Chapter 24 - Make it right

A/n : Heyo , I'm back with another chapter. It's the last saddest chapter in this book.....I guess. And all the next chapters are full of lust and romance and some drama, humour.

So, how many of you are up for some spicy romance between Taehyung and Y/n, let me know.

And I should warn you the romance between Taehyung and Y/n is not too smooth, it's rough.

And yeah, don't forget to vote and comment to encourage me.

And you might as well hit the follow button.

"SHE IS NOT THE KILLER." a large hand was slammed against the wooden table making the files to elevate in the air and slam back against the same place due to the gravity. The name board on the desk on which the name Jung Hoseok was craved with gold colour, shifted left from its actual place.

The young man who leaned in propping his arms up on the table as he glared at the lawyer who looked at him with his eyes reading the youth's rage watching him over the rim of the frame, leaning back against the chair the older pushed his glasses which were lying over the bridge of his nose interweining his fingers, still not wavering his gaze from the tall man fuming with rage.

"Taehyung. I would be glad if you stop messing up my desk. I hope you will keep that in mind. Now please..." Hoseok gestured Taehyung to remove his hands off the desk while giving his sharp glare.

"Why everyone is so keen on making her the culprit. She's -"

"Innocent. I know." Hoseok's calm yet sharp voice echoed through the walls making Taehyung to frown. Taehyung and Hoseok have been cracking up the case together since 7 months. Taehyung kept defending her while he searched for the evidence while Hoseok kept looking at the situation considering her as the culprit which infuriated Taehyung to the core.

"You know? How?" Taehyung asked being perplexed by the elder's reply. All these 7 months, Taehyung tried hard to get some evidence just to make everyone beleive that Y/n was wrongly accused. He found the city's top most lawyer but he denied when he heard the case and finally he got Jung Hoseok the one with worst reputation. He was called the city's worst lawyer, why? Because, Hoseok didn't want to be popular he stuck to his ethics and morals which made him to loose each and every case.

Jung Hoseok was an average lawyer with hidden treasure, that is his knowledge. He was overly qualified to be a lawyer and his personality wasn't that great with his clients, which brought a terrible reputation to him.

Taehyung knew, Y/n wouldn't do that. Summer, he was equally hurt when summer died but what if the dead gets to know that her friend was wrongly accused. She would be pertified by the truth. And Y/n? She would never handle it . He found many ways to make out the truth, but no. Nothing was fruitful. Which implanted a strange feeling within him. It was as if someone's trying hard to conceal it.

The CC's in the bar were damaged. How could that happen? There's something wrong. So wrong.

That's where he had done wrong. Taehyung wanted to prove Y/n being an innocent so he tried to save her by finding evidence, while Hoseok had a different approach in his mind. He had analysed why Y/n can't be the culprit and that's where he got his answer. She could never. Why ? Well that's a secret.

"Well, I would be glad to inform it to the Judge in the court. And I have met Y/n. she is not good but she will be fine. After all she's going to get released soon she could take rest in her home." Hoseok let it out, making Taehyung stare at him intently. He couldn't get Hoseok sometimes, he always looks like he actually doens't believe Y/n being innocent. But the confidence lacing in his tone made Taehyung think otherwise.

Hoseok stood up from his seat straightening his clothes and buttoning his dark green suit. He adjusted the lawyer badge attached to the left side of his chest and gave a small pat on Taehyung's shoulder with warm smile.

"You can trust me. You're not going to miss the trial right!?" That's when Taehyung came to know that the man infront of him was actually something else.

Hoseok visited Y/n a week ago. The one whom he met once was different from the girl in the cell. She had lost her very smile, she couldn't even look at him in the eye. Her lips were sealed, she looked as if she was mute. She just turned around showing her back to him and rocked front and back in a slow pace mumbling a small sorry. Heavens, she's traumatized. True that he doens't even know a thing about her, but when Taehyung had approached him, he was actually surprised to see her in the file. Isn't she the one who saved his sister, Eloise!?

