Cutting Ties
The incident. It's been a week since it happened. To Bella, it was terrifying. And yet she didn't know why she agreed to go on another date, even after the whole schedule was finished.
Maybe it was because her worries were soothed by her gentle and calm voice. Or maybe she was tempted with sexual pleasure.
Either way, here she was. With Beelzebub. At a popular amusement park in the Pride Ring. At first, she thought it was Loo Loo Land. Remembering back in Ozzie's club, how Fizzarolli once made a joke about some "batshittery" that happened there.
However, it was the amusement park that Loo Loo Land was a ripoff of. Lu Lu World. Said to be bigger and more popular than its counterpart.
Bella had a good time with the sin. Getting on some fun rides and indulging in sweet, tasty food.
Not too long as of now, they got some candy apples. Delicious apples on a stick dipped in caramel.
Bella enjoyed the sweet taste. As she took a bite out of her apple, she decided to ask a question out of curiosity. "What's Mammon's like?"
Bee almost choked. She didn't expect that kind of question from her. "Oh, um, Mam?" She looked at Bella with a look of surprise.
"Yeah... I've heard of him quite a lot from Asmodeus and Fizzarolli, but they never quite gave me an answer about what he was like," Bella shrugged. "I mean, is he really a bad person?"
Bee scratched the back of her head. "Well, he's not exactly the best."
"After I met you and Asmodeus, I kind of assumed the other sins were nice," a lit up. "I mean, I get that he is the representation of greed, but a lot of people are greedy. But that doesn't make them bad people."
"Mammon isn't just greedy..." Beelzebub sighed. "It's complicated. You might meet him one day, but I'd rather you not."
"Okay...?" Bella raised a brow. "Well, I can't wait to meet the other sins, like Satan or Bel. So many imps say Satan's name quite a lot, so he must be really cool."
"Yeah, Satan is the big house," Beelzebub chuckled. "I think you two will get along just fine."
The demon took another bite of her candy apple. "You know, I've been pretty worried about my dad lately," Bella started to change the subject. "I keep thinking he's going to jump out at us when we least expect it."
"Well, it's been a week, hun," Beelzebub smiled as she reassured. "Maybe Bill just-"
She froze. Bella stopped, and dropped her candy apple out of shock. In front of them, floating a good distance, was none other than Bill Cipher.
"Holy shit."
Just Bella was just gonna grab Bee and try to run, her dad snapped his fingers. Blue glowing chains wrapped around her and Beelzebub.
"Not so fast, ladies," Bill glared, and he tugged on the chains, pulling both of them closer.
Bella and Beelzebub glared at the demon, and once they were a near good inches away from Bill, Bee was the first to speak.
"What do you want?" Beelzebub growled, remembering what happened last time. "Didn't we tell you to fuck off last time we ran into each other?"
"Ha, it's gonna take more than 'fuck off' to get rid of me that easily," Bill scoffed. "But to answer your first question, I came to speak with my daughter."
"Tough luck, dad," Bella rolled her eye. "After what happened last time, I want NOTHING to do with you."
"Bella, I know you don't mean that," Bill sighed.
"You tried to kill people I cared about, people that I built strong emotional connections with," Bella pointed out. "People that fell into dark times and needed me more than everyone else."
"Bella, not only were you going out with them, but you were sleeping with them," Bill spoke in a tone of disapproval. "AKA, letting them fuck you. You're 114 for crying out loud. How would you expect me to react?"
"Well, for starters, you didn't need to try to kill us," Bee spoke. "That's just overreacting. Besides, it's not like we forced Bella to do it."
"I don't care if my daughter had a choice in it or not, I don't approve of it," Bill snarled. "She shouldn't be doing that kind of thing."
"Dad, that still doesn't give you the right to kill the people I cared about," Bella glared. "If you cared about my feelings, you wouldn't hurt them."
"Bella, you're not ready to have a love life, let alone a sex life," Bill pointed out. "None of your lovers, especially this bitch right here, deserve you. One way or another, they're all gonna leave you."
"You don't know that!" Bella screamed.
"I do," Bill said. "Remember your mom. Way back when you forty? She left, and never came back. She abandoned us."
"You don't know that," Bella denied. "Maybe she didn't mean to abandon us. There was probably a misunderstanding."
"She's left us," Bill repeated. "Just like Constance, and everyone else did."
Bella looked at her dad with confusion. Constance. Her dad knew a lot of people, and she met some of those people. But Constance. That name spoke questions.
"Constance?" She blinked. "Who Constance?"
"It doesn't matter," Bill scowled. "The point is....those people you've been with. They don't need you. You don't need them. They don't matter."
"Dad, they are PEOPLE," Bella argued. "Living beings with feelings, just like us. They may not matter to you, but they matter to me. And I matter to them."
"Why must you think that?" Bill looked at her as if she was being ridiculous. "Constance and all of my exes....I didn't matter to them. Why do you matter to your lovers more than I did to mine?"
"Exes?" Bella was even more confused at that last statement. But before she could ask more questions, Bee spoke up.
"Maybe it was because she treated them better than you treated your own."
