002 - team bonding

season two -
episode two

AFTER GETTING THE MESSAGES that all of them except Marlon are on the state team.

Everyone separates for the night preparing for the team meeting in the morning.

Lennon exhales lying on her bed scrolling on her phone messaging people back.

The next morning Lennon wakes up at the crack of dawn beginning her day by pedalling down to the beach for her morning swim to give herself a refresh ready for the days training allowing the water to flow down her face and body.

Lennon smiles enjoying her own company in the early morning, before looking towards the shoreline seeing Poppy, Bodhi and Summer running into the water to enjoy their morning surf alongside Lennon.

After her morning swim, Lennon returns home to shower and get ready for Manu to come and get her after agreeing with Poppy last night the girls will arrive at the gym together ready for the meeting and to catch up a little bit more.

"Morning mum" Lennon says skipping down the staircase seeing her mother sipping on her coffee at the kitchen counter.

"Morning sweetheart, ready for today?" Danielle asks seeing Lennon grab an apple from the fruit basket beside the fridge.

"Yeah, I'm ready" Lennon nods biting into the apple hearing a honk outside.

"Pops and Manu are here, I'll see you later?" Lennon says kissing her mother's cheek and grabbing her water bottle and AirPods from the key-holder beside the front door.

"Good morning Pops, Manu" Lennon says getting into the back of the RV seeing she's the first one who's been picked up.

"Good morning, Len" both Tetanui siblings say as the blonde girl makes herself comfortable in the back seat.

Manu soon picks up Summer, Ari and Bodhi and heads towards the sports centre.

"Okay, okay, let's go, let's go, let's go; get up, get up, get up, ears wide open, yeah? And no backchat, it's hard enough teaching you guys as it is" Manu says as all of the teenagers get out of the RV ready for their team session together.

"Cheers Manu" Ari says as all of the girls wave the older male as he leaves the parking lot, "Poor Manu" Bodhi says.

"I know, it's so unfair, there's no way the new coach'll be better" Poppy states as Lennon nods agreeing with her best friend.

Wren comes down the walk way from inside the sports centre, "In here, team" Wren says.

Bodhi and Lennon both smile at the blonde girl politely walking forwards.

"Go on, run to her" Summer says noticing Ari beginning to walk towards his girlfriend.

Lennon throws her head back in annoyance, just hoping for one day without drama, "Is there a problem?" Ari asks confused.

Lennon stands beside Poppy, "Wren called her an entitled brat, to her face" Poppy states seeing Lennon beside her.

"Come on, Len" Poppy says grabbing a hold of the blonde girls hand and walking towards Bodhi and Wren who are waiting near the staircase.

"Hi Len" Wren says politely, "Hey, Ree-Ree" Lennon says playfully earning a smile and chuckle from Wren shocked by the nickname.

"Okay, I love that nickname" Wren states smiling at Lennon who shrugs.

Summer and Ari soon join the girls, of course Wren and Ari can't welcome one another by not kissing as groans are heard from the friends around them.

"Come on, I've got to stretch before we do some stuff" Lennon states walking into the gym area noticing some of the other team mates already inside.

"Lenny" Griffin says seeing her appearance earning a scowl from the blonde girl.

"It's Lennon, friends are only allowed to call me Len or any other nickname" Lennon states getting her AirPods out of the case and zoning people out around her.

Still making sure she's still paying attention so when the new coach makes themselves known she's not being rude.

Noticing the coach has arrived, Lennon stands beside Poppy watching amused.

Griffin is knocked down from a kick to the boxing bag his holding by the new coach.

"Okay, is everybody here?" The coach asks but Lennon frowns noticing the lack of Baxter's appearance in the gym but shrugs.

"Great, I'm Elo Radic, your new coach" Elo says introducing herself, as Lennon looks at Poppy shocked.

Wren smiles at Lennon noticing her shocked face, "Relax, we've got this, come on, train with me" Wren says wanting to grow closer to the blonde girl.

"Okay, sure" Lennon says walking towards the girl standing beside her and stretching.

"Well, congratulations on making the Victorian State Team, it's no small feet, it's just a shame that you guys haven't brought home a national title in, what is it, twenty years?" Elo asks looking around at all of the teenagers using the gym equipment to train.

"Well, lucky for you, I coached Team Queensland to winning podium three years running, the reality is, surfing and swimming for some of you, is an individual sport and it's my job to work out what drives you, to bring out your very best on the water" Elo explains still keeping an close eye on the team using this time to stretch and keep active.

"Hey, coach, what's Sousa doing here? He didn't make the cut" Griffin asks as the whole group stops working out at the comment.

