Twenty One

You head back down the trail, going as quick as you can, until you finally have service again. Immediately, you call the rangers of the park, reporting an injured hiker along the Rainbow Head Trail. You agree to meet them at the trail head, so you can lead them back to her.

The rangers bring a golf cart with them, and supplies to wrap up a sprained ankle. You drive with them back to the falls, but when you arrive, there is no sign of the crying woman anywhere. The rangers tell you they will look for her, and you're welcome to wait for them, or head back to your cabin. They thank you for calling them for help, saying it could have been dangerous if you'd tried to help her and ended up injured too.

Since it's gotten so late, you opt to walk back to your cabin and wish them luck. As you turn back down the path, you catch a glimpse of a large fish in the lake as its scales reflect the light of the sun. It's gone almost as soon as you notice it.

By the time you get back, it's very late in the evening. You make yourself food and take a cool shower, washing away the grime of the day. After such an exciting day, you're not sure if you want to head out on any more unguided trails, but it did make for some amazing pictures. You can always decide in the morning.

You head to bed, tired and a little worried about the woman who went down the path all alone and disappeared, but confident that you did the right thing. When you wake, you have another decision to make.