"What. Did. You. Just. Say?" Bill turned to the fox-like sin, rage in his eye. Despite this, Bee hardly flinched.
"You heard me," Bee then continued. "The reason why Bella matters to us is because she truly loves us. Unlike you, she's selfless. She cares about our feelings and our happiness. A lot of us were wronged in life, and Bella helped us gain hope. She gave us comfort and made us happy."
"You on the other hand....maybe Constance and your 'exes' left you because you weren't giving them what Bella gave us. We had a happy relationship. But you... you're always constantly hurting people and putting yourself before them. Perhaps they left you because you hurt them. They had a toxic relationship and they weren't happy with how you were treating them. How you were hurting them. You gave them discomfort and made them unhappy because you were selfish."
Bill growled, and got to eye level with Beelzebub. "You think you're so smart? You were never there. You don't know what happened, you pathetic bit-"
"You better show some respect!" Bella snapped, having freed herself and Beelzebub out of the chains with the wink of an eye, and got in between to defend Beelzebub.
"Check your behavior. No one talks to Beelzebub that way. Did you expect us to sit back and take your insolent brazen display?"
Bill smirked, deciding to taunt his daughter's fed up behavior.
"You've got it twisted. I'm not the one who needs a new attitude.
Maybe you've missed it, but I'm that hashtag bitch, and I will do nothing less than what I please (woo!)
I'm the backbone of the villains
Mad that I acted respectless, well it's because no one expected this
Sorry, couple attending
Since when are ciphers so soft
You're long past trending
Sorry, bae, but I ain't swiping right
You've lost your relevance!"
Beelzebub murmured as she crossed her arms.
"We can't act without more intelligence."
Bill groaned in annoyance.
"No wonder I'm so respectless, I could eat you lot for breakfast."
Bella was beginning to get fed with her father's mocking behavior.
"You and the villains are inane and uninformed! Smug wannabes who don't heed when you've been warned."
Bill continued to his taunt his daughter.
"Oh, did I strike a nerve?
'Cause when I brought up your bitches,
I couldn't help, but observe, that your yellow flat face was turning red
And why are you avoiding sin?
That's what the family name stand for
Thanks to my bein' respectless
The thing I'm startin' to suspect is
There's a bitch you've forgotten
Do you have a disclosure?"
"THIS DISCUSSION IS OVER!"
Bill was shaken. But not because Bella snapped at him, but because of the look in her eye. Tears rolling down her cheeks. She was crying, and Bill didn't even know why.
"You knew, didn't you?!" Bella snapped. Bill was confusion, he figured that was another lover his daughter was in love with, but he didn't know who it was.
"You were the one that told Cassandra to kill Evelyn, didn't you?!" Bella continued. "You never cared about me. All you cared about was yourself!"
"Bella-" Bill was about to say something. He wanted to ask her what she was talking about. Clarify that he didn't know about Evelyn and that whatever Cassandra, he didn't make the call.
"I don't wanna hear it!" Bella snapped. "If there's one thing I won't forgive Cass for, it's taking the life of the person who was the first to help me when I was in a tight spot. And if you were involved, I would never forgive you."
Bella continued to cry, and Bill watched as she pulled out what seemed to be a halo. Not just any halo. One of an exorcist.
"I watched her die. I woke up, and the first thing I saw was those cursed rocks piercing through her skin.
Even after I pulled her out, I couldn't save her. I watched her lose so much blood and die, and all I could do was hold her close and beg her not to go.
But you wanna know what hurts the most? That her own last words were....an apology. 'I'm so sorry'. And what was even worse was that she died while smiling."
Bill, and even Beelzebub, was shocked. While Bill did want to kill her lovers, it was more out of rage and overprotection. Now...seeing his daughter so heartbroken and devastated by a death he didn't command....it ate him up.
"Sweetie, I..."
"Save it," Bella cut him off coldly, and floated over to Beelzebub. "We're leaving. This discussion is over. And this better be the last time I see you. Because if all you cared about is making me miserable instead of happy....then I don't want you to be a part of my life."
.....
Present
"And that's how my Dad and I split, hopefully for good this time," Bella sighed.
After meeting Sasha, Grime, the rest of the army, and getting settled into their temporary home, Bella told Fern about her dad when she was beginning to worry about what he would be doing.
"That must've been really hard for you," Fern frowned. "I mean, cutting your dad out of your life. Not to mention Evelyn. What happened to her, she doesn't deserve that."
"No, she didn't," Bella shook her head. "No one deserves that. I was always so tired of Cassandra messing with my life that bothering her back was also part of the reason I made the Deciphers."
"Do you really think your dad ordered Evelyn's death?" Fern asked, feeling really bad.
"I don't know, but maybe," Bella sighed. "Evelyn's death was why I was so scared about the incident. What happened to her could've happened to you guys too."
"Yeah, but don't worry, Billie, Dipper, and I are here to stay," Fern smiled as she wrapped her arms and tail around Bella. "Perhaps when we get back.... All of us can give Evelyn a proper funeral, and pay our respects."
".....I think she'd like that."
