Chapter 29

Serenity had never felt so close before.

Like this, sitting beside Jimin on a beach, the waves of the sea kissed her toes and went back again and again. The soft noise of it numbing her senses like a whoosh of magic. It was evening now, the sky a blend of pink and orange. The sun almost settled. It was all the more drawing her towards this calming bliss because Jimin was sitting beside her, and that itself made all the things so much different. She felt oddly connected to him, and she tried to pin point an explanation for it but she didn't get any.

Maybe they'd just come a long way.

The rest of her friends were either inside the villa or playing volleyball a little away from where the both of them were sitting. She had many reasons to be happy today, the fans were supporting them, Ivey was pregnant, Jimin was beside her.

She smiled to herself, leaning a little towards Jimin, their shoulders grazing. She took out a cigar from her pocket, holding it between her lips before lighting it with a lighter. She inhaled a drag, letting the burn settle in her lungs before puffing the smoke out.

She looked up at Jimin, offering the cigarette. He nodded silently but she didn't give it to him, instead she took another drag of it and leaned towards his face. Instinctively, he opened his mouth as soon as she connected their lips together, the smoke invading his cravice.

Jimin didn't let go of her, though, instead moved his lips into an urgent, fleshy kiss. A surge of heat flooded in her stomach, couldn't help but just give in to the indulging kiss. When they separated, Jimin kept her face close to her by the grip of his hand behind her neck.

"You're going a little wild with your fantasies, Lorraine Acker."

A breathy chuckle left her lips as she drew back from him. She gave him the cigar this time, he took it from her with a smirk, placing it between his plump lips and inhaling, puffs of interesting smoke patterns leaving his mouth.

He looked a little deep in thoughts, so she asked, "are you alright? Are you coping well?"

Jimin hummed in response, looking ahead of him. "I know you dont like it when I say this, but I really am tired of this industry, even if I chose it upon myself..."

Her lips parted but she didn't say anything, letting him continue.

"Trust me, I love the fame, and I'm truly grateful for where I am today because... most people don't get to. I wish..." He trailed out, inhaling sharply. Lorraine knew something had been bothering him from the start. "I wish I could've saved some people from coming to this industry."

"What do you mean?" She asked softly, inching a little closer to him. She gasped lightly when his eyes suddenly glistened with a glassy layer of tears.

"I..." His expressions looked troubled now, as if he was physically aching to think whatever he was thinking. "I had a younger brother. He was...he looked up to me a lot. Said he'd follow my footsteps of being a singer. I loved him so much...I just wanted the best for him, I swear..."

Lorraine could see he wanted to tell the whole story, she could see it in his eyes that he was reminiscing from memory to memory, trying to cut it down for her. It was clear that he hadn't told this to anyone before. Somewhere between him remembering everything he had been through, he broke down. A tear sliding down his eye.

"On his first music video," Jimin sobbed, wiping his nose and looking down. Lorraine's hand reached out to wipe the tear off his cheek, just like she had done when he had cried the last time. "God, he was so happy. So, so happy. The music video had some special effects. He refused to use the green screen because I don't. There was a setup of cars...they were going to blast behind him while he danced in the front."

Shit. Lorraine's mind threw, if this was going to go how she was imagining it...

"They were shooting behind the scenes. He was playing around, sitting in one of the cars and pretending to drive it. It wasn't supposed to go off! The bomb wasn't supposed to go off! S-said it was an accident...so easy for them to say. So fucking easy."

"Oh god..." She whispered. Before Jimin could bury his face in his knees, she climbed on top of him, hugging him tightly. His face buried in her shoulder as sobs of pain erupted from his chest. He had never cried like this in front of someone, at least not willingly. His bandmates had seen him cry, he had had fits in front of them a lot of times.

"H-His body was entirely burned, if anything was even left of it. As if– as if he wasn't a person laughing moments ago, going to start a new life... I wish I'd have never let him come here. It's all my fault–"

Lorraine shushed him, stroking his back and trying to soothe the man who's been through so much, yet smiled.

"It's not your fault. You just wanted the best for him."

"And look where it led him!" Jimin yelped out. "My baby...no one even remembered him. No one cared..."

Lorraine couldn't say anything to comfort him, so she just simply held him.
She knew he wouldn't like to hear that it was alright when it clearly wasn't so she let him cry until he calmed down by himself, muttering hushed words in his ear to let him know that she was here.

