Chapter 26
Lorraine was not usually a pessimist.
But she couldn't help but make the worst possibility in her mind when it came to officially meeting BTS. They had talked through video calls many times, she was well aware with their names and all. It was just the fact that she had practically ruined everything for them with her ego.
They didn't deserve to go through the criticism they went through because of the mess Jimin and Lorraine created.
Yet, when she met them, there was no sign of bare hate towards her. They were just as warm, just as radiant. There was no sign of guilt trip in their conversation and it made Lorraine feel even more bad than what she was feeling already.
They were so nice to her, even though she had ruined everything for them. Not directly, yes, but she was involved in the scandal that took place. It had drowned their reputation.
And they were still giving their hundred percent during the rehearsals. She couldn't believe someone could be so devoted to their fandom.
Being a thespian, Lorraine didn't have a fandom. She was just whole heartedly thankful to every person who had even watched a glimpse of her movies. She didn't have a bunch of devoted people who waited for her movie comebacks.
The passion in them was something different, and she could clearly see why they were what they were today. It made Lorraine remember her own passion, her own dream, her home, and the things she had gone through to reach there. How she loved every bit of it, she even welcomed the disadvantages of being a celebrity with wide arms. Up until recently when Jimin happened in her life and everything with him became intimate and personal. Not something that she'd let media make a show of.
The point was, their dedication made Lorraine feel inspired and she decided that she'd continue on the movie despite all the trouble. She had cracked her head for this particular movie, it couldn't be gone in waste.
They invited her in for a dinner, and one of the fellow members, Jin, couldn't stop chiming about how badly he wanted her to taste this delicious Korean delicacy he had discovered of some particular restraunt.
It made her happy - although she didn't quite know if she was deserving of this treatment - so she decided she'd make it up to them, in her own way. But she will.
Jimin notified that Mr. Bang si-Hyuk had called him and Lorraine during the evening when their photoshoots were over to discuss the rest of the deal.
So they left after everyone wrapped up.
Lorraine had no experience what so-fucking-ever when it came to dating, but turned out Jimin didn't have any as well, so they didn't have to follow the 'rules' of it. They could mold it according to their convenience. Also, they had already done a much lot to get their stomachs tingling with the idea of 'first coffee date'.
But they had to go on dates, is what Bang PD said.
He said that to overcome the sexual scandal, they'll have to prove that they are genuine and not just a bunch of morons. And they had to do it in a way in which public would find it cute so that they would get supporters.
Lorraine wanted to say that public opinion didn't matter, she really wanted to say that Jimin and her dating, were their choice and not the fans'. But she couldn't, because it wasn't the truth.
Yes, it was them who chose to date. But they couldn't let their careers go down the drain because of some people not liking who they were dating. So they had to prove that they really did like each other.
And this time, Lorraine wasn't afraid to do so.
When it was time to go, Lorraine told Jimin to wait outside because she wanted to have a personal conversation with the producer. Jimin gave a skeptical look but gave in eventually and got out of the office.
Lorraine turned towards Bang si-Hyuk.
"Mr. PD." She acknowledged.
"Yes?"
"First of all, thank you for handling this situation. I don't know how I would have handled it without your support."
"It's my work, miss Lorraine, you don't have to thank me for it."
She smiled kindly towards him.
"I know it's sudden and all, but I really wanna make up for making the rest of the band members roll into my scandal. Could I...take them to my island for a trip?"
Bang PD's eyes enlarged. "Like...now?"
She just shrugged her shoulders. "I don't think I'll get the time afterwards, besides, they really could use a break."
"I'll look into it. If I could come up with a clear schedule, they're all yours."
"Thank you." Lorraine grinned.
Bang PD smiled kindly. Lorraine got up and went outside the office to look for Jimin. He was just waiting outside for her.
"Let's go."
The car ride was filled with inner jokes, comments on Chihuahuas and plans on having champagne sex. We're on the verge of parking down an alleyway and fucking eachother's brains out, but then rembered that six sweeter than sweet men were waiting for them to have dinner along with inventing more inner jokes.
Midway through their drive, there was a hit on the side of their car, right on Lorraine's closed window. It made their heart get caught in their throats.
"JIMIN–!"
The next hit was on Jimin's side and both of them jumped in their seats, an ear-splitting shriek escaping their throats. It didn't take long for them to realize that they were surrounded by two biker on each sides, each of which people were holding metal rods in their hands.
"LORRAINE CROUCH DOWN!"
Jimin yelled while kicking on the gas pedal with full desperation, speeding the car and trying to get out of the situation in his panicked state. Fear crippling down his spine.
Another blow on Lorraine's side and the glass cracked, chunks of it flying towards Lorraine and one of them piercing into the flesh of her cheek.
Jimin's heart was thrumming heftily in his throat, the blow of the metal rod so strong it managed to unbalance the steering in Jimin's hand and made the car rear to the side, tires screeching.
Not the car, not in the car...
