Notice: All characters unless stated otherwise are 18+, on top of that, there won't be any horny shit written in this book.
The Male octoling behind the desk stands up and walks over to the two. "You're Tanya, correct?" The inkling nods her head to the question, and the General turns around, "Marvelous! Come, lets have a chat." He walks back over to his desk and sits down back in his chair. Tanya stands in front of the desk with the Female Elite standing off to the side.
"No need to be so nervous!" He chuckles, "Have a seat, Caroline dear would you mind getting us some tea?" The Female Elite moves back to the elevator and hits a button to go down. Tanya sits down in one of the comfortable leather chairs. "So, I heard you saved one of our elites, correct?" Tanya nods in response to the question, "I must thank you for that, Kat is also one of our best engineers. With her gone I doubt we could further any progress on getting out of here."
The General leans forward, with the mood rapidly changing to become more serious, "Despite that though, I can't do a lot for you. The Governor wants to kill you, but after seeing how well you did after that attack, I can't let it go to waste." The general clears his throat and continues speaking, "I have a deal for you. You assist a small squad of soldiers in clearing out a hive in the residential zone, and I can promise you that your head remains on your shoulders."
The General shuffles a bit, "So, Van Norton, what do you say?" Tanya takes a bit to think on what the General had said, and gives her answer, "A chance at living is better than execution." The General lightens up, and the mood of the room instantly shifts back to normal. Tanya lets out a sigh of relief as the elevator dings, and the doors open to reveal Caroline with a tray containing cups and a teapot. "It seems our tea has arrived. Now lets change the subject, shall we?"
Caroline walks over and sets down the tray on the desk. She places the cups of tea in front of both Tanya and the General before stepping out of view. The cups contain a velvet red liquid, presumably the tea. The General picks up his cup and takes a sip of his tea, humming in satisfaction. Tanya, curious by the reaction from the octoling across from her, does the same. The tea is sweet and tangy, with a oddly satisfying bitter aftertaste, making Tanya feel relaxed. She lets out a sigh of satisfaction.
"I see you're enjoying the tea?" The General asked. Tanya replied with a woomy, earning a chuckle out of him. "That tea is made with Velvet leaves, A rare leaf that grows on Velvet Berry tree's," He takes another sip of his tea and continues, "Those Trees, like many other things you can find, are exclusive to The Depths." He pauses for a second, and quickly picks up a folder. Tanya goes to take another sip of tea while he swiftly reads through it. He finally asks after some time, "How did you end up down here?"
Tanya stops moving, and puts her cup back down. She stays silent for a bit before answering the question, "I-I don't remember how I got down here." The General hums in understanding, "Don't worry too much about that, most don't remember how they got down here." He takes another sip of his tea, before setting down an empty cup. "I would love to chat more, but I have work to do. Caroline will take you down to your quarters. Tomorrow at 10:00 you will be sent out with a few volunteers to take out that hive. Fight your hardest, because your life will depend on it."
The inkling takes her final sip, and sets her empty cup down as well, "I'll give it my all, Thank you." The General smiles in response, "No need to thank me." Caroline moves over to the elevator, and Tanya turns around to follow her. Caroline hits a button and the doors close. The General sighs, "Either way, it may as well be a suicide mission."

After reaching the 5th floor and walking through several small and winding hallways, Tanya and Caroline finally reach their destination. In front of them was a door numbered 762. Caroline fished around in her pockets and retrieved a pair of keys. She stuck one of the keys into the lock and opened the door.
The door opened to a cozy living room, adorned with a couch, recliner, and a TV. On their left was a kitchen, containing what you would expect in one. Caroline stepped in and removed her shoes, motioning for Tanya to do the same. Tanya does so and steps inside. Caroline motioned Tanya over to the couch, and called out towards one of the bedrooms, "Kat! Deal with your guest!"