Hoseok wasn't a man who would just trust someone blindly, he has his own ways to handle a case and he had done his part and that too a week ago. There's only one thing pending. And that was Y/n being declared as an innocent by the court. Chances of loosing the case is zero and Hoseok is sure of that. Well these 7 months which he had asked for the court helped him a lot in cracking the case up. He appealed the court to get Y/n treated in the hospital as she was in coma indirectly asking the court to give him some to look up into the case.

He wasn't always serious, but now he is. The case was complicated and extremely mysterious. Too bad, he didn't get to know who killed summer but that's completely unnecessary. Even if he gets nothing, he would still be able to get Y/n out! How? Well he's intelligent and there's no doubt in that.

The duo slowly paced out of Hoseok's cabin and stepped inside Taehyung's car which was waiting for them to arrive.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The court was silent. Hoseok sat there in his designated seat waiting for Y/n to arrive. Taehyung was back in the crowd with Mr. Min by his side. Taehyung's relationship with Min family has increased in the meantime, how can he not get worried about the happy family whose world fell apart that night and as a result he managed to get into hearts of the couple. And about Summer's dad? He couldn't say anything when he saw th old man crying over the grave.
Yoongi wasn't there with them, he was in the states taking care of his father who's condition was terrible a few weeks back, he was broke and no one had ever saw Min Yoongi's precious tears while Y/n was in the operation theatre. He felt sorry for the youth, one on the bed while the other in coffin. They didn't deserve any of that. He would have been there but alas, his father's condition was bad and it was serious such that Yoongi had to visit him to take care.
The neat spotless court engulfed with thick air and Mr. Min braced his heart for the trial. A gentle nod from Hoseok with his calm and confident smile made him release a sigh in relief. The aura around Jung Hoseok was screaming success.
Out of a sudden the doors creaked open and there entered Y/n with two officers by her side, her head hung low staring at the floor, her hands cuffed at the front, her hair was loosely tied into a pony tail, her eyes red, her body weak and malnourished. She looked terrible which broke Taehyung's heart. He just wanted to hug her to his chest and whisper that he has her back.
Heck, he should have just kidnapped her from the prison and take her to his mansion and treat her like a princess, that's what she deserves. He clenched his fists tight into balls when one of the officers pushed her forward to walk fast as her pace was slow and staggering. He wanted to punch that officer hard continuously such that he would bleed to death.
"Is it ok to kill a police officer and be out of the prison?" An elderly voice spoke which managed to make Taehyung smile in that very situation, it's good that there's someone who shares the same thoughts as his.
"Let's just trust our lawyer once again! He will be able to get us out. Well I atleast I hope he will help." Taehyung shifted his gaze to the old man in his 50's beside him with a small smile and the old man just heaved a sigh.
"H-He will get her out.....right!?" Mr. Min asked trying to confirm his doubt the very doubt which he wanted to be true. He wants his daughter in his embrace, cradling her like the way he did when she was 5.
"There's no doubt in that sir. She will never step into the prison anytime." He confirmed and Mr. Min just gave a nod being tight lipped.
"I hope this trial goes good" the elder whispered watching his daughter taking a seat beside Hoseok not lifting her head up all the time. He couldn't express how hard it was to keep himself stiff in the very situation.
The honourable judge entered and every person in the court stood straight and slightly bowed their heads acknowledging him. Taehyung did the same but his eyes were always stuck to the only girl who he never wished to see anything but her smile.
She's trembling like a leaf the way he had never seen. Fuck them whoever made her this vulnerable. But no one knows that a certain someone who had visited her in the meantime made her feel pathetic than death.
A day ago
"You've got a visitor." That was the only thing she was told and she was escorted to the place. It was a closed room with glass seperating the either sides. She was told to take a seat on the chair and She was surprised to see the man who was on the other side. Park Jimin?
