(Y/N)'s POV

I brushed my (H/C) hair out of my face and listened to Sans speak with Toriel.

"-don't think she remembers." I heard Sans say. There was a reply from behind the door, but it was muffled. I slowly and quietly made my way closer. I hid behind the rock that was located next to the ruin doors. I could hear Toriels voice too, but I had missed her last reply when I was moving closer.

"Not exactly." Sans said sheepishly.

"Why not?" Toriel asked. Sans sighed sadly and messed with a leaf.

"I think she likes Papyrus to be completely honest." He said glumly.

"Oh... Are you sure?" Toriel asked. Sans nodded but then remembered that Toriel couldn't see him.

"Pretty sure. She hasn't actually said that she does but..." He trailed off. I wondered who he was talking about.

"I still think you should tell her." Goat mom told Sans. He looked down.

"Have your nightmares gotten better?" Toriel asked Sans after realizing that she wasn't going to get a reply from him. I was really curious on who this person was that they were talking about.

"No. They keep getting worse, actually. Everyone I love dies and I'm helpless." Sans told Toriel.

"Well, from what I've heard, you aren't as helpless as you are in your nightmares." She said to the skeleton. I was still crouched down behind the rock, listening intently. I felt guilty but couldn't help myself.

"Yeah. It still hurts seeing everyone die. Especially (Y/N)... It's worse when she's the one doing the killing though." He admitted. I covered my mouth and fell onto my butt. A twig snapped and Sans went silent. I mentally cursed myself and held my breath. My heart was racing. I let out a small breath of relief when he started talking again.

"I don't know how long I can take it..." He murmured. Toriel said something else but I was already running away. I felt terrible and guilty.

I've been giving him nightmares...

I eventually arrived at Box road and collapsed on my knees, while panting from the run. I pressed my hand on the save point and saved.

Giving people nightmares isn't exactly something you do if you want them to like you. Chara said. I rolled my eyes.

What do you want Chara?

Just checking up on my favorite pet.

So I'm your pet now?

Of course, (Y/N). You always have been.

I can practically see the grin. I muttered in my thoughts. Then I saw Chara standing in front of me. I shouted and scrambled backwards.

"WHAT THE HELL?!" I exclaimed. They doubled over in laughter.

"Y-you should see your face." Chara said in between fits of laughter.

"How are you.." I trailed off.

"I'm projecting an image of myself into your mind basically." They told me. Then I looked looked left as I heard the sounds of running footsteps. Sans appeared a moment later, with a worried look on his face.

"What happened?" He asked. I looked up at him from where I was laying down in the snow and smiled innocently.

"What do you mean?" I asked, playing dumb.

"I heard a shout." He said.

"Wasn't me." I told him.

"Why are you down there in the snow?" He asked. I put my arms behind my head and crosses my legs.

"I'm just relaxing. You know, just minding my own business." I said. Sans didn't look convinced. Suddenly a look of horror went over his face and he looked at me wearily.

"Hey kid... What's your LV?" He asked and I immediately say up. He took a step back.

"Sans..." I murmured. I felt like my heart had been torn out of my chest. He didn't trust me. After everything. He still didn't trust me.

"I told you he didn't actually care about you." Chara said from behind me.

"Just answer me." Sans demanded.

"Same as always. One. I haven't killed anything. You don't trust me... After everything you still don't trust me." I murmured and I stood up. I brushed myself off and started walking away.

I felt a hand on my shoulder.

"(Y/N)... I didn't mean it like that... I just..." Sans trailed off and I shook his hand off.

"I just need to be left alone." I told him and walked off, with Chara following me. I eventually got to Snowdin and I saved. I checked my money and saw that I had 275 G. I had most of my G from the monsters in the ruins. I was kinda glad that Chara reset. Which reminded me.

"Chara how did you reset. When I was about to delete the game?" I asked. They smirked.

"Finally you ask. Well, when you were panicking, I made you black out and I used your soul to reset." Chara told me. I huffed in annoyance at being used like that and walked into the inn. I didn't want to talk to anyone. I simply wanted to be by myself and think. I payed for a room and sat down on the bed.

I pulled up the menu and found that I couldn't leave.

"I hate you Chara." I told them and they laughed.

"I hate you too, pet."

Eventually, I fell asleep and woke up with a jolt. I didn't remember anything except for the feeling of fear. I sighed and did my morning routine. When I was done, I changed into (Favorite/Outfit) and sat back down on the bed. Chara had disappeared so I assumed they just stopped projecting their image into my head.

"So much has happened lately." I murmured to myself. It was true.

I had entered the game, had nightmares, met Chara, almost had Flowey kill me (I'd have to warn Frisk about Flowey wanting their soul later), gotten magic, Sans killed me, I had an incredibly realistic nightmare of Chara killing a bunch of monsters including Sans, and I had gotten sick for a week or two.

Now it seemed that after everything, Sans still didn't trust me. Although, I honestly didn't blame him. If I had nightmares of someone killing my friends and brother then I probably would be a little weary around them.

Then I wondered about who Toriel and Sans were talking about when I was eavesdropping. Sans had wanted to tell her something, but he said that "she likes Papyrus."

"So if Sans can't tell this mystery person something because she likes Papyrus then does that mean that Sans likes her?" I wondered to myself.
But I don't know anyone who's been hanging out with Papyrus." I murmured.

"Maybe they're meeting in secret." Chara said as they appeared next to me. I shrugged.

"Maybe."

"Oooor... Maybe it's you." Chara teased.

"You don't have to rub it in my face that I have a crush on the guy at every chance you get." I whined. They laughed.

"You like the guy and so you kill him and his friends. It just doesn't make sense." Chara said and I winced.

"I just..." I trailed off as I realized there was no excuse.

"I don't know why you don't let me take over your soul. We could be so powerful together... Yet you've let sentimentality get to you." Chara murmured. I stood up and stretched.

"Well, I'm going to go check up on Frisk." I said and walked out of the room with Chara following me. I waved goodbye to the inn lady and went next door to get some food. I left a space open in my inventory just in case and strolled through Snowdin.

"Have you figured out how to teleport with your magic yet?" Chara asked.

Why did you even give it to me? I asked mentally, not wanting to seem insane by talking to thin air.

"So when I take over I'll be powerful and because your my pet. I keep my pet happy." Chara stated as if it were the most obvious thing in the world.

You're so weird. You know, I always assumed you would be cold hearted killed. But now I know you're a cold hearted killer with a soft spot for your pets. I was unable to keep the sarcasm from my voice. Chara laughed.

Well anyway, how am I supposed to teleport? I asked.

"Close your eyes at first. It'll help. Activate your magic in your eye and focus on where you want to be. As long as it's in the same universe. You can't go to your apartment from here. Not unless I let you." Chara explained to me. I thought of the emotions I had whenever I saw Sans die. I felt anger towards Chara for killing him, even if it was jut a dream. I felt slight panic at knowing that Sans could die by my hand in reality. Knowing that I'm just Chara's pet. Just their puppet. But I kept up a wall of determination. I knew that as long as I stayed strong, Chara couldn't control me. I felt my magic activate in my eye and I looked down and walked into a secluded part of Snowdin. I concentrated and closed my eyes. I thought of a place I spent a lot of time and felt weightless. Then I felt gravity again and collapsed on the ground. I coughed and looked around.

It worked.