"When we were attacked, it freaked me out b-because I had lost him in a car, I thought I'd lose you too. Even when you got crashed into the pole, I had gotten so scared..."

Lorraine's heart wrenched, hell if someone cared so much for her except for this man. What had she ever done to deserve him?

She turned her head to kiss his cheek. His eyes were closed, drops of tears resting on his eyelashes, eyebrows furrowed in pain. It was a new image for her, something he wouldn't just show to anybody.

Even when Jimin had came down from his wreck, he chose to let his head rest on her shoulder. She didn't let go either, he always used to hug her like he was the big person but today he snuggled into her like he needed to be protected from his past events.

Time passed like paper in the wind, but they stayed glued to eachother. The ocean waves still seeping their way to kiss their feets, the breeze sweet and warm. Felt like they had finally found a comfort spot,  she could feel his plump lips stretched into a smile when he kissed the honey skin of her shoulder.

Just to disturb the peaceful moment between the new couple, a very desperate looking Jungkook came running towards them.

"Hey! Lorraine, listen to me!"

He yelled, plopping himself down on the sand. His low waisted jeans was rolled up to his knees, sand covering his body and clothes. He was wearing a white shirt, rolled up to his elbows which showed his sleeve tattoo.

"Yeah?" She asked, getting off from Jimin and sitting beside him. Jungkook took out a Polaroid picture of her and Jimin hugging. It was taken moments ago, from behind. Jimin's face was buried in her neck while her hand was weaved in his hair. Behind them could be seen the endless ocean and the basked in pink sky.

"That's so beautiful." She cooed, already wanting to post the Polaroid picture kept on the sand.

"I'll give it to you if you tell me something." Jungkook grinned. She chuckled and nodded in agreement. He leaned closer to her ear to whisper,

"Do you think Ana might fancy me?"

She drew away. "Sure." She answered, "it's really not up to me."

"Yeah, but what's her type?"

Lorraine clicked her tongue. "Let's say close enough to you." She lied, the truth was Ana's taste in men was crap, always drawn towards the person who'd leave her completely shattered.

But if Jungkook was a good guy, she'd urge him to try.

"Okay." He grinned, handing Lorraine the Polaroid before scurrying off towards the volleyball court again. She was glad they were having fun.

Moans of delight left everyone's their lips as the delicious Korean delicacy Jin had handed out the recipe of filled their mouths.

"This chicken is worth dying for." Ana commented.

They had set up their dinner on the dining table placed outside the house with a perfect view of the end of the ocean enveloping half of the moon into it. It felt heavenly.

Everyone got busy in chit chatting, Lorraine could see Ivey discussing something with Jin while Matt stared at her with utter fondness in his eyes. She didn't know if Ivey had told Matt yet about the pregnancy.

Someone tapped her shoulder so she turned her head to face Yoongi sitting right beside her. She gave him a questioning look.

"Can I ask you something?"

She hummed in interest.

"How many retakes do you give in one scene?"

Lorraine scoffed a laugh, revising her recent events. Although the movie was over, it was a pain in the ass. It almost sabotaged her career.

"Ask me how many takes I give. I don't even go to set before the director threatens to kick me out of the movie."

Her smirked. "You're a spoilt one aren't you?"

"Not really, everyone does that."

"No but seriously," he urged, referring to the question.

"It depends, actually. It's not just to go in front of the camera and act. You need to get the character into you."

"Yeah, I've heard that. Locking yourself into the room to concentrate. Have you ever done that?"

"For this movie, I had to do it. I have to thank my director for reviving my career. I was being kicked out in the last scene."

Yoongi's eyes widened. "Really?"

"I...uh...left a mess behind me when I came to Korea." She sighed heavily. "I myself didn't know what the fuck I was acting."

"It must be tough."

"Tougher than it seems."

They chatted some more about work, Yoongi told her how he wanted to produce a movie and Lorraine kindly offered that she'd talk his way for her next movie project. She was going to ask a question to him when Matt stood up from his seat, grabbing everyone's attention.

"Since it's such a happy moment, I wanna add some more into it." He announced, and a smile flickered on Lorraine's face.

"My dear girlfriend here," he said, grabbing Ivey's hand and pulling her to stand beside him. "She's pregnant with our child."

The table erupted in cheers, Matt receiving pats on his back as everyone congratulated the couple. Ivey was in tears. Overlapping 'we're so happy for you' could be heard as it poured and poured more joy in their lives.
