Val's POV

It had been several hours since Fili Kili Bofur and Oin arrived. We had all tried to persuade Thorin but he wouldn't budge. Bard came and Thorin refused his deal. We finally began to retire for sleep. Fili grabbed my hand as we made for a hall by the front gate.

"I'm so glad your back." I whispered

"So am I love So am I. He gently touched my calf where the burn was as I let out a yelp.

"What happened?" He began to poke gently

"Stop. Poking." I gritted my teeth as he realized what he was doing.

"I'm sorry but you should have that looked at. "

"I did. Oin said to have it bandaged and apply water to it every once and awhile. We don't have enough medical supplies."

"Well then we might as well clean it. " Fili tore a part of his shirt off as he dumped it in water and put it to my calf as I hissed.

"It stings."

"I know." He wrapped up a new cloth as we leaned against the wall.

Soon Fili was asleep with his arms draped around me. I couldn't sleep. Soon enough Fili was snoring and Bilbo came pattering up the hall. He froze when he saw me.

"I know what your doing. Your secrets safe with me." I whispered

"Thank you." Bilbo nodded as he vanished down further where he would give the arkenstone.
