Chapter 25
Lorraine sat at the bed defeatedly, staring into nothingness as tears welled up in her eyes, her throat burning with emotions...and also for the sentence she was going to say next. She closed her eyes and inhaled deeply, her eyes boring into the fire burning in the fireplace.
But the heat was nothing compared to what Jimin's body was radiating beside her. It was something so entirely bizarre. There were just too many emotions and she couldn't now, she just couldn't. She had had enough.
"I love you, Jimin." She breathed out so defeatedly, shaking her head as the sudden rush of fear rippled through her. "I've always had, you've made me feel things I thought were never possible if not acting in a movie."
Jimin's head didn't snap towards her, instead, a tear dropped from his eye, staring into the same fire as hers.
"I tried to avoid it so much but it still happened. But if I have to choose between my career and you, with all due respect, Jimin... I'll have to let go. I'll always choose acting above anyone, perhaps even myself...so don't hope for me...don't-" She muffled her sobs with the back of his hand. "Don't wait...you don't deserve someone like me. You can have a simple life, a loving wife, honest money and children. I can't give that to you, I never gave that to myself."
Jimin didn't say anything, nothing. He licked his lips and then slowly nodded.
"Perhaps it's for the best..." He said. "But it doesn't happen I've tried it myself, and you know how much we're still hurting because of that."
She looked at him, eyes brimming with tears.
"Then what do I do?"
Jimin couldn't hold it in anymore, just looking at Lorraine made his body ignite in fire. And he was just craving this feeling more and more.
He gulped, lightly taking her hand and interlocking his fingers with hers, he leaned closer and rested his forehead on hers.
"Please don't push me, I'm trying to make you feel safe." He whispered and Lorraine instantly paralysed as his honey-like voice washed over her.
"I've never acted upon these kinds of emotions before, especially in public, I act upon wisdom... so I'm as new to this as you are, Lorraine."
A beat passed as Lorraine continued looking down. Yes, it was right, their recent events have been endured because of these foreign feelings that scared her to death.
Sometimes, she just wished to be a normal person. She didn't have to face all of this. But then she realised how much she loved this industry, it ran through her.
"What are you doing?" She asked as Jimin's fingers trailed up her arms, not understanding why they talking in hushed voices but it somehow was succeeding to soothe her down.
"Something I should have done a long time ago."
He cupped her face, making her look at him.
"We're gonna get through this together, Lorraine. It's fine, I understand...I was so caught up in doing the right thing that I forgot what the right thing was...it's you. It has always been you, Lorraine." he scoffed. "Guess I'm too egoistic for my own good. Success screws us up."
"And what if... What if we don't get through this?"
Jimin smiled lightly.
"Then we'll end in style."
Lorraine chuckled, followed by him. It was after a long time they were smiling like this beside each other.
Jimin retreated before standing up and urging his hand towards her to take it.
"Come on up."
"Where?" She asked.
He shrugged. "Just to...ease up a bit."
"Oh no, not doing alcohol, not doing weed, and definitely not doing other drugs right now. Gotta be clean." She said.
Jimin rolled his eyes, grabbing her hand and making her stand up.
"I heard there's a terrace garden in this hotel."

Both of them sat at a swing that was long enough for both of them to fit in with a shade at the top, lightly kicking off the grass. Lorraine stared at Jimin as he rested his elbows on his thighs.
"What happened to that haughty attitude?" She asked, raising an eyebrow.
Jimin chuckled at the back of his throat.
"Faded away as you stopped doing shit. I have a feeling that scar is gonna be forever."
Lorraine shrugged, lightly dabbing the bandage on her wound.
"It's fine, make-up usually hides it. But hey! It was you doing shit, alright. You kissed me in the godforsaken award show, not the other way around!"
Jimin didn't say anything, just stared at her.
"Why did you kiss me when you were so angry?" She asked.
"I told you, you drove me insane. Couldn't help much with my feelings either. Consider it an angry make-out session." He said, wanting to be careless right now.
"It's because of the angry make-out session that we ended up here you douchébag."
Jimin kissed his teeth, ignoring her comeback, just wishing time to pause here. He didn't want to experience what was coming anymore, because their uniting made things a lot easier but the problems had just begun. He looked at her.
"Lorraine, I don't wanna put any pressure than there already is but... We do have to come to a conclusion you know. Because it's not only us, it's the media and our fans and my bandmates..."
She didn't say anything, letting him continue.