Lennon glares at Griffin for the comment about her ex boyfriend, "Marlon and Cassidy are our subs, back-ups in case of injury; or if I decide that you're out of your depth" Elo states.

"I like your sister already" Lennon says leaning closer to Wren who chuckles softly, "Come on, guys, let's go" Elo says.

Lennon grabs a skipping rope and begins skipping making sure her heart-rate keeps up with her skips.

"Ah, sorry sis, did I miss your big inspiration speech?" Baxter asks making himself known.

Elo shakes her head at her younger brother, "Burpees, now" Elo demands.

Baxter looks at Lennon still skipping winking at her receiving a smile and scoff from the blonde girl before coming to a stop.

"All of you, until I say stop" Elo states and Lennon doesn't hesitate starting to do the burpees as instructed beside Wren.

Although Summer stands up confused, "What happened to surfing's an individual sport?" Summer asks, "It's called accountability, Torres, burpees now" Elo demands.

Summer rolls her eyes but does as told for once, eventually they're allowed to stop doing the burpees.

Elo uses this time to ask Baxter and Ari to climb the ropes towards the top resulting in the girls cheering on both of the boys as it's not exactly a competition between the two teammates.

Lennon grabs her water bottle sipping on the cold liquid standing beside Poppy mainly watching Baxter's arms on the rope earning a smirk from her best friend beside her.

"Today is all about physical fitness" Elo states as the team break up into groups and use the equipment using their fitness abilities around the gym.

Baxter watches Lennon's every move noticing her not struggling with any of the fitness stuff.

Poppy and Lennon both doing jumping jacks and using the blocks to jump up and down on seeing Wren and Summer to their side seeing Elo encouraging them to continue their fitness journey.

The two best friends stand beside one another and Griffin finds it among himself to squirt the two girls with water as they swat with the gym ball together.

Marlon notices that Lennon is growing annoyed with the male and eventually Poppy does as well, coming to an abrupt stop Poppy goes to throw the ball at the teenagers face.

"Oi, what's your problem man?" Marlon asks, "You want some too, Sousa?" Griffin asks, "Yeah, try it, see what happens" Marlon responds.

Lennon and Poppy roll their eyes over the boys antics, "Oh, my god, can you bozos just chill?" Poppy states breaking the two up.

"We are literally on the same team right now" Lennon states not even bothering to look at Griffin but maintaining eye contact with Marlon.

"Yeah, we're on the team, he's a sub" Griffin smugly states getting an annoyed glare off Poppy and Lennon, "Oh shut up" Lennon states rolling her eyes.

"Hey, you throw one punch and you're out, wouldn't be the first time, would it, Marlon? I do my homework, back to work" Elo demands as Lennon nods at him.

"Come on, his not worth it" Lennon says smiling at her ex boyfriend noticing Baxter's eyes staring at her lifting a weight from the floor to his chest.

Marlon nods appreciative of his ex girlfriend keeping his mind off the asshole near them.

"Continue what you were doing and don't give them, especially him, any attention" Lennon states nodding at the block ignoring Baxter still staring into the back of her head.

Elo then moves the team over to the trampoline to do some more higher tricks.

"Right, so, ten years ago, aerial surfing was underground, and now it's pretty much expected on the men's tour; and by the time you guys turn pro, air revs and full rotations, they're gonna be expected for the girls too, right? Let's see what you've got" Elo states as Wren gets onto the trampoline.

Lennon feels someone poking her on the leg seeing Baxter sitting down beside her, she rolls her eyes trying to focus on Wren's jump, although the girl fails to do a flip.

Poppy, Summer and Lennon all hold in their laughs but Lennon watches to make sure the girl isn't injured in any way.

"You're not even trying, I expect a lot more from my team captain" Elo states looking at her younger sister.

Lennon raises her brows looking at Baxter who rolls his eyes annoyed by his two sisters.

"Guess our fearless captain can't do everything" Summer states out loud getting frustrated looks from both Wren and Elo.

"Go on, America, show us your stuff" Marlon states as Summer gets onto the trampoline now showing off her rotation flip into the mat.

"Yes" Lennon whispers happily, "Yes, Summer, good technique, that's more like it" Elo states clapping.

Elo looks at Lennon almost pleading for the girl to do something, "You want me to go next?" Lennon asks pointing at herself receiving nods from everyone on the team.

"Well then" Lennon says getting on the trampoline herself jumping a few times to get air to help her flip onto the mat.

The blonde girl winks at Baxter before flipping into the air landing on her feet on the map shocking the whole team.

