Chapter 13
Scandalous.
That's how Lorraine felt right now, sitting behind Jimin on his Harley while he rode the bike through the highway, her hair wooshing by the cold wind as her arms wrapped around his waist.
After that morning when she had the panic attack, her assistant was quick to take her back to LA. Lorraine didn't really remember stuff from the call that took place with her and Jimin so she was surprised when after two days, Jimin had shown up at her house with a helmet and a leather jacket on.
"How'd you get in here?" Lorraine asked once he removed his helmet to ruffle back his blonde hair.
"Your guard is my fan." He grinned.
"Come on." He had said. "Let's sneak out."
"Right now?"
"If I can dare, I'm sure you can too."
That's how she had ended up here, sitting behind him as he drove off the highway, raptured by the bliss of feeling alive.
It was nearing night, perhaps by the time they'd find a destination, the sky would be blanketed by darkness. She didn't really care, she didn't want the ride to end as long as it meant leaning over Jimin's strong back and inhaling in the scent of his leather jacket, his cologne and himself.
An hour later, Jimin parked by a motel. She recognised the roots and knew this was near the Hollywood hills, but they wouldn't go there, at least not today. Its entry board said Honeymoon Inn, which made Jimin grin for some reason.
She got off the bike first, taking off her helmet and ruffling her brown hair which bounced like those on the Pantene commercials.
Jimin couldn't help but admire her casual outfit. She was wearing some ripped jeans and a strapless black blouse, topping it over with a furry coat and combats. She looked gorgeous, badass style gorgeous.
Realising he was just comically staring at her walk towards one of the benches placed outside the motel, he quickly got off the bike and ran towards her, enveloping her into a back hug.
Something in his heart exploded when she laughed wholeheartedly, commenting something about him being clingy in a playful way and turning around in his hold so that their chests were pressed flush together.
If Jimin would say it out loud Lorraine would probably kill him but she looked so cute like this. Not in a vulnerable, crybaby way. But when she laughed joyously and her teeth showed as she pulled him by his wrist to sit on one of the benches.
He couldn't stop laughing the whole time, enraptured by this feeling. He never knew he'd feel freedom by running around in front of a cheap motel near the hills with Lorraine Acker.
They went to a shop nearby to pick up a box of beers and some snacks before collapsing back on the bench they had claimed.
Then along while sharing their experiences in gay sex and bickering when Lorraine said she didn't believe he topped and rolling sideways with laughter on the plastic chair so that her legs dangled on one of the armrests, they finished their bags of unhealthy chips and beers.
Jimin told her that he could catch anything from his mouth, bragging about his concentration so they got up to test that with jellybeans, and Jimin expertly caught them. Then he giggled with his mouth full and Lorraine couldn't get enough.
He ran towards her and lifted her, spinning her around once before pinning her onto one of the street lamps, his strong hands supporting the back of her thigh so she could easily wrap her legs around his waist. He kissed her chastely, a little fleshy and sloppy because they were drunk.
They didn't want to make this moment silent, enjoying the laughter and playfulness more than that, so he let her go, getting some more bears as they talked, laughed so much that they fell onto the ground. Forgetting that they were millionaires and moving around freely, together and stealing kisses. Like normal people.
Lorraine just knew at that time that she wanted this night to last forever. Knew it was impossible, but she wanted this night to repeat over and over again. Knew she'd come back to this memory on her shitty days. Knew the rapture had become a safe headspace.
She felt overwhelmed, clouded by this wonderful feeling of happiness...fun. She was having fun. A new kind of fun. Usually fun for her meant dancing with her cast on the sets, this was different.
She was so, so happy that she didn't feel scared. She didn't panic, just let herself melt into Jimin when he captured her lips and slid down her fury coat, his cold fingertips tracing down her bare skin and leaving tingles.
They stumbled into one of the rooms on the ground floor itself that they had booked randomly tonight and fell back on the bed, making them separate their lips. Jimin started tickling her, holding her in place when she struggled to get out of his grip and dying out of laughter
He left her when she was completely out of breath, letting her calm down before leaning in to give her a sweet kiss.
It was the first time tonight that the silence pressed in between them, a comforting one when both of them just silently smiled at each other, not believing that they were feeling this way.
A few months ago, Lorraine never imagined she'd be running and sneaking around with a BTS member. Those heartthrob Korean boys who were literally aiming for world domination. Even though Jimin sulked a lot about the disadvantages of being an idol, she felt so privileged that Jimin was telling this to her. He said he never told this to anyone, not even his bandmates. He said he had wanted to be a shoulder to their group, not a demotivation.
