Chapter 2

As they walked, the sun finally began to wake up, and give them a warm kiss. The moment the sun touched Kyo's hair, the color began to change from maroon to a reddish-orange.

This highly interested Obito, and he voiced his thoughts to her. "Your hair. It's changing color." She gave him a strange look, and twisted a piece of hair in her hand, looking at it.

"Yeah. Doesn' yours?" She stopped to look at his hair, surprised. "Uwa~ it didn' change color, like mine! I think you're kinda weird, mis'er." "And why is that." Obito replied, slightly agitated with the young girl's rudeness.

"I'm not sure yet." She answered after a while. "I think it's 'cause you're different from me." Obito's eye twitched. "Everyone is different from one another. No one will ever be the same." He replied, trying to be patient. They started walking again.

"Really?" Her voice squeaked at the end of the sentence. It annoyed Obito very much. He took in a deep breath, and turned to her. "Do you have a family? Or friends, or whatever."

Kyo shook her head. "Nope! But I'm glad I have you here, mis'er. I didn' know there was anyone like me b'fore!"

Obito eyed her strangely. Just who is this kid? Did she get raised by wolves, or something?

"Tell me about your life, Kyo. I want to get an idea of who you are, and where you come from."

She hummed, then shrugged. "I don' really remember. I jus' woke up, and saw you there!" She had her arms outstretched, describing him as if he was an angel or something.

He sighed outwardly. Seriously, he had his own problems to worry about. He didn't have time to figure out this girl's amnesia for her.

But how could she remember Taki, then?

"Tell me anything you remember about anything in your life." Obito stated firmly. Kyo grinned up at him. "Are you a bad guy? B'cause mama told me not tuh give away 'pers'nal information'. She said that they will take me away!" She made a scary face.

"Tha's what they look like, see?" She bore her little teeth to him, and made a growling noise. Obito rolled his eyes. "Psh. Honestly." He mumbled under his breath.

Realizing she had just told him something valuable, he shook her hand to get her attention.

"What about your mother?" He asked. She stared straight ahead. "Mm, I don' really remember much about her, but.. I do remember that she had pretty purple hair that sparkled in the night! She sang me a song b'fore I went to sleep, and she had a really pretty voice! But.."

She stopped walking, forcing him to stop as well to look at her. "She's starting to fade away.. I don' really remember wha' happened to her, but.. I don' think she's coming back." She finished.

She looked up at him with her bright blue eyes reflecting off of the sunlight, and beamed. "But I'm really happy! Because y'know what? I have you, and that makes ev'rything a ba-jillion times better!" She let go of his hand, and began to run ahead. "Woah, don't go too far a-"

Obito stopped himself from finishing the sentence. He cleared his throat. "Keep close to my side, or else I will leave you behind." He ran ahead of her, leaving her about twenty feet behind him. Kyo gasped softly, and ran back up to him.

"Wait, mis'er! Wait for me, wait!" She caught up to him, and let out heavy breaths. "You're fast, mis'er." She got ahold of his hand again.

"Mister." He said. "Wha'?" MisTER, not mis'er. You're five years old, aren't you?" He said accusingly. "Mm hm. I'm five years old, you remembered!" She said excitedly, ignoring his previous criticizing comment.

He realized that, in fact, he had remembered. He shook his head. Why was he even helping this kid? Ever since Taki's death, he had never given love of any sort to anyone. So why did he decide to let her come with him?

Also, what excuse could he give when the rest of the Akatsuki saw that he brought home a little girl with him for no particular reason?

Soon enough, they had arrived. "Woah~ this place is huge! Is it all yours, mis'er?" "No. This is the Akatsuki's hideout. Many people live here with me."

"Can I live with you, too?" "No." "But-" "No." "Then why did you let me come with you?" ".... I'm not sure yet. Just be quiet when we get inside, and don't talk to anyone." "Why?" "Because they'll kill you." "Oh."

They opened the front door, and Kyo marveled. "Wow-" "Shut up." The first thing Kyo saw when they entered was the living room, and it was very open. She let go of Obito's hand, and explored for herself.

He watched her reaction to the kitchen with a slight smirk. Her jaw dropped, and clasped her hand over her nose and mouth.

Dirty dishes were stacked up in the sink. It looked like they haven't been washed.. ever.

The counters were cluttered, and the table was a mess. The floor around her was filled with trash, and the air was foul-smelling.

Her nose wrinkled, and she sighed. "Eww, this is really kinda gross." She whispered. She looked around, and without asking for Obito's permission to do so, began to clean it.

Kyo cleaned up the trash on the floor. She took the trash out, and replaced the can. She swept the floor, and wiped it.

She cleaned up the trash on the table and counters, then organized the items strewn across the area. She wiped down the table and counters, even the cabinets, refrigerator, oven, and microwave.

Kyo then washed the dishes, dried them with a towel, then put them away. She opened the window up to let out the bad air.

Then she cut a few lemons in half, then left them on the windowsill, to freshen the air. To be completely honest, she had to climb up on the counters to do most of her work. It was kind of funny.

Obito's eyes widened. It looked exactly the way Taki made it look whenever she cleaned it. The lemons, the way she cleaned. Everything.

Kyo stood back, and admired her work. She turned around, and grinned at Obito. "See? Isn' that much better?"

They heard thumping down the stairs, and they saw Itachi coming down. He overlooked Kyo, and stared at the kitchen. He looked over to Obito. "The kitchen. It's as clean as it was when she was here."

Remembering what Obito said about how the members would kill her, she froze in shock. Trembling, she silently lowered herself until she was sitting in fear on the floor.

Itachi had finally caught sight of Kyo, and blinked. "Who's this, Obito?"