"How are you?" His smooth voice echoed through the glass where there small holes to make it audible. She said nothing all she could see was him. He was smiling? The very mocking chuckle leaving his lips made her feel confused. She couldn't understand his feelings.
"Well good for you. You look good in those clothes. And that is what you deserve." His words cut through her heart like a sharp knife and her heart bled profusely without any fail.
"I wonder how can you even be alive? How can you eat? How can you sleep and how can you breathe? Don't you feel guilty for killing her? Are you even a human?" Jimin banged his palm against the glass and it surprisingly didn't break. His eyes were red with rage, his jaw clenched, he gritted through his teeth glaring at her.
"I-I didn't kill her. When I hit the tree she wasn't there, sh-"
Even before she could speak further Jimin slammed his palm against the desk before him making her flinch. He was in fury, all he could see was the woman who killed Summer. His heart broke into pieces when he saw Summer's pale body laying lifeless.
He ran all the way to the hospital when he heard the news and when he reached his feet stumbled back finding her dead. She wasn't cursing anymore, she wasn't taking his pictures, she wasn't even talking. She was just laying there silent which made him shiver. Blood seeped out of her nose and he stopped himself from approaching her lifeless body.
He couldn't find courage to touch her, why? He doesn't know it himself. His hands trembled and he didn't even attend for her funeral. He couldn't. He was about to confess his feelings to her. Then why?
His misery turned into rage and anger and when he heard that it was because of Y/n then it left him out of control. He was in fury. How? And Why? He doesn't want to know, all he wanted was a person to blame. And so he chose Y/n to blame for the loss.
Those few words which left his lips were close to kill her from inside. His sharp words clawed her heart without any mercy and his last sentence which he rendered her while he was leaving left her dead.
"Why her? Why didn't you die? You should have died instead of her. It was your fault anyway and you should be the one getting punished. I hope you would rot in this hell forever."
Y/n couldn't get that incident out of her mind. Maybe she's the reason of 100 copies death. Maybe it was because of her transmigration. She was in her own world thinking extreme.
The Judge in his Black robe over his white shirt gestured to start the trial and that's when the prosecution stood up to state their points.
"Your honour, we charge Ms. Min Y/n for the murder of Ms. Summer Reed. We charge her for Road accident that happened 7 months ago which killed a life of an innocent. We request you to provide justice to the family which had lost their daughter."
The prosecutor in the Black robe over his  spoke keen and clear which made Y/n to lower her head in shame, agony, she wanted to hide, hide from everything . Family! What about Summer's dad? He's here? Is he watching her with rage? Or is he looking at her with disgust? She couldn't decide. Uncle Simon, what would he think of her? A girl who killed his daughter?
"So, Mr. Jung Hoseok? Would you like to agree with the prosecution?"
The judge who sat with utmost dignity asked shifting his gaze to the Man who stood up from his designated seat with a small smile smeared upon his face. Buttoning his suit he bowed to the Judge in respect. That was when the honorable judge realised, this particular man is going to win. Everything about him was screaming success and confidence. He knew very well what is he doing and well he knew that he shall win.
"No sir, we decline the charges and I would like to say that my client, Ms. Min Y/n is innocent." That's it, that's the only thing Hoseok had to say and the prosecution was on fire.
The judge gave a small nod and asked the prosecution to start the trial and state all the evidences it has.
"Your honour, Ms. Summer Reed was killed and the doctors had confirmed that she was killed in the car accident itself. The timing of her death matches the car crash and so it is keen and clear that Ms. Min Y/n was the culprit. We have heard that both Summer and Y/n used to have a foul relationship and we also presume that she had done it deliberately. We would like to call for a student. "
The judge noted the points which prosecution has stated and judge ushered the witness who arrived upon her call. Y/n elevated her gaze to the girl who had arrived claiming herself as a witness. She saw her? Maybe. They had a foul relationship!? When and how?