"Dammit." She whispered, cutting the silence and not being able to control herself after analysing Jimin's face for too long. Unfairly beautiful.
She pulled him into her from his neck to claim his lips again, moaning when he sucked on her bottom lip and bit lightly. The kiss was deep, addicting, perfect, full of want. Jimin's eyebrows furrowed and his heart at relieve.
Lorraine didn't push it when Jimin separated and rested the side of his face against her collarbone. She didn't really need sex tonight, she was more than okay with Jimin just...here.
"Lorraine, can I..." He trailed out, trying to calm his breathing down. "Can I tell you something?"
He had this vulnerability to his voice, and the way he clutched a little tighter at Lorraine's sides didn't go unnoticed either. She furrowed slightly, although he couldn't see because his face was resting on her chest.
He was so happy moments ago and now he was somewhat...sad? Was it because of her? She didn't know, so she asked.
"You don't need to ask that, of course, you can. What happened?"
"No, I just don't want you to regret hearing it. Carry it as a burden..."
"Jimin, you think too much. You can tell me."
He rolled over to beside her on the bed, facing her, faces close enough to tickle each other's lips, but Jimin couldn't quite meet her eyes right now.
"It's just... everyone's going through a hard time. The members, and I can't help but stab more pain into myself by seeing how they're suffering, even if I'm suffering with them."
"What's happening?" Her voice was soft, a little curious but mostly worried.
"Some shit came up. It got to a point that we considered disbanding."
"Are y'all disbanding?!" She couldn't help but be surprised, getting up on her elbows with wide eyes.
"No..." He said with a small pout, pulling at her blouse lightly to make her lay back again as she did. "We just considered it for a while. The album we prepared, it was messy, and...well we started fighting with each other."
Jimin closed his eyes when he felt her hand resting on his waist reassuringly, he inhaled sharply and let himself continue. He didn't know why he was telling this to Lorraine. He just felt connected to her after everything tonight. She made him feel alive and distracted her in a good way.
"It got to me because– how are we supposed to work together as a team then?! If we keep on picking at each other. It was so...so upsetting. It reached the peak, they've never fought like this before. Taehyung told Yoongi Hyung straight on his face that his voice simply didn't fit. It was like the last straw. I scolded Taehyung, they made up. Everyone kept saying I shouldn't put so much thought into it, but how could I not?! I care about them! They're all I've got–"
"Hey..." Lorraine hushed when Jimin's voice started cracking, putting her hand on his cheek and caressing it warmly. "I wouldn't say it's fine, but it's going to be. You guys are a true family, little conflicts happen. You've all worked so hard, I'm sure it's gonna pay off."
"Yoongi Hyung was so angry. The silent angry. It scared the hell out of me. I really thought he was going to leave. I don't know what got into them, they're never like this. They're so supportive, so, so positive."
"Don't worry... I know it sucks and you care about them, and you're scared that one of them is just gonna leave and then everything will shatter away. But I believe you guys are stronger than that, and your bond is stronger than that."
That's when the tear dropped down his eye, without any warning and to his surprise, Lorraine was quicker than him to wipe it away. He flushed at that, looking down embarrassingly when his face started contorting in sadness.
"Don't cry." She whispered, giving him a wide cheer up smile that made him break into a few chuckles.
"Thanks, Lorraine. I had a wonderful night. It was like a much-needed break."
He remembered how keen his members were when he had told them that he was just thinking about going to LA to meet Lorraine. They knew he was having a hard time, they knew he always took other's burden to just weigh himself down. So they were more than supportive for him to meet Lorraine and get his mind off of it. The album was long postponed for that reason. They did have plenty of work to do, just that their plans were this time rather slower.
It had been a hurricane of a year already, and they were just midway.
"I should thank you for that." She answered. "You surprised me at my doorsteps. Thanks for coming when I called."
She noticed when Jimin paused a little, remembering their call. But he didn't ask about it and Lorraine was thankful for that.
"We should head home." She said.
"Can't we go back tomorrow morning? I'm too tired to drive."
"I think people will notice us in the daylight."
"We'll wear our jackets and helmets."
"It'll be so hot in the morning, I won't wear leather."
Jimin just grunted disagreeing, pressing his face against the mattress. Lorraine cooed internally when his cheek squished against the mattress. She chuckled and got up.
"Come on, big baby. I'll ride the bike."
Jimin waved his hand disapprovingly in front of her.
"I don't trust you with driving. Especially when you've had so much beer."
"Shut up, I have a high capacity."
Eventually, Lorraine did ride. And then they reached her home, Jimin's luggage was already shifted to a room which was right beside Lorraine's. Jimin stole one last short kiss from her before going into his room.