Tanya could hear something fall over before one of the bedroom doors opened and Kat's familiar face steps out. She swiftly moves over to the back of the couch and leans over, beginning to talk with Tanya, "You're finally here!" Tanya nervously leans back, "Wasn't she a little more... serious? She's acting like a kid getting a Christmas present." Tanya clears her throat and begins to speak to the hyper octoling, "O-Oh hey Kat, I didn't think you would be here."
Kat gives a confused look to this, "What do you mean, This is where you're..." She pauses for a moment, with realization striking her face. She quickly calls out to the other octoling residing here. "Carol, you never told her she was gonna stay the night?!"
Tanya and Caroline reply in unison, "Wait I'm/She's staying the night!?" Kat covers her ears from them yelling and gives Caroline a reply, "Its the very least I could do!" Caroline sighs in response, "Fine, but you're responsible for what she does. I'm going to bed." The tall and tired octoling walks into her bedroom and angerly shuts the door, locking it in the process.
Kat sighs, "Sorry about that, she has a short temper when she's tired." Kat hops over the back of the couch and plops herself down next to Tanya, "You'll be staying the night here until you get your own place or... whatever the General has in store for you." Tanya, whos still in shock, replies to Kat as best she can, "W-Wait, you're just letting me stay here?" Tanya's words earn a sigh from the octoling beside her, "Yes, how many times am I gonna have to say it?"
Tanya scratches the back of her neck, "O-Oh, thank you." Kat closes her eyes and gives Tanya a wide smile, "Don't worry about it! You did save me after all." Tanya could feel her face heat up and turn yellow to Kat's words and smile. "S-So uhhh, where will I sleep?" Kat froze and stared blankly at the ceiling, "I haven't thought about that yet..."
Tanya lets out a chuckle, "Well, I'll be sleeping on the couch then." Kat lets out a hum of agreement, "Sounds good! I'll go get you your blankets and a pillow!" She got up and started to walk over to where the rooms were. Before vanishing around the corner, she quickly calls out to the inkling still on the couch, "Oh and by the way! if you ever want to take a shower the bathroom is next to Carol's room."
Tanya nods in response, and gets up to use the restroom. Sliding past the black-tentacled octoling, she enters the restroom.
................................................................................................................................................................
Tanya leaves the restroom, now fully clothed in pajama's she borrowed from Katilyn. The pajama's she's wearing consist of a yellow button up and pajama pants with white polka dots covering the entirety of the sleep wear. In surprise she asks the octarian engineer, "I never would think someone so high ranking would be allowed to wear this." Her statement earns a response from the octoling chilling on the couch, "Normally, we'd get punished for wearing that kind of stuff. But since we've received nothing from the domes, and the General isn't very strict, we can get away with wearing that stuff."
Tanya raises a brow and plops down next to Kat, "The General lets you? wouldn't that get him in trouble?" Kat stretches her body, giving out a yawn, "Yep, the General lets us. Everyone down here has pretty much cut ties with the Domes. People here despise General Octavio for practically abandoning them, and only follow the leaders in The Council." She looks over at Tanya and lets out a grin, "He's not very strict with what we wear cause Carol is apart of his top squad and I'm one of the top members of the Engineering division."
The inkling was confused on why Kat was telling her so much, "And your telling me all of this because?" Kat gets off the couch and begins to walk over to her room, "I don't know much, Carol isn't allowed to spare a lot of details. but if the General is entrusting you with such an important mission, then he's likely to keep you around. You're probably going to have to join, seeing as the Council would call a hit on you just because you exist."
Those words fill the inklings heart with fear for what the future may hold. Kat stops before her door, causing Tanya's anxiety to skyrocket, "Oh and before I forget, your blanket's on the recliner. Night!" The octoling enters her room and shuts the door, locking it in the process. Tanya lets a sigh of relief escape her mouth. She picks up the blanket and covers her body with it, along side moving a pillow underneath her head. She closes her eyes and begins to slowly fall into a deep slumber.
It seems this abyss may have more in store for her than she thought...
