Chapter 6: Execution

Notice: All characters unless stated otherwise are 18+, on top of that, there won't be any horny shit written in this book.

The bike had taken off from the command center about an hour ago. Not a lot had happened since then. The female octoling across from Tanya had fallen asleep, and the two males had surprisingly been able to set up a checker board and play a few games. Tanya had nothing to do. She left her phone back at her apartment on the surface, and the mohawked male didn't seem too fond of her.

With nothing to do, she stared out the back of the vehicle. The command center had left their view awhile ago, only leaving the dull rocks dimly lit by the blue hue of the crater. Tanya thought to herself for a bit, and what to more accurately call the mechanical abomination she was riding in. She decided to dub the vehicle a 'Motortruck', seeing as it was a mash-up of the two anyways. With nothing left to occupy her mind, she decides to close her eyes and rest as much as she can before the mission began.

Not too long after falling asleep, the truck came to a halt. Waking Tanya, Cherep banged on the glass and yelled, "We're here ladies and gents! No time for beauty sleep!" Tanya got out of the back along with the rest of them and walked up to the front. There was a gate in front, with a tower off to the left containing one lone octoling.

The octoling in the tower moved from view, and the gate opened. It revealed a building not too far that Tanya assumed to be the outpost. Cherep began to drive ahead as the rest of them walked into the open garage, slinging their ink-based weaponry. Inside the garage was another truck being worked on, with tool boxes against the wall and various devices one would need for a garage. The truck parked on top of a platform with a console off to the side.

A set of doors to the right of the squad open, revealing a female octoling in an officers uniform and cap, behind her are two Octotroopers. Their platforms contain an extending grabber rather than the hose-like ink ball blaster they normally use. In the grabbers claws is a long plastic tank filled with a reddish ink. The officer starts to talk to Cherep, "Right on time, We'll load the bomb and lower you guys down to the Residential Sector."

The Officer turns to the octotroopers, signaling to load the bomb onto the Motortruck. Tanya turns to the unnamed female octoling that had fallen asleep earlier, worry evident in her eyes, "What's this about a residential sector, aren't we dealing with Sterilized?"

The octoling yawns and turns to the worried inkling, speaking in a tired tone, "The residential sector was filled with hives before, we're just dealing with one that hasn't been cleared yet. A large area around the hive has been evacuated so we didn't have to worry about civilians" Relief rose from within Tanya's body, replacing her worry with newfound curiosity.

"Speaking of which, why are they called sectors?" The tired octoling blinks and resumes speaking, "Before New Octavia's founding, and before most octarians lived here, General Octavio had sent expeditionary squads down to explore this place. They named all the levels Sectors to simplify organization, or they did it to sound cool."

She scratches the bridge of her nose, glancing at the males who were chatting and Cherep who was lazing off, "There are currently 6 known sectors. The sector you came through was the first one. It still contains a lot of hives, and the council see's no reason to clear it out. The second sector is for research and development, but that's all we're told. The third sector is for New Octavia, with some connected caverns being mined out for resources. The fourth is purely for housing and the fifth is largely uncharted, being mostly devoid of sterilized and anything else."

She pauses, and stares at Tanya, "There's not a lot known about the Sixth Sector. Most who go down or get sent down never return, and the one that did return refuses to say what went on down there. All we know is that the sixth has a crap ton of sterilized." Tanya hums in understanding, "Guess I know a little more now, Thanks-" She's cut off by the octoling, "It's Ustala."

The octotroopers finish loading the bomb into the back. Cherep waves Tanya and Ustala over with the male octolings behind them. Everyone climbs into the back, with the bomb laying in between the seats. The officer bangs on the truck gaining the attention of the squad, "You guys better not die, I'd rather that Commander Nerin didn't have to deal with writing more death reports alright?"

The squad nods and the platform underneath them begins to lower, filling the interior of the truck with darkness. The platform's creaking and rumbling causes the truck to shake and jostle the squad. After not too long, the lights on the outer edges of the platform power on and fill the once dark space with their bright light. Ustala nudges Tanya with her foot, "Its gonna be a long ride down, you should get some sleep."

Tanya nods and leans back as Ustala closes her eyes. The female octoling is fast asleep, and Tanya joins not too long after.

The inkling is violently shaken awake from the octoling across from her. "We're here. Welcome to the residential sector."

Tanya looks out of the back of the truck and into the large cavern they are descending into. The ground below her is dotted with housing, from apartment buildings to basic houses to even large mansions. It was a truly spectacular view that arose a few questions in the back of the Inkling's curious mind.

After a while, the platform came to a halt and connected to a much larger platform, along the edges were catwalks filled with octolings soldiers and the distant but not too far view of the houses. Tanya couldn't see much other than that. One of the soldiers walked up to the front while two others came around to the back. The octoling in the front began to question Cherep, "Name, I.D, and what're you doing here?"

"Cherep Galeo, me and my squad are here to deal with the hive in Section 5-B." Cherep hands the soldier a file and I.D card.

"They said you'd be coming," He yells to a worker at a set of controls for the platform, "Extend the bridge!"

Mechanical rumbles and whirring erupted from the front of the truck, Tanya peeked out the small window and watched as a large metal bridge extended from a nearby structure. The bridge stopped and connected with the platform. The soldier handed Cherep the file and her I.D and motioned them to go. The truck moved onto the bridge and towards the building.

The door to the structure opened and the truck drove in. The room around them was a dull white, with octarian workers managing conveyor belts with packages on them. Octobombers were moving heavier packages that were too big for normal octarians and conveyor belts.

Tanya nudges the octoling across from her, waking her up. "What's going on in here? Is this some sort of packaging facility?"

Ustala yawns and explains, "In a way. This facility is responsible for taking care of the stuff the city sends us and giving the city the stuff they want, like food." Ustala closes her eyes again, "The people here are responsible for sorting and delivering it. There's nothing too special."

She falls asleep again, leaving the inkling with no one to speak to. She stares out the back of the truck, losing herself in thought.

After a few hours of driving past countless houses, they arrive at an area closed off by a barricade. Soldiers stationed there salute and raise the barricade, letting the truck drive in. Cherep drives off to the side, parking the vehicle next to the curb and hopping out. Everyone else follows.

"Alright folks, time to earn our pay. Afro boy and Mohawk kid will carry the bomb and the rest will escort them." The two males sigh in annoyance and begin to unload the ink bomb. Tanya switch the firing mode on her mechanical abomination to single shot mode.

Cherep faces the squad and shouts, "Operation #47 is officially starting! time to clear this hive, squad."

new chapter wooooooo

"but char you said weekly updates"

That was a goal I was aiming for with this book. I was gonna try and release this last friday but the effort on the 5th chapter burnt me out, and at that point i just wanted to play games with my friends. Chapters are Supposed to be weekly, but i can't guarantee that they will be.

also i tried for a better writing style, let me know if its easier to read. depending on feedback i might edit previous chapters to the new style.
~1525 words
