Twenty Six

The next few days are full of trails that offer spectacular views. You saw the ruins of an old castle, that looked entirely magical in the fog of the mountains. Now you have dozens of photos of wildlife, including elk and a blurry shot or two of a black bear that you were wise enough not to stalk through the woods.

Your skin is darker with the sunlight, and you have never felt so refreshed. Your hikes have been like exercise for your soul and now you feel so much more alive than you did when you started your vacation in the Great Smoky Mountains. This was most definitely what the doctor ordered for your boring life.

With more trails under your belt, you've learned quite a bit more about hiking. You've also met some pretty amazing people along the trails who have imparted their wisdom to you and helped you become a better outdoorsman. Now if you wanted to try some of the harder trails, you're fairly sure you could do it with minimal concerns. You even sort of know how to tell when bad weather is headed your way.

Maybe hiking will even be something you continue to do in the future.

Soon enough, the end of your vacation is upon you. You pack up and head out the door, a smile on your face and happiness in your soul.
