Chapter 24

It was nearing night when they got out of the office and reached the elevator, Lorraine got in first and her skin prickled when Jimin entered the lift. She could almost imagine that Jimin's next move would be to pin her against the metal wall, but thankfully, his anger was limited to his eyes glaring holes into her.

They reached back to the car, sitting and driving out. Thankfully, Jimin drove from the back to avoid the reporters.

"Drive to my hotel." She said, opening her phone to track it through GPS.

"You're coming to my home."

Lorraine snapped her neck towards Jimin so quickly her neck ached. She just couldn't believe him.

"I don't know what goes on in your head, Park Jimin, but I'm not living with seven men in a house from which six of them I barely know and one of them is a fucking douchébag."

She could see Jimin's jaw clench, rolling her eyes and looking straight ahead.

The moments passed in silence, she didn't know what the hell was she thinking when she said that they'd talk it out, because clearly none of them wanted to crawl out of their asses and didn't know where the hell to bury their damn ego and just talk.

Halfway through her hotel, she got a call. It was her director's. She picked it up.

"Hello?"

"Where are you?"

"Korea, had some business."

"Dammit Lorraine, I arranged a shoot for tomorrow."

She clenched the phone tighter at that, restraining herself from shouting.

"Well, you should've told me earlier than a day before."

"I called everyone, Lorraine. They were available. Shit, why're you becoming so irresponsible, we decided releasing the movie in two months."

She messaged her temples in frustration.

"We're still on the last seen. We'll figure it out."

"You need to stop growing my blood pressure. And what's with the scandal? You know, we can't afford them before the movie promotions. I'll have to arrange this on the next week. You'll be back by then?"

"Yeah."

"Fine. If you skip, Lorraine. With all due respect, I won't be able to hold the contract anymore. Thanks."

The phone hung up after that, leaving her completely bewildered.

No this isn't happening.

While she was here trying to save Jimin's career and resolve the issue, her own career was fading away like crumbled ashes.

Nothing meant to her more than that. This was her home. And now it was going away because of Jimin.

She was getting increasingly mad, not wanting to hear from the director anymore, with a frustrated goal, she threw the phone out of the window.

Jimin kicked the break so quickly she shot forward, he looked at her, a shocked expression plastered across his face.

"The fuck you did?!"

She looked away from him, ignoring the incredulous look Jimin was giving her. When she didn't respond, he cursed under his breath and got out of the car.

Thankfully, the road was clear and dark so no one spotted him. He came back with a completely shattered phone and kept it in the cabinet.

Jimin wanted to ask what happened, but he already sort of knew, so he didn't push it. Lorraine was rebellious, she didn't get sad, she got frustrated. Even if it would be her fault.

For Jimin, at least. It was her fault.

The tension was thick in the car till they reached the front of the hotel and he halted his drive, not knowing wether to go with her or not.

She picked up her purse, not caring to pick up the broken phone. She opened the car door and got out, eyes contacting with Jimin.

"Thanks for ruining it all, asshole."

That particular snarl was what got to Jimin, looking at her going inside the hotel, entirely perplexed for a moment before it clicked on him that he had to go after her. Wasn't a choice.

He banged his fist on the steering wheel.

"This woman will be the death of me. Lorraine– wait!"

By the time he ran after her, she had already taken her key card from the reception, rolling her eyes with an ugh when she saw him.

"I said, wait."

Jimin seemed to keep on forgetting she wasn't someone who'd be easily dominated, he literally pulled his hair out when she started walking away again.

She pressed the button to call the elevator but then realized that elevator was a bad idea, so she took the stairs, thankful it was only the first floor.

"Wait!"

"Will you stop creating a scene on the stair cases for fucks sake!"

"Yeah if you just stop moving away!"

She kept on walking until she was in front of her room, touching the card over the sensor when Jimin grabbed her wrist.

That was the last straw for her. She was just irritated by him trying to somehow control her. He just didn't get that she was not some random girl who'll get intimidated. The way he had acted the whole time after the scandal took place, even in the hospital, ordering her to come to Korea and then telling her she'll live with him.

She didn't listen to anyone and Jimin wasn't an exception unless he says what he wants nicely.

So she yanked her wrist away from his hold, pushing him slightly to depict that she wasn't allowing him to manhandle her in any way.

"No, Jimin, you don't get to." She warned, getting inside her room, followed by him.

"What did I even do?!"

She scoffed, her eyes rimming with unwanted tears because Jimin had just... done enough. He always knew how to pull onto the right strings. She grabbed her head in bewilderment, couldn't believe that Jimin didn't even know what he did.

"When you leave me at my house while I am having never ending panic attacks, I expect you to stay the hell away! But you kiss me after I'm thinking that maybe you're done with me and confuse the fuck out of me, and get me caught up in a huge scandal right before my movie promotions!"

"You were equally involved in the scandal!"

She inhaled sharply. Jimin initiated it. But she was tired and didn't want to fight to win the arguement to feel some sort of superiority. No. She just wanted to come to a conclusion now. That was all she wanted, answers.

Tears were falling down her eyes but she didn't mind them, her throat stinging by realising what sort of disastrous mess she had fallen into, and what that had made of her.

"Now, Jimin, as much as I can argue on that sentence with you, I just wanna know..." Her voice cracked by the end of it. "Why did you leave me there?!"

"To show you that I'm not someone who's wrapped around the tip of your finger! You shoved me away and I'll not come back as if nothing happened, Lorraine. Treat me right if you want me in your life or you can really fuck off..."

Jimin's words were raw poison to her, making her tears fall increasingly. So he just went away because... she ran away from him.

"Even if I'll have to live with this heaviness in my heart that it has always been you for the rest of my life. You enchant me, Lorraine, but you'll not compel me."

"You scare me, Jimin." She blubbered out between her crying. That was the reason why she had ran away from him so might even just tell him. Because Jimin was stuck up on believing that she was playing a push and pull teenage game with him.

She wasn't trying to use Jimin, she was just simply scared. Scared that... Jimin would turn out to be like the people from her past.

It was Jimin's chance to cry now, his voice ceding from shouting as tears glistened his eyes.

"Did I do something wrong, Lorraine?" He asked weakly. "Did I ever harm you? Because that's what you show to me when you run away like that. Do you know how bad it makes me question myself?"

"No, you're just... You make me feel. And it's scary. And it sounds like a– a shitty problem but I'm really fucked up and that fear takes extremes and leaves me exactly where I am right now."