Jimin breathing was disheveling but he still tried to drive as fast as he could, his hands were shaking and he didn't dare look at Lorraine and her state because he knew that would toss him into a panic attack. Tears sprung to his eyes as he pursed his lips together, breathing deep.
He didn't know how the hell get succeeded to get out of the attack scene, but the bikers couldn't be seen anymore, nor were they chasing them. Soon, Jimin was entering his mansion and stopping the car right after the doors were closed after him.
He got out of the car and took a sprint towards Lorraine's side, opening the gate only to see what was the scene. Lorraine's cheek was split by the sharp glass still into her flesh, blood gushing out of it.
She still looked at alarm, terror stricken. Tears were flowing down her cheeks but no sound was coming out her mouth.
That was the last straw to Jimin's gathered up self, his breath hitched in his throat as he stumbled a few steps back, an intense wave of panic crashing down on him.
He didn't have any control over his breathing anymore, he couldn't see straight, couldn't get the picture of Lorraine out of his head. Memories after memories triggering his soul. He was crying loudly now, his hand covering his face.
Bring him back...
Then someone was pulling him away from Lorraine. Everything was swimming in front of him and he felt like he was choking on thin air. Why were they taking him away from Lorraine? He needed to be with her... Needed to be with her...
Someone was leading him somewhere inside the house, further and further into his home before entering a room and making him sit on something soft.
"Jimin...?" There was a distinct voice, becoming clearer as he slowly came back from his trance. "Jimin, are you alright?"
"H-Hyung..." He whimpered out. "R-Raine, hyung... S-She– she's hurt–"
Tears cascaded down his face, Lorraine was hurt, he needed to meet her, he needed to save her. Or it'll be too late.
"Hyung, where's she?!" He yelled, breaking down into sobs. "Where's she? She's hurt!"
"She's alright, Jiminie. You need to take your meds."
"No!" He yelled, sobs uncontrollably errupting from his throat. "Let me meet her, please."
He felt Yoongi grip at the side of his head and stroke his hair, probably trying to calm his disastrous mess of a form, but it wasn't working.
"I-I couldn't save him– couldn't- wasn't there– save him..." Jimin was blabbering, whimpering and weeping. "Let me save her."
"She's alright. I'll let you meet her once you take your meds, Jiminie, we don't want you to scare her even more than she already is, do we?"
After that, Jimin was quick to oblige to take his meds, which instantly calmed his breathing down, and he was falling limp against his hyung's chest, physically numb from inside, and his emotions turned into pure sadness.
"Let me meet her, please..." He sniffled, silent tears cascading down his cheeks.
"She's scared, Jimin."
"Hyung, please, I beg of you! I won't scare her, I promise! Promise, won't panic in front of her."
"Okay..." Yoongi whispered, leading Jimin to the room where Lorraine was in, occasionally telling him to stop crying but he failed to do so.
When he entered the room, he saw her, she was a mess herself, the cut on her cheek was now bandaged and she had this scared expression plastered on her face that made Jimin's heart shatter. Her knees were tugged close to her chest as she sat on the bed. Jin was rubbing down her back and trying to soothe her.
A strong need to protect washed over Jimin, heart wrenching at the sight of her. Of how hurt she was.
Why would anyone want to attack them?
He took small, cautious steps towards her as he saw everyone leave the room for them two, patting his shoulder reassuringly. Finally, he sat in front of her on the bed, exhaling a heavy breath of relief.
Carefully analyzing the droplets of tears brimming her lashes, he felt his throat burn and his eyes were quick to spring tears once again.
He had gotten so scared...
He didn't know what he'd do if something would have happened to her tonight. He might have gone insane.
Jimin pulled Lorraine into him without a second thought, rested her head against his chest and tried to remind himself that she was alright.
"You're so, so precious to me."
Although Jimin thought she was alright, she wasn't. Not mentally, at least.
It was too much to take, the way the shattered glass of the car window had pierced her flesh and burned, triggered memories she had subsided beneath her consciousness. And now they were unleashed and running wild in her mind.
All she had wanted to do was save her bitch of a mom and all she had gotten was a stab in the back on that fateful night. Literally.
The shattered wine bottle that had dug into her flesh. The way she couldn't even bring herself to scream because it pained too much and was enough to cut off her voice.
Her brother locked in the room...
While she lied there, losing blood for hours until one of the housemaids finally took a risky step to call the police and take her to the hospital.
"Raine? Are you alright?"
She was snapped back from her trance by Jimin's honey like voice, realising that her face was tucked securely in the crook of his neck and she was sitting on his lap, his hands securely wrapped around her.
"H-He'd...stab me–" She whimpered. "He– Jimin... he'd stab me again."
Her breathing hastened just like his was moments ago, sniffles of fear errupting her mouth.
Why wouldn't someone save her?
"I'm here now." He hushed, carressing her cheeks in the most endearing way possible. There was no one who could who could adore her the way he did.
"I'm here and you're safe."
Then they both laid down between the thick sheets, minds fucked and personalities reached the point of beyond sanity, yet at very much peace against each other.