"Ms. Scarlett, I would like to ask you about the relationship between Summer and Y/n . Were they friends? What relationship do they have?" The prosecution asked and the random girl who heaved a sigh after bowing to the Judge in respect.
"T-They used to have a great realtionship..............but that was only a show." Y/n frowned upon hearing the random girl which she didn't remember at all. A show!?
"I would like you to eloborate it Ms. Scarlett." The prosecutor asked.
"I-I saw summer. I saw her crying in the restroom infront of Y/n that day. It was by chance encounter and I saw her crying. I think Y/n did something to her."
No way. Is she the girl who saw Summer laughing that day when she modified Jungkook's picture to a random bikini model!? She is the same girl. The biggest disadvantage of Summer's laughter is.....her laughter is no different from her cries.
"It is clear your honour. Summer was getting bullied by Ms. Min Y/n in secret. I would like to call upon another witness." The prosecution called out a boy who happened to be their classmate.
"Tell us, Mr. Henry. Do you really think summer was getting bullied by Y/n?"
"Umm, I guess so. Y/n used to call her something else rather than her name. It was something weird.....um something like copies!? It was insulting in a way, I mean it's like she want to acknowledge her name." He shrugged his shoulders not actually remembering her name which was exclusively given by Y/n.
Never ever Y/n thought her name for Summer would be an evidence of their fake foul relationship. How could they? They weren't present when they used to spend time with eachother? They aren't aware of how special and unique their relationship was?
Right! It was just like the painting that day. The Red stain on the white sheet. She was that stain. How good you might be people stare at your faults. She was mute, mute all along. Mortified and hurt.
That's when Hoseok stood up from his seat once again with the same calm face.
He walked straight towards the witness with a small polite smile which stayed on his lips since the start.
"Mr. Henry I heard something weird when I was stepping inside here. There's someone who accompanied you isn't it?" Hoseok asked as titling his head and keeping his gaze straight on the young boy before him.
"Y-yes sir. My friend joined me so that I could not get tensed to speak truth." The young boy seemed intimidated by Hoseok's very smile which was nothing but genuine. Probably it was because of Hoseok's attitude, it was as if he's going to prove that the young one was wrong!? Maybe.
"Right! friend. Sorry Mr. Henry I don't think he's your friend." Hoseok made a pity face and his words hit the young boy.
"Excuse me? I don't get you. He's my best friend. What are you trying to say?" The boy's answer was as expected by Hoseok and the response itself made him smile in victory.
"Well, I heard him calling you Hen. I also heard him calling you an idiot and dumb. How can he do that? Why are you enduring when he's bullying you in the broad daylight? He's comparing you to a Hen! Why don't you ju-"
"It's a Nick name sir, I guess you don't know about these things. He doesn't mean when he called me an idiot." He gritted through his teeth and Hoseok got his answer already.
"Well, then why didn't you think that my client could be calling Ms. Summer Reed out of endearment? It was her Nick name, 100 copies and I don't think that as insulting as being referred as a Hen, Idiot or Dumbo." Hoseok concluded and the judge noted all the points.
"According to us Y/n and Summer had a very great relationship. And it wasn't just a mere speculation. We have evidence, and these are pictures of Y/n and her friends which were retrieved from the deceased's smart phone." Hoseok said as he fished out a few photos out of his file and the helper handed it over to the judge.
"That's kind of irrelevant, my lord. No matter how deep their relationship is, we couldn't ignore the fact that she had killed Ms. Reed and she was dead. A youth had lost her life sir. And it was a crime to drive without having a license, my lord." The prosecutor pointed out.
"Well, I guess Mr. William didn't try to think that my client could have a driving licence now that she's an adult." Hoseok let out a small smile which looked more like a smirk.
