Fifth AU - Coffee Shop AU

I personally think Coffee Shop AU's get annoying f a s t. So, in consequense, they are one of Foxy's most hated things on the planet.

So...

Wish them luck

*No one's POV*

Foxy gets thrown into this new world, immediately falling towards the ground. She catches herself on a broom that this universe's Foxy had been holding before midnight hit.

He stands himself upright, looking around at his new surroundings.

Oh no.

"A FUCKING COFFEE SHOP??"

She practically pulls her hair out as they realize the situation they were just put in. Upon looking down at their outfit, they find a name tag labeled "Foxy Pink - Store Manager."

They were alone in the small store, and she could see that the open sign was clearly off. They figured that they must have been cleaning late after closing.

She pulled out his phone, quickly guessing the password and poking around. There were two contacts near the top of her messages named "Thing 1" and "Thing 2," and after a minute of scrolling they decoded some things.

Kape is "Thing 1," and Kosmos is "Thing 2." Both of them are employees at the coffee shop. Foxy lives in a small apartment just down the street from here, but they're still trying to figure out the exact address.

Luckily, the coffee shop was finished being cleaned when Foxy spawned in, so they don't have to clean before they sleep.

Foxy didn't wanna spend the night at the coffee shop, but she also didn't know his own address. The only address he could find in their phone was Kosmos's.

Which... They decided to follow.

What else were they gonna do? Kosmos was probably awake, and all they had to tell him was that they lost their apartment keys.

On the front counter, Foxy found a key ring that most likely belonged to her. They turned off all the lights in the shop, put away the broom where the mop was, and headed out the door. It took around four tries to find the right key to the coffee shop, but eventually they got it.

He found his motorcycle quickly and thanked a random deity that at least this was familiar, and they knew how to drive it. Foxy put in Kosmos's address on his gps, hopped on their motorcycle, and drove down the road.

Within around 15 minutes, they arrived at a small two story house near the outer rings of the city. There were two bikes chained up in the driveway, right next to a small teal two door car.

Foxy parked their bike behind the car and hopped off it with ease. He turned it off and put down his helmet, then turned and walked up to the porch. The house was cute, but the cat boy wondered who Kosmos could be living with for having this big of a house.

It was around one am, but Foxy rung the doorbell anyways. From inside, they heard an immediate thump, and a minute later, angry stomping towards the front door.

The door in front of Foxy swings open to reveal a very tired looking human Kosmos. They look basically exactly like in the highschool au, except around 5 years older.

"Boss- I mean Foxy? What are you doing here?"

"Ah, sorry, I lost the keys to my apartment while I was cleaning the shop tonight, and I couldn't remember how to get to Kape's place, so I came here."

"Weird, you never lose things. But alright, come on in. You're lucky the doorbell didn't wake up Veela, xe is a bit cranky today-" he snickers like that was somehow its fault.

"...right, well, what were you doing?"

Foxy follows Kosmos into its house while they talk and takes her shoes off at the door. Kosmos flops onto the couch in his living room and gestures for Foxy to take a seat.

"Just watching this show called Tokyo Revengers. I finished it like 5 minutes before you showed up, it was pretty good."

Foxy plops down on the loveseat and looks around the room. There's a couple random messes, but for the most part it's decently clean.

"Were you planning on sleeping soon?" It doesn't look like it, but Foxy asks anyways.

It ignores him for a second, then sighs and starts looking for another anime to binge. "Not really. Work is in 6 hours and I couldn't get enough sleep in that time, so anime it is."

Weird, that seems like enough time to fall asleep and still get up on time.

"Why can't you sleep? Something on your mind?"

"Isn't digging into my personal life unprofessional?"

"It's not in the handbook."

"..."

It scrolls through its watch list, not finding anything interesting enough to watch tonight. He gives up, turning off the TV, and flipping over to face its "boss."

"I just... Ugh! I don't know what's wrong with my brain lately. I keep thinking about this one thing and it won't go away, no matter how much I distract myself!"

Foxy can tell that its too tired to fight her questions, so she keeps asking them.

"Well, what is it?"

His face, already a dark tone, turns a shade of red that answers all her other questions immediately. He stares at the floor, unwilling to answer and mad that it can't find a way out of this conversation.

"You're not stupid, I know you know what's going on. I really am kinda horrified of romantic relationships but it- it- I can't even sleep! There's something wrong with me."

The neko sympathized for him, but also found it adorable. Kosmos and Archie weren't the most romantic pair, but they loved each other and everyone knew that.

Foxy sighed, snatching the remote from Kosmos's hand.

