All the cards on floor
Adrika's POV
Life had been pretty unpredictable for me lately. It's been throwing me of the guard. In million years I could not have imagined to see my son again. But there he was just mere centimeters away from me in the back seat of a car. I didn't know what I was feeling. How could I know. I never felt so whole before. I knew my Aadi didn't like when someone stare at him. But I couldn't help myself. I could not take my eyes of him. My son was back.
"Mummaa...!" He said finally being irritated.
"Sorry sugar... But I.. You are back to me." I said trying to touch his hair but he moved away. Oh yah.. His touch phobia.
"Aww.. Look at you." Emma said looking at us from the rear view screen while Sky drove. He was unrealistically silent. I understood. What he could possibly contribute to this situation. Aadi was no one to him.
"Emma, what's the intel on Acton?" I asked.
"Well. Our guys sent me a video I thought we could check first thing in the morning tomorrow. We got Aadi today. Let that sink in first." She said. I nodded and resume looking at my son. This time, his reflection on my side of the window glass. He noticed and put his head on my shoulder. It blocked my view but now he was holding my hand.
"I love you Mumma.." I heard him whisper before I close my eyes nonchalantly for the first time in this world.
After a while I woke up as the vehicle stopped. Aadi was sitting back up and we were in front of house. I wasn't sure why but I never able to consider it home. Maybe because it was Sky's place and he was never a really accepted me. Maybe because my home was in old town. Paradise was my home. I was sure if I could I would have taken my son to Paradise instead of Sky's place. We walked inside. Aadi was familiar with the place because of course he was watching me all these time. I still could not believe I didn't realized it was my own child.
"It's late guys. We all are tiered too. Why don't we order in and turn in early tonight." Dean said. Aadi looked down at me.
"No.. " I said. I hold my son's hand. "I will cook."
"You sure Ree.." Emma asked.
"I'm totally sure Emms.. I will cook for my boy." I replied.
"Let's do this then. You guys go freshen up. Me and Rika will show Aadi his room and start with dinner." Sky said.
"I'll join you soon guys." Leo said and jogged to his room.
So did everyone. I saw Aadi looking back Mads and him giving him a different look. Instructive look. There was no way for me to know what was that about. I saw Aadi tried to make a move towards him but Mads gave him a stern look and he backed down. My Aadi who never given damn about anyone practically gave a submissive bow to Mads, a complete stranger. Mads caught my look. And hurried away into his room. I looked at my son, he was not affected at all. What was I missing in this scenario? Sky was walking towards a room I never bothered to check before. It was end of the hall from my office towards the greenery covering the property. I bet this room has a view of forest. But when I walked into the room I made a mental note to thank him later. This was perfect for my son. It was black and darkish. Little light but beautiful.
"Here it is." Sky said.
"Wow.. Its beautiful." I said. Then there was an uncomfortable silence. "Sugar why don't you get freshen up and join us for dinner." Aadi nodded. We both walked out.
"That happened to be a perfect room for Aadi. Totally to his liking." I said as we walked down the hall.
"It was supposed to be our son's room as he hits 20 I guess." He said.
"She prepared it?" I asked
"Yes. She did. She.. Somehow she knew our son will like that kind of room. That he wont be a ray of sunshine." He said with a chuckled.
"A mother knows. Aadi.. Well he was like me. He IS like me. Dominative. Courageous. Full of fire. Somewhat explosive. But vritti.. Oh no. Sir.. She is the perfect little princess. She was just like her father. pure. Calm and full of light. And you know the strange thing. I knew during my pregnancy that exactly how they would be. I'm not surprise Sky that your wife knew how her son would turn out." I said.
"She is you Rika.. Can we not talk about her in a third person?"
"No Sky.. I'm not her. You were right. I know Aadi showing up here made some change in your perspective about this. You are feeling like you are loosing your wife even more. But you have to know I will be gone by the end of this."
"How can you know that? Maybe this is how things now. Maybe you are what I will end up with."
"I know it because something your wife didn't tell you. She is a mystery that you haven't solved completely. But I know there is light at the end of the tunnel. Your idea of ending is myth. This world is myth. Reality is in that room. My son is the reality. I am his mother that's reality. I died that is reality. He buried me that is reality.