Y/n in the novel does everything in secret. She doesn't discuss her own personal matters with anyone not even her parents. She could drive, but she doesn't want people to know that. She wanted to keep herself a secret and make her father feel guilty. Y/n in the novel wanted her father to be guilty, about not knowing his daughter. She wanted to let him know that she was an independent so she had applied for her license when she reached her age.
But the Y/n right now who's keeping her gaze straight on the floor also knew the fact that she had a license as she got it by a post and she hid it from Mr. Min thinking that he would be hurt that his daughter wanted him to be unaware of that. It actually didn't matter for her as she already knew how to drive as she learnt it in the real world.
She pretended that she didn't know how to drive just to make people around her realise that she's Min Y/n but not someone who got transmigrated.
How did Hoseok knew? She couldn't able to decode that, but still he's a lawyer it was clear that he had investigated thoroughly.
"Even though she has a license isn't that clear that she killed Ms. Summer?"
"Now that we have come to the point, I would like provide a few things to you my lord." Hoseok said as he retrieved some papers from his file and the helper rendered them to the judge.
"Your honour, we found out that both Y/n and the deceased, Summer were in the bar. According to our investigation, the CC's in each every corner of the bar went wrong. I would like you to take a look. Whoever was it, they had done it deliberately." Hoseok urged the judge to take his point into consideration.
"Mr. Jung I really do think that you aren't aware of a thing called coincidence." The prosecution retorted.
Hoseok just let out a small laugh which looked more like he was mocking the dumb question of the prosecutor. Did the prosecution think he would just raise a stupid point without any evidence.
"Well right. I would consider it as a coincidence too when the CC's where the accident had occurred were fine that time. Your honour I think Ms. Summer Reed was murdered." The court gasped and the whispers engulfed the silent environment making Y/n stiff.
What!?
Her heart raced as she didn't elevate her head up, her mind was already a mess. What was happening!?
"Mr. Jung, court doesn't entertain speculations. We need evidence, a conclusive evidence aren't you aware of that!?"
"Yes, I'm coming to that." Hoseok raised his brow up acknowledging the question of the prosecutor and turned to answer the judge
"Your honour, the time Summer headed towards the washroom was 10.57 exact as recorded by the CC's. And the time Y/n's car exited the bar was 11.26 sharp and the CC's in the parking lot also stopped working at 11.37 There was no sign of Summer exiting the bar when the CC's were on. So that means Summer hadn't left the bar before Y/n. So how can she get hit by Y/n's car which takes 10 minutes to reach the place where it was crashed." Hoseok stated with his stern and strict tone which hit Y/n hard.
Right! If Summer had left after her then how could she get hit by Y/n's car!? That's rediculously impossible. Even if she left before Y/n it takes atleast 30 min by walk and Summer is not fast paced. The CC's were on when Y/n left and there were no signs of Summer leaving before Y/n. How in the world did Summer reach there?
"If we really pressume that Y/n's the one who killed Summer in car crash, then shouldn't summer be present at the incident before Y/n could reach?" Hoseok continued.
"She must have left when the lights and CC's were off, maybe at 11.37? Maybe she took a taxi and maybe she have reached the place earlier?" The prosecution raised a point and Hoseok knew that, the team against which he's playing is quite dumb and not worthy of him.
"I have checked that too your honour, the pictures which I have provided you includes the snap of the road where Y/n's car got crashed. And I have took a picture of each and every car that went pass, before the accident happened and CC's were off. And there's no one who got down at the very place of incident or even near to that place, so how can Summer be killed by Ms. Min Y/n!? That's highly impossible unless Summer has some super natural powers which is extremely impossible." He concluded and Judge frowned nodding his head. True everything was a bit complex. And there's no doubt, Hoseok had worked hard.
"Even if Ms. Y/n wasn't the murderer. She should be punished for breaking the traffic rules and destroying the public property." One thing Hoseok learnt from this whole session was.......the prosecutor either wanted to irritate him or he wanted to let Y/n be punished desperately. Well, he's at loss because neither of them is going to happen.