"Come on, let's rewatch Given."

~~~
The pair started loosing track of time at around hour 3, but Foxy's alarms started going off at around 7 am, around the middle of the Given movie. Foxy forced Kosmos to get up and get ready for work while she made breakfast.
A little after the human void got out of the shower, it came back downstairs, Veela on his tail.
"Mmmm Foxy? What're you doing here?"
Kosmos slid into the kitchen on his socks, grabbing a plate of eggs and answering Veela before Foxy could.
"They showed up last night."
"More like this morning."
Veela shooed Foxy to go sit and eat with Kosmos, then started making coffee for xirself. They didn't seem too concerned by Foxy randomly showing up, and they treated her as a friend, so Foxy was fine with her day so far. But to be fair, it had really only just started.
At 8:30, Foxy hopped on their motorcycle and drove back to the coffee shop. Veela was the one with a license, so they dropped Kosmos off about 15 minutes behind Foxy.
The shop didn't technically open till 10, but everyone started shift at 9 to start setting everything up. Kape was a few minutes later than Kos, but the third employee never showed up.
At 9:59 am, a bubbly blond stood outside the coffee shop door, waiting for the open sign to be flipped.
Foxy smiled as they walked over to the door, unlocking it and turning the sign to say "Enter at your own risk" from the outside.
The girl entered after Foxy had walked back behind the counter. Kape was taking orders today, so that's who she walked up to.
"Can I just get my usual please, Kape? I'm gonna go sit in the small booth and finish up something for work today."
She handed Kape a ten and the girl took it, nodded, and gave her back her change.
"I'll have Foxy bring it over in a few minutes An0n. Do you want it to go?"
"No, that's okay! My shift doesn't start for an hour."
Kape smiled and nodded again, and Foxy watched as she started brewing coffee in a blue pot. Foxy didn't really know what to do as manager, so she kinda just tried hiding in a small office off in the side of the shop.
A few minutes later, Kape walks in.
"Why ya hiding? I thought you said you were gonna ask An0n out today. She's not very busy, and I told her you'd bring her the coffee she got."
Foxy stared down at his desk. No, he wasn't going to interfere with this part of the au. This world's Foxy can do it tomorrow.
"Ah, I'm not feeling so well Kape. Plus, if I asked her out, she would definitely say yes. Then I wouldn't be able to flirt with you as much~" She winked at her friend and watched red flood to their face.
"O-oh. W-well I'm gonna go- give her- her coffee- BYE." And he was gone.
From the office, Foxy watched Kape on the cameras. They walked over to An0n, set down her coffee, then let An0n get back to work.
Maybe it was a missed opportunity, but there will be other aus for Foxy to flirt with An0n in.
~~~

Foxy had mostly stayed in their office all day. They were still the manager, so they watched the cameras to make sure nothing goes wrong, but leaving the small room meant risking saying something wrong to the wrong person.

She glanced over at the clock on the wall and sighed. It was only 3 pm. But just as he was gonna go back to working, they felt their phone vibrating aggressively against their pocket.

The caller ID read "Fishy 🐟" and Foxy grinned. He swiped up on the screen and held the phone to his ear while he laid back in their chair.

"Wassup Nemo?"

"Don't call me that! Jesus. Anyways I was just uh- just wondering if Kosmos was working today?"

"Wouldn't you like to know, weather boy?"

"FOXY this is SERIOUS. I know it's scheduled to work today but I was just making sure it didn't call out sick or anything-"

"You planning something?"

"Foxy please-"

She started laughing and looked at the cameras to find Kosmos trying to drown Kape in something that looked like spoiled whip cream.

"Yeah yeah, he's here."

"Thank you! Bye!"

Foxy didn't even respond before the line went silent. He sighed and stood up, then walked out of his office.

The shop was relatively empty for the afternoon. Only one or two customers around the booths doing whatever they were doing. One Foxy recognized as Theo, but he just kept that to himself.

Kape broke away from Kosmos's grip and ran over to Foxy to hide behind her. The Polish boy glared at them and tossed away whatever he had been trying to torture them with. Foxy just sighed and pulled Kape out from behind her.

The two workers stuck their tongues out at each other like small children before finally getting back to work. Just as Kosmos walked into the back to grab more whip cream, a brunette with a messy man bun and all the confidence of a dead rock walked in the door.

Foxy stood at the edge of the counter and Kape took their place at the register to take Nemo's order. It didn't walk up to the counter immediately, it seemed to be looking around for something. Or someone. Finally, it walked up to Kape.

"Hey Kape-" it looked over at Foxy and gave a half wave, "and hey Swiss Miss. Where's- where's Kosmos?"

Kape gave it a small smirk and clicked their pen. "He'll be back in a few minutes. Just your usual today? I can have him bring it to you."

"Yeah okay." It handed them a five and turned away, walking to a booth next to the window.

Kosmos returned from the back of the store, whip cream at the ready. He spotted Ar sitting across the room and it's face lit up a bit.

Kape snickered and handed him Archie's drink. Foxy winked at it and shooed him towards the person in question. "Go get em horsy."

It glared at her as a faint blush formed on its cheeks and he wispered a quiet "don't call me that."

