Chapter 16
Kyo's hair bounced up and down, along with each step she took. She was heading towards Hidan and Kakuzu's room, skipping the whole way.
She grinned to herself. In the short time that she had been here, never before has she seen these two people; or really heard about them. She had only heard of them described as "scary", and to "stay away from them".
She jumped in front of the door that she guessed was their shared room. Kneeling down, and bending over, Kyo peeked through the bottom of the door gap. All she heard was fighting. She wasn't sure what it was about, but it sounded violent.
Giggling, and standing up, she lightly knocked on the door three times. The sound of fighting stopped abruptly, and footsteps thumped toward the door.
The door slammed open, and a silver-haired man leaned against the door frame. Confused, he looked around. Kyo cleared her throat, causing him to look down in surprise.
He furrowed his eyebrows. "Who are you?"
She sensed a dangerous aura coming from this man, and held her hands behind her back nervously. "Ah, I-I'm Kyo."
The man whipped out his scythe, and held it close to her neck. She took in a deep breath, and held it, staring into his magenta-colored eyes.
He cut her on the face, leaving a bleeding scratch. Her breath was let out all at once, and she was tempted to reach toward her face, but didn't.
The man bent down, and grinned at her widely. "And I'm Hidan," he whispered, licking the blood off of his scythe.
Another set of footsteps came towards them, and a hand came slamming down on top of Hidan's head. He immediately jumped up, and got angry.
"What the hell was that for, Kakuzu!?"
A masked man with strange eyes came into Kyo's view. "Idiot. You nearly killed Obito's little girl."
Hidan put his arms around his neck. "Obito's little girl.. how stupid. He should have let me kill her right when we first laid eyes on her."
"I would gladly bring you to our leader and tell him what you were about to do. I'm sure in that case I would never have to see your face here again."
Hidan growled, knowing he was right. He turned his head to Kyo, and in an annoyed voice, asked, "What do you want."
She looked down, then up. "You both 'ave very pretty eyes, misters." She shifted, anxious.
They remembered when she had said something similar to them the first time they met.
Hidan sighed. "Is that all you came for?"
"N-no.." Kyo wiped at the blood on her cheek. She was about to say something, when Hidan interrupted.
"Then go away, little sh-brat." With that he slammed the door in her face.
Her face flushed red in anger, no longer nervous. She was annoyed that they weren't listening to her.
"Hey, I was trying to be nice." She pounded on the door, shouting, "Now open this door right now, or you're going to regret it!"
She could hear Hidan laughing out loud, then yelled back, "Hey, you're starting to sound like Konan! But we don't listen to brats like you. Now go away!"
Kyo growled, almost as if the wolves had taught her more than just running and hunting. She punched the wall by the door, infuriated. She was unaware of the fact that it left a hole right through.
Clenching a fist till her nails dug into her skin, she screamed on the inside, frustrated with this pair; especially Hidan. No one is that rude to her, and slams the door in her face. No one.
She was going to teach him a lesson. Respect "Obito's little girl".
She punched a hole through the door so big that she could fit right through it. She stomped inside, and balled her fists together tightly.
Hidan's jaw dropped at the sight of Kyo. Kakuzu punched Hidan on the shoulder. "I told you not to mess with Obito's little girl. As your punishment, I'm going to let her beat you."
He looked at the hole in the wall and the door. "I'm not paying for that," he said, pointing at it.
Hidan continued to stare unbelieving at Kyo as she came stomping towards him.
He backed away, until he was sitting at the end of his bed. "Hehe.. you didn't think I really meant what I said, right?"
She folded her arms across her chest, leaning in on his face. "It really hurt my feelings when you didn't listen to me."
She nudged her face against his, then pat him on the head. "I forgive you, Hidan."
Walking away, her shoulders slumped. "Sorry. I guess I'll have to miss lunch today then." She whispered, thinking that they didn't hear.
Hidan's head raised, slightly confused. "Why miss lunch?"
Kyo turned back. "Ah, I don't know how. Obito said I'm not allowed to kill rabbits anymore, and to just eat "normal food"." She shrugged. "I don't know what normal food means, but he said that I should get some help."
Hidan sputtered, unbelieving as he scooted towards the end of the bed, facing her. "W- you've never-" He stood up, and took her by the arm, leading her out of the door with Kakuzu silently following. "Then we're going to show you right now. Real food is the best!"
She wasn't walking fast enough for him, so he threw her over his shoulder. An "ugh!" sound was made when he did it.
"Careful, Hidan, you might choke her, and then we'd be in big trouble. Little ones are fragile." Kakuzu warned as Hidan ran down the stairs.
"Oops!" Hidan called mockingly, not caring.
He slid into the kitchen, putting Kyo down. "I still can't get over how nice it looks.. almost as if she was here.."
Shaking his head, he took Kyo by the hand and had her sit on top of the counter to watch.
"Now," Hidan scratched the back of his neck, embarrassed, "We don't really know how to cook that well, so don't judge. Itachi's the only one that can get close to good, so maybe you should've waited for him."
"I don't mind," Kyo answered, kicking her feet.
As Hidan began to gather food, Kakuzu walked up to Kyo. "I see that you have gotten better with your speech."
She tilted her head to the side. "I guess so."
Hidan snickered, as he brought out a knife, looking over his shoulder at the two. "Who wants to bet that she gets worse at her speech when she's around Deidara?"
Kyo sat up at the sound of his name. "What do you mean?"
To answer her question, he shouted, "Un!" at her, then couldn't contain himself and broke out into a fit of laughter.
"Well I think his speech impediment is cute!" Kyo clapped her hands together.
"It's actually not very cute once he says it all the time," A soft voice said, and they turned to see Sasori there, arms folded. Deidara growled at Hidan.
"How dare you make fun of me,-"
At the same time as Deidara, Hidan shouted "Hm!"
Hidan grinned, turning towards Deidara. "So what brings you here, Deidara-chan?" He said mockingly.
Deidara clenched his fist, but Sasori stopped him by taking hold of his hand and squeezing it tight.
"We could not find the scroll that Obito asked for," he said, annoyed.
Kyo piped up, "Oh yeah, that was because he made that part up!"
"What."
"It's true!"
"How do you know that," Obito walked in the kitchen. Everyone looked at him.
"I could see it in your eyes, Obito! You were looking to the left when you said it, which meant that you lied."
Everyone could see a red tint grow on Obito's face. Blushing hard, he stuttered, "H-how much do you know about me?"
"Lots of things!" Kyo chirped, making Obito cover his face with his hands, he was so embarrassed.
Hidan and Deidara began to giggle.
"Tell us everything, Kyo," Hidan said.
"Everything, un." Deidara followed.
"Well, he dreams about Taki a lot.."
Both men burst out laughing as Obito covered Kyo's mouth. "H-how do you know that?!" He whisper-shouted, blushing.
Wind caught in Hidan and Deidara's throats, and they just about died on the floor. Kakuzu and Sasori chuckled at Obito, and he just stood there.
"How do you know that- that-"
"You still love her?" Kyo asked softly, putting her hands on his cheeks. His eyes widened, and he looked down, nodding slowly.
"You think she doesn't love you anymore, up in heaven?"
"Yeah."
She wrapped her arms around him, hugging him.
"Then she sure does have a surprise for you, then." She whispered.
