{17th July 2020}
—"OH MY gosh!" sasha smiled, pulling the boy into an embrace. the warmth of the hug made her smile brighten, the sense of being overwhelmed baring onto her. "you did not tell me you were coming."

"where would the fun be in that?" she felt him laugh against her shoulder. sasha pulled away, the corner of her eye seeing the brunette boy who had been standing to the right of her, no longer there. she furrowed her eyebrows at the absence of corbyn. but that confusion fizzled away when met the raven-haired boy standing across from her.

"and who may this be sasha?"

sasha turned around to see carmen making her way over with dahlia by her side. soon enough, the whole group -except corbyn- had made their way over to meet this stranger who had just embraced the singer.

"oh guys you can finally meet him!" she turned around, noticing worried looks made between daniel and francesca. sasha just shrugged it off, thinking something had happened before she walked in.

"this is xavier." sasha held her hand out, giving the stranger a name. before she could say more, sasha caught rebecca making her way over to the group. when she saw xavier, she stopped. and smiled.

"oh fuck off are you here!? oh my god, come here!"confusion was present for all of the group except sasha and rebecca, the two smiling at one another before rebecca pulled the taller boy into an embrace.

"i'm going to be the dumb one here and ask the question." zach spoke up, catching sasha's attention. "-how do you know him?"

"well considering he's my cousin would be the main reason how i know him."

"cousin?"

"that is why i just said zachary." sasha said with a laugh. she didn't notice the look made between daniel and zach, them looking at one another before daniel turned around to leave.

when dahlia grabbed his shoulder.

"let me." she simply said. daniel sighed, nodding his head at his girlfriend. she smiled, bringing daniel into a brief kiss before turning away.

"as a welcoming present to you xavier- let me go get a round of shots!" cheers were exclaimed around the group, dahlia still hearing them as she walked away. all the way to the bar, where a lonely corbyn sat.

"hey babe." dahlia said, swinging an around corbyns shoulder before taking the seat next to him. "-i saw you earlier."

"what?" he took a large sip of his brand new bottle of corona. dahlia sighed, leaning back on the barstool, taking in corbyns drunken persona.

"just go and talk to her before you drown your insides with fucking alcohol." an annoyed look appeared on dahlias face as corbyn turned to face her. he scoffed, shaking his head, taking another sip.

"why? she's got new company."

"oh for fuck sake corbyn." dahlia murmured. she raised her hand, catching the bar lady's attention, her coming over swiftly. "-can i get a round of shots please? any will do. okay thanks." dahlia smiled, holding her card out to the bartender.

"could you open a tab at the same time? thank you."

corbyn turned his head to see dahlia sending another smile to the bartender. when she turned around to look at corbyn, the smile faltered. "oh corbyn- honestly go talk to her."

"like i said- why should i? she seems happy."

"yeah well maybe it's because her cousin is in town who she hasn't seen in a while? maybe think of it like thag corbyn. so maybe it's time for you to stop mopping around, it's your release party. i know you are sad- you're allowed to be. but corbyn babe, for both your and sasha's sake- talk to her."

with the shots ready before her, dahlia let out a deep sigh. glancing at corbyn once more, dahlia leaned over grabbing hand. "look- you know we all mean well right?"

"totally." he murmured.

"good- we will be over there when you're ready." she leaned close to corbyn, givng him a half-hug, her other hand pre-occupied with the tray of shots. she leaned down giving corbyn a kiss on the temple. nothing romantic. more of a reassurance between two friends. just like carmen, dahlia acted like another sister he didn't know he needed.

"you need to also stop drinking- have a break." she pointed at the bottle. "-have some water or fanta or something corbs- before you do something wrong."

"take the bottle." he sighed, dahlia sending him a small smile before grabbing the bottle from his hands, placing it on the tray of shots.

"could i have a glass of-" she looked at corbyn for him to answer the question.

"-water please. and a fanta."