~~ Camera is now following Kosmos ~~

Kosmos looked down at the drink in his hand and smiled. It was the only drink Ar ever got, and Kos knew it by heart. Once, he decided to try it, but immediately hated it. It didn't understand why Archie liked it.

The person in question looked up from its phone and made eye contact with Kosmos. The boy lit up and walked a bit faster towards his friend. He set down the drink when he got to its table and handed over its change for the five.

It grabbed the drink and the change and nodded. "Thanks Kosmos. Are you busy?"

"I mean not really, it's pretty slow-"

"Sit then."

It mouthed a short "oh" before complying. He looked over at Foxy to make sure it was okay to sit for a minute, but she was already waving it off.

Ar took a sip of its drink, then just stared at the table for a second. It was obvious that it hadn't thought this through all the way.

Kosmos went to break the silence, but Nemo stopped it.

"I promise I asked you to sit down for a reason."

Kosmos rolled its eyes and started messing with the stuff on the table. "Well? What was it?"

It opened it's mouth to speak but no words came out. It turned away and glared at the floor, then looked back to Kos. "Kosmos I-" but it cut itself off and covered its face with its hands.

"Yesssss?"

From 20 feet away, Foxy considered throwing something at them.

Archie sighed and put its hands back on the table. It made eye contact with Kosmos, and didn't look away.

"Kos, I know you're probably aro, and that's alright," Kosmos stiffened as he started to understand, "but I really like yo-"

Its confession was cut off by Kosmos practically jumping on the table to shut its mouth. He was beet red and his eyes were still wide with surprise.

When he realized what he did, he quickly pulled his hand off Nemo's mouth and sat back in it's chair.

At this point, Ar was speechless. Had Kosmos stopped it because he was uncomfortable, or-

"I like you. Boom! Said it first, loser. L+ratio."

"....You- You do???"

Kos rolled his eyes, but he stared at the table in embarrassment. "Well duh, isn't that what I just said?"

"It is. God, it really is. You're serious right? You're not messing with me?"

The boy looked up at his friend who had just grabbed his hands like he was gonna run away from it. He couldn't help but smile.

"I'm not."

Archie pulled Kosmos forward and leaned in to press their foreheads together.

"...Promise?"

"Yeah, promise."

It nodded and after a moment, kissed him. Kos didn't know what to do, at all, but he leaned into it and thought about how Kape was probably recording this.

~~ Foxy, hours later ~~

It has taken three whole hours to get Kosmos back to work. Foxy was all for letting a romance go on, but there was still stuff that needed to get done.

The shop closes at 8 today. Yesterday it had been open till 10, that's why Foxy had just been finishing cleaning at midnight.

Luckily, sometime during the day, Foxy had found their address in this au. And since it wasn't really busy all day, there wasn't really much cleaning to do. So at around 9ish pm, Foxy and Kape locked up the cafe.

The coffee boy, in every au apparently, walked with Foxy to their motorcycle. Kape walks home, but Foxy had offered to give him a ride today because it was raining.

"So, you're gonna send me that video right?"

Kape laughed and clicked on Foxy's contact in their phone. "Of course I will. I can't believe you let Kosmos sit with Archie for so long."

Foxy tossed the boy an extra helmet and hopped on the bike. "Yeah, well, he needed it." They clicked on their own helmet and helped Kape onto the bike.

"Yeah, I guess he did."

~~~
Foxy spent way too long talking to Kape at their house. By the time they actually got home, it was half past 10 already. She tried a couple keys, eventually finding the one that unlocked their door.
They stepped into the apartment and let out a drastic sigh. The place was nice and homey, yes, but it felt so tiring to know that they were gonna be sucked away from it in an hour.
He spotted a small cat on the couch and walked over to it. She picked it up and held it up, then flopped sideways onto his couch. The cat meowed in annoyance but didn't try to run away.
The air was quiet but calm and it helped Foxy's nerves. She was painfully tired, but she didn't wanna think about anything negative tonight.
While the small feline purred softly on his chest, Foxy's eyes fell closed and she tried to think of sleep.
Sleep, sleep, sleep-
But he would not get it.
It only felt like his eyes had been closed for mere minutes, but she already felt the uncomfortable cold void around them.
Their eyes snapped open and they tried to keep from screaming in rage. This had become less scary, and more annoying.
When were they gonna go home? When were they gonna get a damn break?
When the thing grabbed him, he just hissed as he was drug through the void. He glared at every door she passed and clawed uselessly at the void.
Her body halted to a stop in front of a red glowing door and he sighed. It wasn't really red, but it wasn't really orange. It looked like it was fire moving on a paper.
The door creaked open, and on the back of the door was a deep blood red color that looked concerningly like actual blood.
But Foxy didn't have time to think about it, because he was shoved into the white light that made up the doorway.
~~~

3045 words.... I'm gonna cry.

That- that was long.

Jesus Christ.