And at the end of the day I belong in after life." I looked into the room we left Aadi. "You wanted to know how I know this? Because I promised my family that they will feel my soul in the soul stream of The Island on the lamp festival. I promised my ancestors, that I will take their blessing there. I promised Iravan that I will meet him again. Because I promised a stubborn man who loved me more than anything in his world that we will spend our next life together, while he was dying in my arms. And I will keep that promise to him, doesn't matter our next life is after life." He nodded. I hoped he gets that.
"I respect your decision. Frankly I haven't been a model husband material either." We both laughed.
"No.. No you haven't. But you have done enough. You are doing more than enough. Sky Nikolai Herbert I officially thank you for your hospitality, care and support. Not only to me. To my son as well." He nodded again. Suddenly he stopped and said,
"Wait, the Prince consert didn't die in that war."
"I wasn't talking about him. There was another one." I said smiling before walking to kitchen.
"You had a boyfriend at that time.. Wasn't that illegal or something back then... Adrika.. Wait.." He came yelling. I was preparing food. "Who was it?"
"Drop it.." I said.
"No.. Tell me... Please.. Please.. Adrika.." He pleaded.
"He was a friend and he was a Prince." I said while taking out things from refrigerator.
"yah... I know that but who was the first boyfriend in the history."
"He was not a boyfriend. We were not 15. We had a lot in common. And as multiple marriages were common he was logically allowed to fall in love outside of marriage. But before he could know what he was feeling I got married. We remain friends after that. He was practically family. Then one weak moment for him came, he was near death so he confessed. I cannot say I did not love him but I loved my husband and I remained loyal to him. He became my escape hatch because he did not expect anything back. I still love him. When everything will be over I will return back to him. I promised him a life time." i said. I so wish Distadyumn was here.
"who was he Adrika?"
"Dristadyumn." i said closing my eyes and a tear escaped.
"Did you called me?" I heard Mads voice, he was asking from his room door.
"No everything is fine here." I yelled back. And started making dinner.
General POV
Aadi never thought meeting his mother would be like it. To be honest he never gave a day of thought to this. He just wanted his mother back. Now he wasn't the only person in her life. There were too many people and he needed to be there with all of them. But the thing that threw him off guard was finding another familiar face.
After Adrika and Sky left him he took a shower and wear a pair of pajama pants and sweater that his mother got him from Leo. He was the only one who had clothes nearly his size. All the other men were too big for him. He realised someone entered the room. His hands went to his Katana and he swing it but it was stopped by an elbow blade.
"Easy there Kid!" Mads said.
"It's you... I know it's you." Aadi said.
"Of course it's me. You think you are the only crazy one who loved your mother."
"She doesn't know. Why didn't you tell her?"
"Because.. Your uncle put me in this position. I can't tell her. She has to know herself. She isn't been herself. Her powers are gone. She got Earth back. There are four more. I guess you will have the fire and ther...."
Mads stopped as Aadi fling his arms around his neck. That hug surprised him. Mads put his hands on Aadi's back and pat it. He knew behind all his courage, hardness and temper, Aadi was just a boy. He was a scared little boy in this new and much scarier world. He was all alone for a very long time. For Aadi, he just came for his mother but found his mentor too. For him, the mere presence of Dristadyumn, even if as Mads is reassuring.
"Ok.. Ok.. Alright.. Alright Son.. Alright my boy.. You are ok.. I'm here.. Ok.."
Mads said in a soft voice while Aadi cling to him. The boy never showed this vulnerable side to anyone. Not even his father. Mads knew he owe this much to Nakul after his lifelong of kindness and acceptance knowing his feelings for Adrika. He was going to take care of his son. Like his own. Aadi slowly left him.
"You made this far.. What's the problem.. I'm here. I won't let anything go wrong. Right?" Mads asked. Aadi nodded.
"I will serve you again. In this fight. We will win again. For my mother and your love. This is your time and I will see thorough it that you get." Aadi said going down on one knee and holding his blade.
"Good to see you again Aadi.." Mads said helping him stand up.
"You too.. Commander."
"Mads.. Call me mads ok.. Let's go. I told your mother that I was going to get you for dinner."
