F O U R T E E N
(Y/N)'s POV
I was in the kitchen with Papyrus making spaghetti with him and making sure he wasn't putting any glitter in it. Frisk was hanging out with Undyne and Alphys while Sans was probably asleep at one of his jobs.
"Uh... Don't put that in there." I told Papyrus and took the bottle of glitter from his hands.
"WHY NOT?" Papyrus asked, a little disappointed.
"It's not exactly edible." I said and Papyrus and I continued cooking. I was cutting up some olives when Chara started talking.
"Ugh. Just cut his head off already. I'm bored. You've been hanging around the Underground doing nothing useful or destructive for a week." Chara complained as they sat on the counter, watching me with an annoyed expression.
"No." I said quietly, so that Papyrus wouldn't hear me.
"Just take that knife and kill somebody." Chara urged me. I put the knife down and glared at them.
Chara I meant it when I said that I wasn't going to kill anyone. You're not going to get control over me so you may as well let me leave the game. I told Chara mentally and tried to get my irritation under control. I was short-tempered and didn't want it to turn into anger.
"And have you delete the files? Of course, you're probably too stupid to even do that. Putting the icon in the recycling bin doesn't delete the game, idiot. Just the shortcut." Chara explained to me. I huffed as my face went red in embarrassment.
I wasn't thinking straight, okay?
"Sure." Chara said, obviously not convinced.
"(Y/N), ARE YOU OKAY?" Papyrus asked as he noticed that I wasn't doing anything.
"Y-yeah. I'm fine." I said as I finished cutting everything. I handed the bowl of now cut up olives to Papyrus.
"You finish up the spaghetti, okay? I'm going to take a nap on the couch." I told him.
"YOU'RE ALMOST AS LAZY AS SANS." Papyrus whined. I laughed and lay down on the couch. I fell asleep to the sounds of Papyrus cooking spaghetti.

I walked down the hallway with a smile on my face. I stopped as a figure came into view. My smile widened as I tightened the grip on my knife and stepped forward. The skeleton's left eye had a bright blue flame in his eye and he was wearing a red scarf along with his blue hoodie. His eyes were full of hatred.
We had done this before. We had done this a million times.
You're going to have a bad time... Dirty brother killer.
Then the battle started. I lunged at him over and over again and he attacked me. I dodged all of his attacks expertly. He summoned his Gaster Blasters and they shot rays of light at me. I dodged them too. Soon, the short skeleton grew tired.
I walked forward with my wide smile plastered on my face. I looked down at Sans, who had no hope left in his eyes. All the anger and hatred from before had died out.
As I was within a foot of him, I stopped. There was something in my mind telling me no. Something that told me that what I was doing was wrong. I didn't have to kill anyone. Especially not him. I felt something for him? No. I needed to kill him. I lunged forward and slashed my knife across his chest.

I jolted awake with a startled cry. I was breathing heavily and found it hard to control my emotions. A few seconds later, I was a little more calm, but I was still crying. I was in Sans and Papyrus' house but it was dark. It must be night. Frisk stirred on the other side, but went back into a deep sleep a moment later. Then I heard a door open on the second floor and footsteps came down the stairs. It seemed that there was someone else who wasn't such a heavy sleeper.
Papyrus walked up to me and put a hand on my shoulder.
"Nightmare?" he asked in a quiet voice. I nodded.
"Sans gets them too." he told me and I frowned as I remembered what Sans told Toriel.
"I'm fine now. Thanks foe checking up on me. You should get back to bed." I told Papyrus who looked at me with a concerned expression. He started to say something but a cry came from Sans' room.
"I'll go check on him. You go back to bed." Papyrus told me and he ran upstairs without waiting for my reply. I tried to stay awake but eventually, darkness engulfed my vision.

This time, I didn't have any nightmares. When I woke up, the first thing I remembered was my nightmare. I winced and automatically wished that I had forgotten it.
Chara wasn't controlling me. That was all me. I was doing the killing. It was me that killed everyone.
Seems like someone's a little upset. Chara pointed out.
Did you give me that nightmare? I asked.
Yep. Oh, I've got a surprise for you.
No thanks. I don't want a surprise.
Oops. Too late. You'll see soon enough.
After that I couldn't get Chara to answer me so I stood up and streched. I seemed to be alone in the house. I couldn't even find Frisk. I sighed and went into the bathroom to change into my clothes. (Authors Note: I know that they don't actually have a bathroom, but just go with it okay?) I felt bad for staying at the skele-bros house but they insisted and I honestly didn't have enough money to stay at the inn with Frisk.
I brought up the menu and found that I still couldn't leave. I sighed and left the house. I walked to Waterfall and found Sans at his post. I had no idea what he was supposed to be doing, but he was currently sleeping. I tapped his shoulder.
"Hey Sans... Wake up." I said loudly. He opened his eyes. (Somehow. It's weird because he has no eyelids.)
"Hmm?" He asked drowsily.
"Whatcha doing?" I asked and he yawned.
"Well, I was sleeping." he muttered.
"Sorry... um... are you alright? I woke up last night right before you did. What happened?" I asked.
"Just a nightmare." he replied.
"About what?" I asked. I wanted to know if he dreamt about the genocide route again.
"Do you really wanna know, kid?"
I nodded and he sighed.
"I had another nightmare about you. We met in the judgement hall and you killed me." he told me, his voice emotionless. I stared at him. He had the exact same nightmare as me.
"You're joking right?" I asked, shocked.
"Not this time."
"I had that exact same nightmare." I told him. He looked surprised.
"The last four times too?" he asked. I was taken aback.
"Wha..? You mean... You've had that same nightmare five nights?" I was shocked. I had no idea it was that bad. Sans nodded.
"I haven't had a nightmare before last night since I was sick." I told him. His said something, but it was too quiet for me to hear.
"What?" I asked.
"That you remember." he said louder.
"What do you mean?" I questioned.
"I mean you've been having nightmares almost every night. You'll wake up screaming. I have to calm you down quickly because sometimes you start to.. change." Sans told me softly.
"How so?" I asked quietly.
"You start to get this terrifying expression on your face and you'll start to laugh. Sometimes you lash out at me and I have to hold you back with my magic until you calm down. I think... I think Chara has been trying to make you weak so they can get control."
"Why didn't you tell me this before?"
"I didn't want to worry you." Sans admitted a little sheepishly.
"I'm sorry..." I whispered.
"Don't sweat it. There's nothing you can do." he said.
"I shouldn't have made that deal. I shouldn't have killed anyone. There's a lot I could've done to stop this mess from happening." I snapped.
"I'm sorry. I'm just... stressed." I quickly apologized.
"It's fine." he said.
"Hey uh... do you know where Papyrus is?" I asked Sans. His expression changed and he looked away.
"You should just confess, kid." Sans said with a half-hearted chuckle.
"What?" I asked in confusion.
"Well, you like him don't you?" Sans asked.
"Who?" I was so confused.
"Papyrus." He said.
"P-papyrus?! Are you... oh my god." I murmured. So it was me that Sans and Toriel were talking about.
