in more calm tone than before.
"Yelling lies in top of your lung again and again will not make it the Truth Kumar. Truth is no body choose for anyone. It's your own doing that made you this not me. You blame me to lessened your pain but the truth is no one twisted your arm to come for my boys. No one asked you to kill Dristadyumn. No one asked you to kill me. You did that. Because you choose to do that. What happened to you is the consequence of your deed. No one but you to blame. You are not the Kumar Ashwatthama I know. You are Juro. Then listen to me Juro, this child will be born and it will leave a long happy life like my Seven sons. I promise you that you will not see the face of this child."
"Again... Wrong decision again.. Then you will not leave from here. You are right the child will be born. But for me."
Adrika knew all the reasoning was over. Nothing she could say will affect Juro anymore. The hook is over now it was time for crook. Adrika looked around her. The old stone walls were awfully strong. The only weak thing in between was that door in the middle. All she had to do was go through the door. She took her pendent with silencing charm and pulled. When Juro took one step towards her, Adrika wasted no time before conjuring her fire. She put out her burning hand up and said
"Don't take a step towards me Kumar. Your very touch is sinful.." Towards end her eyes were burning.
The moment Adrika broke that pendant they could hear her and it panicked them a lot. Aadi was running towards the door while Acton yelled.
"Don't go there Son. The door can only be opened from inside. If you try your mother will be trapped forever. Have faith, the plan is just."
"How could you say that.. I need to help her..." Aadi yelled.
"Her is of the queen Adrika that's makes it just..." Acton said in a low rumble.
"Come on Adrika... Come out... Come out..." Dean was chanting.
"Oh damn.... Fire..." Leo said as his eyes were golden.
Then there was a blast. Such terrifying blast that indicated no one could escape out. Aadi fall on his knees yelling.
They all were shocked and none of them could apprehended what just happened. Dead. Adrika is dead.. Just like that. How it could be.. But that was in front of them. The fire that says it engulfed the extraordinary Adrika. Mads could not believe that was what he was seeing. Could that woman be dead just after knowing about him.. Without telling all her secrets. Just dead. No one but Dean was rational enough to utter a word.
"Guys... We need to get out..." He said.
"I'm going in. My mother didn't abandoned me and I will not too. Don't try to reason with me Uncle Dean." Aadi said standing up.
"Be reasonable Aadi. She is not in there. And she would not want you to go in." Sam said.
"Even if... Uncle Sammy... Even if.. At least her body is in there. You all go. Get out of here. I'll bring her." Aadi yelled the first word then said calmly.
"She isn't dead you baffling baboons... Stop mourning so fast.. I can sense her. She is alive.." Leo yelled at the top of everyone's voices.
"What... " Dean asked.
"Look.. "
Leo said pointing at the door and after a second they saw a red figure running out of that door. Everyone took a breath of relief. She ran to Mads and said
"I know everything.. He is..."
"Adrika.. " Dean cut her in the middle "we will catch up later. Now let's get the hell out of this."
"Right... He wants all of us dead." Adrika said.
"Then we have to fight our way through this. Come on run." Mads said. "Meet me at the end of this hall way. I will check the rest of the ways real fast."
They all started running but they met a big group of Juro's trained assassins. There were hunters, Witches and ghouls. Fight endured. Sam and Dean kept most of them away from Adrika who herself was fighting a group of assassins with Aadi and Acton. Leo was single handedly getting rid of the witches. But they were severely out numbered. A ghoul was about to take a bite at Sam when someone ripped him apart. And there he was. Mads. With animalistic rage on his face.
He literally ripped them apart. Torn into pieces. Limbs apart. Guts spilled out. He was just a wolf then. Because no man could do that. With his destruction they were able to get past all of them. They were running down another ally way when Adrika felt a sharp pain in her stomach. She gave a yelp and fall to ground.
"Mumma...!" Aadi said as he sat down with her.
"Adrika.. Get up.. You need to fight it. Adrika.. We need to go.." Dean said in desperation.
"I can't.. The pain.." She wasn't able to talk properly.
"Alright.. I'll carry her." Sam said.
"Mads, Leo and Aadi must be free to fight. Let's go." Sam said picking Adrika up in bridal style.
They were just in a hall of main entrance but there were a bigger group than before was coming. They were at least 100 of assassins coming closer.
"We can't fight them all." Dean said.
"No you can't. So go." Acton said.
"What?.. No.." Adrika yelled.
"I can give you enough time to escape. It's the only way. I'll try to come out." Acton said.
"No.. You will be caught." Adrika pleaded.
"I know."
"We will come back for you." Sam said.
"That's awfully kind of you my boy but no you will do no such thing. Adrika, I'm glad I served you. But time is of the essence here my baby girl.. Take care of everyone Dristadyumn... We will meet again. Now go." He took of his jacket and covered Adrika in it.
It was particularly hard for warriors like Aadi and Mads who were trained all their life that no one should left behind. But they had to left Acton behind. At the door they all looked back and he gave them a smile and a nod before turing to the assassins surrounding him. A smiled came to his lips.
"I so missed it." He said while rolling his sleeves.
While running to the car they heard screams of people. It was the sound of Acton killing. They all had their suspicion that Acton was a warrior not a business man but they never expected him to be a ruthless killer. But the moment Adrika knew the truth about Juro she also knew about Acton. She understood why she could trust him. Why he choose him. All the answers were in front of her now. All she needed was saying it out in front of her loved ones. Her friends, son and brother.
"Bharta Krishn..." She whispered into Sam's chest.
Several miles away from all this chaos in a lotus white room sat Vasudev Krishn. Watching everything in his subconscious. His hands were white by gripping the metal flute so tight. He was bound to this place. Refrained from going to his sister's aid. Watching her suffer untill this moment. The evil that had been warded against him was now reviled.
"It's almost time my Adrike. It's time for me to join the action. You did great until now. But from now on you will not be alone. Your brother is coming to you."