"You sound like such a Dad.."
"Tell me I'm sounding like Your Dad, and I will jump from that window."
"Nah... Not Baba.. He never talk harsh."
"Yah.. You got your mother for that."
"Exactly.. "
They talked their way to the kitchen. Everyone else were there. Adrika managed to make a feast for her boy. As they sat down for food Sky was pouring wine. While he was about to pour Aadi some,
"No.. He is underage." Adrika said.
"It's ok Adrika.. it's home with us." Mads said.
"No, I won't let my teen age son drink. He will have his first Drink with his father when he is 18. There are traditions." Adrika said. Everyone looked at each other. No one had the heart to tell her how she was wrong. It was a clear indication that she missed so many years of her son's life.
"Mumma...!"
"What?" She asked absentmindedly cutting meat.
"Mumma I'm 21." Adrika looked up to him. She realised her mistake.
"Oh... Yah.. Years past for you.. Yah. Right.. You were 14 then.. Yah.. Silly of me. Sorry beta.. You can have what ever you want." Adrika said.
Everyone were silent. Sam while wandering what to say looked at his brother. He was eating like nothing happened. Sam always tolerated Dean's unhealthy attachment to food but now, while they were experiencing such a difficult moment, it was incentive of him. He elbowed Dean to stop him. Dean looked at him with questioning eyes. Sam gave him a pointed look then around the table. Dean saw and sensed the awkward moment. He knew only way he could go back to his food was to defuse this tension. He put down his fork as if saying 'i have to do everything'.
"Hy kid? Have you ever had a beer?" Dean asked Aadi.
"No sir.. I only had wine. Mumma had wine in her collection." Aadi said.
"Great.. Now you are at age. Your mother is here. God mother. And us two amazing uncles. It's a good opportunity for you to have your first beer. What you say Adrika?" Dean asked her. Adrika looked up to Dean. How thoughtful his effort was.
"I would love that." She said.
"Awesome. Sammy go get a beer for the kid. And me." He said pushing Sam out of the chair.
Adrika had the moment she thought she missed of his son's life. Nakul wasn't there, but Dean and Sam did their best to teach Aadi about drinking. She smiled through the whole dinner. Later that night she was standing at the window of her Son's room watching him sleep.
"What are you doing here?" Emma asked.
"Watching my whole world in a single frame."
"Kids are really special. Aren't they?"
"Yah.. They are. He loves you too. I saw it in his eyes. Just as he used to look at Subhadra."
"I know. I'm lucky to have a son. If he go to a ball and take me as a date, I wouldn't be the oldest aunt in the room. That's so cool."
"You think our son won't get a date? And have to take his god mother as date?"
"Yah. You are probably right. He will break so many hearts. How was he in his teen ages?"
"Exactly like this. My children didn't had a normal childhood. All their lives they were preparing for war. I would not be surprised if they didn't thought anything beyond the war. Before meeting me they actually didn't. They didn't had any plans after war. So the time I had with all of those boys I made sure they find something that isn't war. I tried to nudge them towards being their own person not just accessories of war."
"You did a damn good job Girl. You raised the amazing princes of history. All of them had a successful life after war. They contributed to the society like you wanted. I know how hard it is to not able to see them doing it. But you gave them lives and purposes. Be the proud Mama you deserve to be."
"I failed him. He is here. Again searching for a fight."
"No Ree.. He isn't here searching for a fight. He is here searching for you. His mother."
"That boy is everything for me Emma. My whole world. What if something happen to him here?"
"Then he has two mothers to save him this time."
Adrika and Emerald stood there as sisters. They didn't know what was coming. Yet they were sure they will find a way to fight back. Adrika never depended on anyone, but she was thankful that Emerald was there for her. She may not be the strongest protection, but she sure as hell was the cunning one. As Adrika knew the enemy they were against was not going to play fair. So having someone like Emma was much more better than having another warrior. She was wrong. Emerald wasn't Subhadra or Droupadi. She was Emerald and she was her own person. In the coming war she was going to fight for her. Adrika knew the gravity of that position but she was sure that her boy now had another mother to look after him. She didn't know yet how her son was here but she knew there will be an logical explanation. And her brother will give her at due time.