"That's my best friend, yes Len" Poppy calls out happy for Lennon who smiles and high-fives Elo who looks at the girl super proudly.

"That's what I'm talking about, fantastic form" Elo states seeing Lennon step off the platform to stand beside Summer and Wren on the floor, "Bax, you're up" Elo says.

Baxter gets onto the trampoline gaining air and flipping onto the map tiredly.

The man gets off the mat down towards the three girls standing beside Lennon who nods at him impressed.

"Very well done, Bax" Lennon says smiling at him as he playfully bows chuckling at the attractive blonde girl.

"You as well, princess" Baxter states as the gym session ends.

Poppy comes over towards Lennon and Bax who are in the middle of a conversation laughing with one another, "Manu is here, you ready to head out?" Poppy asks.

Lennon nods, "Yeah, I'm ready, I need a shower and food" Lennon states.

Baxter agrees beside her seeing his sisters waiting for him, "See you soon, princess" Baxter states leaving the two girls.

"See you soon, Baxi" Lennon says smirking at the nickname but swears to herself she'll never call him that ever again.

ARRIVING BACK AT HER house seeing her mother isn't home.

Lennon runs upstairs showering with her favourite playlist before exiting the shower putting on one of her blue bikini's and a cute sun dress sitting on her bed from earlier.

Lennon walks downstairs ready to prepare some food as she's starving from working out so much.

Opening a sparkling water and finding a salad in the fridge with her name of it.

She shrugs eating that unfazed that's it's nothing major before hearing her phone ringing on the table.

Lennon looks at her phone seeing an incoming call from Summer, "Hey Sum, what's up?" Lennon asks sipping on her sparkling water again.

"Party at my rental tonight, be there-please" Summer states on the other line, "You know me Summer, of course I'll be there, what time?" Lennon asks.

"You can come by anytime, help me set everything up, please?" Summer asks as Lennon laughs.

"I'll be there soon Sum" Lennon states hearing a relieved sigh coming from Summer's mouth on the other side of the phone call.

"Thank you Lenny" Summer states hanging up the phone, Lennon looks at her outfit and shrugs knowing she has the best style for a reason.

"Okay, party time" Lennon says locking the house once again and riding her bike towards Summer and Margot's rental knowing the mum's are going to Abbie's for drinks.

Lennon knocks on the rental house's front door hearing Summer coming down the hallway.

"Ah, you're here, awesome" Summer states dragging the blonde girl inside the house seeing drinks and some meat trays on the kitchen bench waiting to be put away.

"I'll put these in the fridge and you go outside and make sure everything's neat out there, okay?" Lennon states nodding at the food.

Summer nods opening the sliding glass doors to the backyard with the pool.

"Okay, that's all done, now it's just time to wait for people to arrive" Lennon says sitting on one of the pool chairs outside allowing her sundress to sit on the back of the seat.

Soon people arrive and things begin getting loud with dancing teenagers.

"I need to pee, I'll be right back" Lennon says walking into the house using Margot's bathroom since she's allowed.

Feeling refreshed and no longer needing the bathroom.

Lennon returns outside seeing Baxter, Ari and Wren have now arrived and Summer's cooking burgers.

The blonde girl walks into the dancing teenagers noticing Wren filming one of the team mates.

"Oh my gosh, look at you, Len" Wren gasps seeing the blondes figure.

"Hi, Wren, glad you could make it, where's my cousin?" Lennon frowns, "Getting food" Wren answers seeing her brother still holding her phone.

Baxter freezes for a moment seeing Lennon standing beside Wren, "Jesus" Baxter whispers under his breath at the girls beauty.

"Come on, let's dance, and give your sister her phone back Bax" Lennon states grabbing the phone out of his hands and dragging him towards the dancing teenagers practicing allowing her hands to explore his body.

"Red and blue is definitely your colour" Bax states shocking Lennon, "Thank you, blue's my favourite colour and red just matches with everything in my closet" Lennon shrugs with a smile.

Baxter smiles flirtatiously at her, "Go get something to eat, I'm gonna go lounge by the pool again and then help Summer" Lennon states walking away from the pink haired boy who groans at the sudden loss of touch.

Poppy looks around the party seeing Lennon walking up to her banging her hip against hers chuckling at their old dance move together, seeing someone knock off a statue.

"Come with me please" Summer asks as Lennon nods, "I'll be right back, have fun without me" Lennon says unlatching herself from her best friend's arms and following Summer inside.

"What's up?" Lennon asks, "Just didn't want someone bumping into me and if there's two people, less of the chance of that happening" Summer explains as Lennon nods.

