Chapter 7: The Shock

Aspect woke up staring at the a healing center wall. His ankle throbbed, and his hands shook as he remembered the torturous events of last night. Eden noticed him waking up, and walked over to him, in that strangely graceful manner. "Good morning, Aspect." "Morning... why am I still in the healing center?" "Well, you took a beating last night. I figured I'd let you sleep. You can go to your training after I check you over, okay?" "Sure, I guess." murmured Aspect. He let Eden press his cold stethoscope to his chest and shivered as the doctor checked him from head to toe. "Open up!" Aspect sighed as Eden inspected his mouth. After the doctor was satisfied, he helped Aspect up. "Okay, take it easy today. Your ankle is mostly healed but I want you to be careful." Eden said. "Yes, Eden, but I have a question. Are you ever allowed to go back home? Do you have a family?" "Oh- yeah... my name outside this dump is Renis. Renis Babblos." "Babblos?" "Yeah..." Aspect could tell he had touched a sensitive subject. "See you soon!" he said as he left the room. "Hopefully not to soon!" called Eden.

"What happened to you?" asked an amused looking Gethen. "I broke my ankle..." "Huh..." said the blonde telepath. "I want you to practice something... new today. Do you know Brant?" "Jolie's fiance!? You guys really are ruthless..." "Maybe we are, but don't forget you are one of us now." "Good morning Gethen." said the surprisingly soft voice of Brant. "B-but how? I thought your mind was broken...?" He only received a small sigh from the elf. "I am going to show you how to make a fake mindscape." After hours of practicing, Aspect was able to spot the difference between a fake mindscape, and a real one. When he was walking to his dorm room, he bumped into an elf. Their hood fell back revealing the last elf Kenric would expect to see in the neverseen.
"Terik?!!!"
