Chapter 2: Hideouts and Doctors
Fintan's cold smile dripped with venom as he sliced through the bonds on Kenrick's hands. Kenric immediately tried to get up and gasped as a searing pain coursed through his body. "Uh, uh, uh. We wouldn't want your condition getting any worse, although I'm not sure how it could." Kenrick scoured his brain for a decent comeback, but none came to his foggy mind. Fintan stepped closer to him and ripped off the gag. His lips felt dry and cracked, but he managed to ask one question, the only one that mattered. "W-where is Ora?". Fintan smiled once again, but it was dry and emotionless. It only succeeded in making Kenric squirm. "She'll be fine, Kenric. Though I can't say the same for you if you don't listen." Kenric held his breath, and Fintan motioned for him to stand.
"You're such a pathetic little King." Kenric felt himself being lifted off the ground. He suddenly remembered that he could just transmit. As if Fintan could read his mind, the Pyrokentic spoke. " I wouldn't transmit if I were you. It would be a shame if you were caught, and I had to dispose of your pretty little girlfriend." Kenric internally cursed. Fintan use telekinesis to lift him into the air, and a ring of fire appeared around his neck, centimeters away from his skin. "Move and you die. No talking either." Kenric shut his mouth and his adrenaline began to dissipate. Everywhere hurt so much. Burns raced all over his body, and shards of crystal were buried into his skin. Not to mention his right wrist, which felt like every bone inside it had been broken.
Fintan leaped them to a cavern. They were on the bottom floor, but there seemed to be hundreds. The place was shaped like a giant cylinder. A huge spiraling staircase was in the middle of the place-hideout probably, thought Kenric. The walls were black and carved out of crystal. The staircase seemed to drip with shadow-flux. On every floor, there were 10 different doors, that all looked the same. The staircase branched to every floor. Kenric looked up to see a far-away white ceiling, with the Neverseen symbol burned into it. There was an evil, but impressive feel to the whole place. It made Kenrick feel sick. Fintan took him to the 16th floor. He knocked on a door, and an elf completely shrouded in his black cloak answered it.
The room was clean and seem to resemble a healing center, certainly not what Kenric would expect from Fintan. Fintan dropped him on a cot and he yelped. Handcuffs were attached to his ankles, and hands, and were chained to the cot. The elf who had opened the door came back, in a doctor's coat and Neverseen cape. A surgical mask covered the majority of his face. The elf slipped on gloves and walked over to Kenrick. He popped open his mouth and stuck a thermometer under Kenric's tongue.
Fintan spoke then "This is Eden, he will be tending to you, when your training goes awry." "Wait! What training!?" said Kenric, spitting out the thermometer. Fintans eyes flashed with anger. He came closer and dragged one hand on the former Councilor's cheek, burning him. Kenrick screamed and thrashed. Tears spilled from his eyes. "Do you understand what happens when you disobey me?" Kenric frantically nodded. Eden approached him and whispered, "Stay still." Kenric swallowed when the doctor filled up a syringe. Without warning, the elf spun around and plunged it into his neck, and everything went dark.