"I don't wanna part ways with you... I wanna be with you but I understand if you think otherwise, you've endured a lot because of me. And also our reputation would go even more down than it already is been going if we declare that it's over. But if we declare that we're dating, I don't wanna pretend."
Lorraine leaned back and looked up at the stars as she heard the crickets chirping in the distance.
"This is such a tangled way of asking someone out-"
"Hey!"
She was cut off by Jimin playfully hitting her arm as she laughed loudly at his ridiculousness.
"You're mean. I'm already nerve wrecked and you're just making me embarrassed." He whined.
She giggled softly, causing him to end up doing the same. He stood up after a while, pulling her with him and turning her around by her shoulders, pushing her along with him to walk.
"Come on, let's go and eat something, I'm starving."
"Is that a date?" She teased.
"Yes, it's a date."
The night passed with them having their dinner at the restaurant of the very hotel downstairs, chatting casually and happy for the moment. They had some big mess to clear up but, it was fine.
By the time they reached back to their room, both of them were more than tired. She wasn't sure if Jimin wanted to stay over or go back to his house.
Maybe Jimin was thinking the same as they stared at each other, standing in the middle of her room. Then Jimin just simply smiled, his sleepy eyes disappearing at he pulled Lorraine into a hug.
It wasn't the first time they were sharing a hug, but it felt like the first time they were feeling each other, the warmth coursing through their bodies and bursting their hearts in an overwhelming flood of emotions.
"Lorraine..." Jimin murmured, reaching his hands up to cup her face and leaning down to kiss her cheek softly. "You've started to make me feel so...full."
He grazed her lips across her cheeks before meeting her lips in a short peck. "It's like... you've started stemming my comfort. I have no idea how it happened." He placed more pecks on her lips, before finally deciding to not move and linger his lips over hers.
When he separated, Lorraine was an emotional mess. No one had ever told such things to her, so, so genuinely. Lorraine and comfort were usually north pole and south pole. Usually had been called toxic, manipulative, selfish, freak show. She took pleasure in that. Pleasure in being somewhat...bad. The fact that someone could find something so pure and warm in her was an overwhelming surprise.
Jimin was the kind of person in her life who refused to see the bad in her, even after all the shits she pulled out. He stayed with her when she was sophisticated and cold around him, he got allured by that. And then... He saw good in that.
There wasn't a reason she could pin point over why she started claiming this feeling love, but one of the reasons were that he never tried to change her. He willingly took whatever she had to offer, good or bad. Maybe Jimin was enticed by the darkness in her but then he gradually got tired...and realised the toxicity was hurting him.
Yet, he tried. Even in his raged up state, he was willing to give another shot. Even when he was angrier than ever, he cared enough to come and check up on her at the hospital. Because to be honest...her friends didn't.
Now, Lorraine didn't know wether she was a good person or bad. She thought that Jimin had come into her life to rather balance the good and bad. But she wanted to make up for it. She wanted to make up for whatever or however she had hurt him.
She couldn't help it when she hugged him once again, pressing her cheek on his chest and wrapping her hands around his waist, closing her eyes in bliss when Jimin enveloped her in.
"Should I go?" He asked.
"No, don't."
Jimin chuckled from the back of his throat. Clingy Lorraine was adorable. He would never tell that to her because she'd kill him.
"I really have to go, Raine. We'd meet tomorrow. You can come with me to work and meet the rest of the members. I'm sure they'll like you–"
"Yeah, like hell." She scoffed. "They almost lost their career because of me."
"Hey... I was equally involved in that. You lost your movie too, if I wouldn't have kissed you–"
"No, shut up. I've seen you blame yourself, you don't stop."
Jimin sighed, urging her to look up as her face was buried in his shoulder. Their eyes contacted and Jimin's heart did a bad job in containing itself and not just melting into a puddle of goo right there. It was now that he noticed that Lorraine had those pair of bedroom eyes behind the cold facade, they had a colour of champagne, heck they might even work like champagne.
"All I'm saying is, they'd like you. And no, they don't hate you. In fact, they've been as supportive as they can."
"Okay." She whispered.
He didn't think twice before pressing his lips on her forehead.
"I don't know why you always make yourself the bad guy."
"I like to keep it that way."
"Then I like you that way."
"Don't you want me to change?"
"Even if I wanted you to...I want for you to do it for yourself and not me. Now, I really need to go, okay? I'll see you tomorrow."
"Good night."
"Night."