"Your honour, these are the documents of the car which was used by Ms. Min Y/n. And according to the investigation it's clear that there's been a very big mishap of the breaks and it was a deliberate mistake." Hoseok made it clear.
"Maybe she did it to herself, just to make herself seem innocent?"
"So you're implying that Ms. Min Y/n is that desperate to get hit and drown into coma for 7 good months!" He stated with a sarcastic smile which lacked humour and turned to the judge.
"We have caught someone who's trying to fail the breaks my lord. Let me call upon the person for inquiry." Hoseok asked bowing his head and the judge allowed.
A tall man with rough features and well built frame maneuvered and took a seat in his designated place after bowing to the judge in honour.
His hands trembled as he held them stiff placing them on his lap away from the gaze of the judge.
"Mr. Scott, could you please inform the court about the things you have confessed to me earlier." Hoseok asked making him to shudder. The man's hands were cold as eyes and his body was stiff and still not moving.
"I-I was told to fail the breaks of a car by phone." He let his voice out low but that was enough for the judge to consider.
"Could you let the court know about the person?"
"No, he kept himself hidden but it was a man." He let out.
And that's it, that's a check mate. Game over.
"That's all your honour. As you can see the real culprit was actually out free from any punishment. I would like to ask for a detailed investigation of the case. So that the actual culprit would be punished and the soul of the deceased can rest in peace." Hoseok requested bowing to the judge and the prosecution stayed silent.
What more can prosecution say when Hoseok didn't give them a chance to raise further questions.
Everything went hazy for Y/n who sat there processing what was happening. She couldn't hear the judge who has declared her to be non guilty. She was murdered? Summer was murdered? Why? How and who? What was happening to the plot? Is it the same story she had read, she wondered. Why is it so complicated? And who killed Summer? Just who? What she had done to them? She's just a teenager who hadn't even lived her to the fullest.
She stood straight when one of the cops who was now a lady made her stand and released the handcuffs secured around her wrists. The woman who was holding her still as Y/n was still a little bit weak due to her recent hospitalization.
Hoseok was discussing the exit procedures of Y/n from the prison while she stood there lifeless.
Jimin's right. Maybe she's the reason because of the change in plot. Maybe she's the reason why summer died just like that. Is it because of her transmigration? Is it?
What if she just disappears from this world? Will summer come back? Will she? She will. She must come back. She should. Is it wasn't for her, everything would be at place. Everything.
What she should do to get her back? She was trying to find her ways until her gaze shifted straight to the helper's desk just below the judge, as the Judge was seat in his seat which was a bit higher than the ground level. The sharp paper cutter appeared very appealing and her feet moved on their own accord.
As soon as the judge declared Y/n to be innocent Mr. Min's heart started beating in normal pace. He placed a hand on Taehyung and gave a small pat acknowledging the youth's desperate attempts to get her released since all these 7 months.
"Thank yo-" the elder's words remained unfinished when Taehyung spoke keeping his gaze straight on Y/n's form who was heading towards the empty desk where there were numerous documents placed along with the stationery.
He frowned upon watching her reaching the desk and his eyes widened when her hands touched the paper cutter with it's sharp edge.
"No"
"Y/N!!!!!!!!" He yelled her name out loud making everyone to notice the girl who held the tiny paper cutter in her hands and aimed it at her wrist. He ran to get rid off that weapon from her hands making everyone notice.
Hoseok's eyes widened in horror and his feet rushed towards her but even before he could reach her, she pressed the sharp metal into her flesh and deepened it into her wrist drawing the red blood. She dragged the metal from left to right on her skin in a straight line and that's when Hoseok pushed it out of her hands and jerked her by grabbing her shoulders.
Her knees went weak and the blood seeping out of her malnourished body made her dizzy.
"This should make everything right." She whispered and darkness engulfed her vision in total.
