Val's POV

Today was Thorins funeral. I bathed as I let the maids do my hair In silence. I was supposed to give a speech along with Fili Kili and Dwalin. I was feeling very nervous. I slipped on a emerald green gown as I heard a knock at the door

"Are you ready love?"

"Yes I'll be there in a second."

I stepped out as Fili grabbed my hand as we made for where the funeral would take place. We entered the large room where candles where lit everywhere and the whole crowd dressed in black. Fili squeezed my hand as he made a move to leave

"Where are you going?"

"I'll be back in a moment. " He reassured as made for the back.

The musicians began to play as I gasped at the sight of the procession. On each side of the stretcher there were three people carrying Thorin. Fili Kili and Dwalin on one side and Bard Thrandruil and Legolas on the other with Bilbo trailing behind carrying the arkenstone. Thorin was dressed all in white with his hair and beard combed and complexion clean and smooth. So much majesticness though..... They went up as they placed him the casket arms folded. Fili came back and squeezed my hand and Kili on the other side with a bit of tears in his eyes.

"We are gathered here today. To mourn over the loss of Thorin Oakenshield, King Under the Mountain. Thorin was a natural leader. He proved his courage, his strength, and bravery in the battle Of Moria. He took it upon himself to take care of his people and a wonderful job he did at that. I could spend hours up here rumbling on how wonderful and majestic Thorin is but I think there are some people that can do that for me. Dwalin would you come and start your speech?"

Dwalin nodded as he stepped up to the podium "usually I am not the type of person to do these kinds of speeches. I'm not an expert. I am a warrior, but I can make an exception. Thorin was my best friend. He always has and he always will be. He was strong loyal brave courageous friend. He stuck up for me in my ups and downs and I for him. He is the truest friend I could ever ask for, a true king."

He stepped off the podium as Fili and Kili took the stage Fili speaking for them both.

"We are proud and honored to be related to our uncle, Thorin, Son of Thrain son of Thror,
King under the mountain. He was the one that looked after us putting us in line when we- mainly Kili were misbehaving. " That got a laugh out of the audience "he showed us how to be a prince of Erebor giving us guidance and advice when we most needed it. He taught us to look after one another over the ones we loved. If only we could look after you uncle if only we could. we think of you as a father, and we've never been more honored."

They stepped down as they came to their positions next to me on either side. Bilbo then came up to the podium as he looked at the crowd wondering what he was going to say.

"You seemed surprised that a hobbit would know a dwarf, I was even surprised about the whole adventure we went on. The adventure all in all was to say the least, unexpected one. I am a Baggins of Bag end, a hobbit I never saw my self going off into the blue on adventure with the company of dwarves a wizard and myself. I never saw myself escaping goblins persuading trolls or fighting orcs. I am forever grateful to Gandalf for this experience. I have been given the privilege to befriend, aid and fight side by side with Thorin Oakenshield. He was a fighter and a leader. He cared about his homeland deeply and all the people that he knew. I will remember our friendship till the end of my days. So for now, I bid Thorin a very fond farewell. "

Bilbo then proceeded to place the Arkenstone on his chest as he put his hands over it for protection "Goodbye dear friend."

He stepped down as he went back to his seat. It was my turn as I slowly went up to the podium nerves building at every second.

"Hi. " I smiled weakly as the dwarves looked confused "like Dwalin said in not an expert on these sort of things since it is the first funeral I've ever been through. There are no words to describe my friendship with Thorin Oakenshield. He is like a father to me. I know most of you think He Was he was a father. But the truth is he is still with us. He's with us through the halls of Erebor, on the streets of Dale, even right now. He will always be with us, resting in the great halls of his forefathers. (That right?) He will be remembered through generation to generation."

I stood at the podium in silence. I felt like something was missing. I couldn't leave it just yet. It had to be done justly. I knew what I was going to do. I began to sing the media section. (Go ahead and watch it)

The audience had tears in there eyes. I still wasn't done. Almost but not quite.

"I saw the light fade from the sky, on the wind I heard a sigh as the snowflakes cover my fallen brothers i will sing the last goodbye....." (Last goodbye by Billy Bloyd I see Fire by Ed SHEERAN. She singing just fyi)

The whole audience began to hum the tune as the whole hall filled with a melody.

"Over hill and under tree, through lands where never light has shone. By silver streams that run down the sea. Under cloud beneath the stars over snow and winters men I turn the last paths that lead home..."

"Many places I have been, many sorrows I have seen, but I don't regret, nor I will forget, All that took that road with me. Night is now falling so ends this day. The road is now calling and I must away...."

"To these memories I will hold, with your blessing I will go. To turn the last paths that lead me home. And where the road takes me, I cannot tell, we came this way. But now comes the day to bid you farewell.... I bid you a very fond farewell..."

Just has been done for Thorins funeral. I stepped down shakily as Fili squeezed my hand. One by one everyone went Up to the casket said there farewell and went to the dining hall. All that were left is me Fili Kili and Bilbo. Fili and Kili said there goodbye as they hugged for a few minutes. Bilbo was next as small tears landed on the arkenstone. I was finally able to say goodbye.

"Goodbye Thorin. See you soon. " I kissed his forehead and gently closed his eyes. I made back to the group where Bilbo waited.

"I am privileged to meet everyone of you. If you ever decide to make a trip to the Shire tea time is at three."

I knelt down and hugged the hobbit. "Well give you a notice this time." I chuckled "goodbye dear Bilbo. I hope to see you again."

He nodded as he began his journey home.

"I bid you a very fond farewell."