Lennon frowns hearing giggling coming from Margot's room which clearly has a sigh on the door saying no entry.

"What the hell?" Lennon states following Summer into the room towards the bathroom where the laughing is coming from.

Summer frowns looking at Lennon who peeks her head around the corner, "Hey, can you not read?" Summer asks as Lennon curses for checking the boy in his underwear out.

"Well, sometimes I choose not to" Baxter states noticing Lennon standing beside Summer.

"You wanna, uh, come join us? We're very inclusive, right?" Baxter states looking at the girl he was previously making out with.

"No thanks, I'm not that desperate for a threesome" Lennon snarls, "You're serious?" the girl says.

"A little" Baxter says looking at the girl, then looking at Lennon as the girl runs out of the bathroom muttering good luck to Summer and Lennon.

"You can go back out to the party, Summer-I'll deal with this" Lennon states as Summer nods leaving the room.

Baxter grabs the closest piece of clothing possible, "Uh, that's Margot's" Lennon states as Baxter puts the robe over his body.

"Yeah, well, she's got good style, and so do you, damn girl" Baxter states, "You need to follow your girlfriend" Lennon states motioning to the redhead who left the room before Summer.

"No, I prefer to let em fly, you know? Besides, she's a bit of a vacuum pasher, the whole kinda" Baxter states mocking the kissing the girl was doing while hooking up with her.

"Hmm, and yet you still managed to lose your pants and if Summer and I didn't interrupt, you would've gone further, and poor girl, rumours like that spread fast around here" Lennon states.

"Like you almost dying a year ago alongside your father and left with Summer to New York to get away from your life here?" Baxter asks as Lennon's face drops at the sudden memory and him knowing.

"And you burning down that Boardriders after Nationals last year; and don't mention my past because you have no idea what happened" Lennon snarls going to leave the bathroom only for Baxter to gently grab a whole of her hand.

"Damn, news travels, I'm sorry about your dad Lens" Baxter says softy.

Lennon shakes her head not wanting to resurface the memories from last year, "So that's true about you?" Lennon asks.

"Don't worry gorgeous, I left my matches at home, I'm just here to meet new people, one of them being a gorgeous blonde girl who happens to be a surfer and swimmer" Baxter says smiling at her.

"Well, meet 'em in the pool, not Summer's mothers bathroom and lose the robe" Lennon states pulling him closer to her by the robe.

Before letting the fabric go and pushing him away walking out of the bedroom leaving Baxter staring at her figure walking away.

"Damn" Baxter whispers finding the blonde girl attractive.

Walking outside Lennon sees Summer staring at Ari and Wren slow dancing to a song on the speakers, "Psst, you have the playlist, change the song" Lennon whispers.

Summer changes the song to a upbeat dance song, "Thank you, I was literally about to fall asleep, Len-come with me now please; I miss you" Poppy states walking towards the girls.

Lennon nods following behind her best friend into the kitchen getting new drinks for another one, "So, you've got the hots for Bax?" Poppy asks.

"What? No, I don't" Lennon says denying the truth, "Oh sweet sweet girl, you do, don't lie to yourself, now come on; dance with me" Poppy says while they exit the house once again standing on the deck that's the dance floor dancing together.

"How are you? You know since your dad?" Poppy asks as Lennon shrugs, "I don't know to be honest, I have good and bad days" Lennon states as Poppy nods knowing how she feels.

Summer eventually decides to put a trampoline on the edge of the pool to practice some air tricks, "Oh god, this is such a bad idea" Lennon mumbles.

Wren stands beside her and Bodhi, "Hey Cap, just practising some airs" Summer says mid jump as the jumps into the pool.

Wren looks unsure about the situation before bending down towards Summer.

"What was that Wren? Of course you can have a go" Summer states as Lennon sighs knowing this isn't a good idea.

Lennon walks over towards the drinks again getting another water feeling thirsty.

Hearing groans of pain coming from the pool and gasps see hurries towards the edge seeing Wren holding her ankle.

"It's my ankle" Wren whimpers seeing Bodhi and Lennon rush inside getting some ice from the freezer wanting to help sooth the girls pain.

"Here, sit down here and put this on it" Lennon says moving one of the pool chairs closer to the injured girl, "Thanks Len" Wren whimpers holding the ice on her ankle.

The party goers soon quiet down as night fall hits and now it's more a vibe with fire around Ari and Wren and a few other teenagers holding cups filled with liquids.

Lennon looks around the party noticing her friends minus Ari and Wren are no where to be seen.