"coming right up." the bartender said with a sweet smile. of which both corbyn and dahlia reciprocated. she gave him one final hug before walking away, reuniting with their friends metres away.

cheers and clinking of glasses perked corbyn's ears, his peripheral vision allowing him to see some of the group tilting their heads back as the alcohol ran down their throats.

two glasses, one clear and one containing the orange fizzy drink were placed before him. corbyn gave a brief smile and thanks to the bartender, her disappearing quickly afterwards. sipping the cool water down made corbyn close his eyes in relief. it felt like the water was simply washing around the lingering taste of alcohol that lingered on his tongue.

he gulped the water down quickly. he didn't even realise he had down so until he lifted the glass up again, to find nothing in it. the glass of orange fanta was still there, corbyn debating whether to down that too.

corbyn leaned forward, setting his feet on the ground. he was going to go socialise. he was going to talk to sasha, and clear the air. properly this time. one more debatable glance at the fanta- debating whether to drink it, or leave it with the bartender in case he wanted, or needed it later.

"i don't think I've ever seen you debate whether or not to drink fanta."

a laugh was heard when corbyn jumped, his hand clasping his heart. he knew who it was, just by the softness of their voice. and that laugh. the laugh he has grown to appreciate. the laugh he has grown to love deeply.

"can i sit?" corbyn nodded, a deep breath escaping his lips, sitting himself back in his chair. he watched the raven-haired girl sit down beside him, a full glass of what corbyn assumed was bacardi rum and coke. she gave him a small smile, bringing her face forward, away from his lingering glance.

"are you sure your friend over there would be fine with you sitting here with me?" corbyn mumbled. he stole a glance at sasha, her furrowing her eyebrows. he felt her eyes on him as he ordered himself another beer, deciding he wanted another drink- that was the alcoholic kind.

"who?"

"your friend." he nodded his head in the direction of the stranger he had yet to introduce himself to.

"who xavier?"

"oh that's his name. huh interesting." corbyn smiled at the bartender, taking a large sip of his drink. he heard sasha mutter her own choice of drink to go along with her alcoholic beverage already in hand.

he saw movement out the corner of his eye, bringing his attention to sasha. she was resting her arm on the side of the bar, her body facing his way. he had her entire attention, something corbyn wasn't ready for. so he turned his face away, his hand fiddling with the corona beer bottle.

"my cousin."

"what?" he furrowed his eyebrow at her random comment. she let out a laugh, bringing confusion to bare with corbyn. sasha took a sip of her newly ordered drink, enjoying the taste of a drink corbyn couldn't guess what it contained.

"xavier. you should come meet him."

"I'll pass."

"huh- you won't come meet my cousin?" corbyn furrowed his eyebrows once more, sasha holding back the smile attempting to crack through. he tilted his head. wait he's her cousin?

sasha nodded her head, her reading corbyns mental questions. he let out a deep breath, his head falling into his hand.

"god i'm a fucking idiot."

"for being jealous of my cousin? yes. yes you are corbyn." sasha's words had a lighthearted tone to them, bringing corbyn to let out a low laugh. he brought his eyes to meet sasha's, them squinting as she let out a laugh.

"shit sash i'm sorry."

"don't stress, i thought I'd come over and say hi."

"that's it?" sasha leaned forward, giving corbyn's hand a gentle squeeze.

"that, and corbyn, i want you to come over and hang with us- cause i miss you and your upbeat self."

"really."

"really corbs- now don't get used to me being nice." sasha took the last gulp of her drink, holding up her second one she was yet to finish from before. corbyn watched her stand up from the stool, stepping closer to him. she leaned forward, corbyn hitching his breath.

when her lips hovered his cheek before planting a kiss, corbyn stared wide eyed.

"now come lover boy."

corbyn knew sasha was drunk, just by the fact she was now grabbing his hand, his free hand grabbing his beer bottle. if she was sober, she wouldn't be holding his hand and dragging him over to the group.

but here they were.

and corbyn was somewhat thankful for sasha being nice to him, even when he thought he didn't entirely deserve it.