"Sum, where is everyone?" Lennon asks seeing her friend standing watching Wren and Ari together, "I don't know, sorry" Summer mumbles.

Baxter comes up behind the two booping Summer on the head and wrapping his arms around Lennon's waist.

"You both look hangry; maybe I should make you both a burger or something" Baxter suggests looking at the BBQ area.

"Shouldn't you be looking after your sister?" Summer asks.

"She's got Ari" Baxter shrugs walking away from the two girls towards the BBQ area.

"I'm gonna go find Pops and everyone" Lennon explains walking into the house seeing Marlon at the front entrance.

"Marls, you okay?" Lennon asks worried.

Marlon nods but notices Lennon looking at his wet patchy shirt from earlier.

"Oh right; Griffin's split his drink of me and then I caught him and Poppy making out in the laundry room" Marlon states shocking Lennon.

"Wait, Marls, do you like Pops?" Lennon smiles, "I know that's super awkward for you because of our relationship in the past, but I can't help it, she's gorgeous" Marlon vents.

Lennon nods embracing the male with a hug, "Marlon, we were friends before anything and we will always remain friends, just because we dated and other things doesn't affect that, okay?" Lennon states as Marlon nods.

Marlon and Lennon flinch when an explosion outside shocks the house.

Lennon doesn't hesitate in rushing outside making sure everyone is okay.

"What happened?" Lennon asks seeing Baxter and Summer breathing heavily looking at the BBQ hut that's now on fire.

"This isn't- this isn't my fault, this can't be my fault, right?" Baxter asks.

Lennon wraps her arm around his trying to comfort him knowing about his past.

"Nope, this is all me" Summer states knowing deep down she's going to be in so much trouble with her mother, the fire department and house owners.

After the fire explosion, the party ended and everyone left to head home, Baxter walks beside Lennon who wheels her bike beside her.

"You didn't have to walk me home you know?" Lennon says smiling at him, "I know, but to be honest it's been nice talking to you about stuff" Baxter shrugs.

"Sorry about snapping at you earlier when you mentioned my dad" Lennon mumbles as they turn down her road towards her house.

"It's okay, I shouldn't have pushed, I'm sorry" Baxter states looking at the blonde girl.

"Well, this is me, and great my mum isn't even home" Lennon states seeing the house is still dark inside.

"Did you wanna come inside?" Lennon asks hesitant, "Sure" Baxter nods.

Lennon smiles and nods at him to follow her out into the backyard so she put her bike down the side of the house.

"This is a nice house" Baxter says looking at the house, "Thanks, we actually built it from scratch, we use to live a few houses down from Ari's" Lennon explains smiling at the memories.

Baxter looks around once Lennon unlocks the door and puts her set of keys in the basket beside the door.

"Was this your dad?" Baxter asks noticing a photograph on the wall.

"Yeah, that was him, my big sister and I on my fifth birthday" Lennon explains running her hand over her dad's face missing him.

"This is my private space, welcome to my life" Lennon states as they enter her bedroom.

Baxter raises his eyebrows at the photos on the wall of Poppy, Bodhi and her, and one of them being with her older sister.

"If you don't mind me asking, what happened to your sister?" Baxter asks.

"She lives in Tasmania with her partner Sam" Lennon explains handing Baxter a cold bottle of water.

"You can stay here if you want, my mum won't be home and we have a guest room" Lennon shrugs.

"Thanks for the offer, gorgeous, but Elo and Wren will just annoy me until I come home" Baxter says showing the blonde girl his phone with multiple texts from his sisters.

"Well, here" Lennon states holding her hand out to grab his phone.

Baxter gives the girl his phone watching her put her number in it.

"Text me or call me anytime" Lennon explains smiling at the pink haired male while he leaves the Samuels-Gibson household to head home to his house.

"Thanks Lens, I'll talk to you tomorrow" Baxter says as he exits the front door walking down the street towards his house where his sure Elo and Wren will give them a piece of their minds.

Seagulls and waves are heard coming from outside Lennon's window as she wakes up, seeing the sun shining through the clouds.

Stretching out she looks at the time to see it's seven in the morning she smiles getting up and changing into her bikini and running across the road to the beach going for a morning swim.

Welcoming another stressful and fun day, Lennon smiles seeing the text message from Baxter on her phone when she returns from her morning swim.

'Morning Len' the text reads, 'Good morning Bax, how was last night when you got home?' Lennon replies waiting for the pink haired male to reply.

Once a few text messages are sent the two teenagers go back and forth with texts until Summer calls Lennon explaining to her she's now basically living at Ari's and needs an escape.
