Pope had told them that they'd meet up in town when it was daylight, which only meant they'd be splitting up for the night. Pope ended up going back home and Kiara would be going to her house. That left JJ and Willow to go to her house, knowing that it was a better option than going to his place. JJ hadn't really had much quality time with his father lately and Willow knew he wasn't too thrilled to have her over as much. He felt like his house was a slum compared to hers, even if Amelia Bradshaw hardly kept the house neat. If it wasn't for Willow, the house would be rundown to shit.
Once the two teenagers arrived to the Bradshaw home, the porch light was on. It had been a rare occurrence for Amelia to keep the lights on this late because she'd always make a fuss about the light bill. Willow instantly knew that if the light was on, Amelia might've been passed out and forgotten. The two blondes headed inside before Willow cut the porch light off, pointing down the hall for JJ to head to her room when she looked over to see Amelia dozed off on the couch.
"Go.", She whispered to JJ. "I'll be there in a second."
"Okay.", He nodded before looking over at her mother for a moment, walking off toward her room.
Willow walked over to her mother, grabbing a blanket off the back of the couch to place over Amelia. It had become a habit over the years, even if she was treated like dirt. Willow had a big heart; sometimes too big for her own good. Before she could walk away, she felt her mother grab her wrist gently before saying, "Where've you been?"
"Out.", Willow slowly pulled her wrist gently out of her mother's hold. "With Kiara, Pope, and JJ."
"Is he here?", Her mother asked as she sat up slowly, rubbing her eyes as she let out a yawn.
"Who?", Willow asked.
"JJ.", Her mother looked up at her. "If he's in your room — which, I know he is — keep the door open, okay?"
"Sure thing.", Willow nodded, turning to walk away.
"I mean it.", Amelia added.
"And I got it.", Willow sighed deeply, walking down the hall to her room. Once she stepped inside, she pushed the door slowly as she deciphered how much she'd have it open. She ended up leaving it open three inches.
"Does it feel weird to have her try and parent you after not caring?", He asked in no rude way. Mainly just curious to know what it was like.
"I don't know.", She shrugged, walking over to him where he was already sat on her bed. She sat close to him, leaning her head on his shoulder. "Too much crazy shit is going on for me to focus on whether or not she's genuinely wanting to fix what she broke."
"That's fair.", He responded.
"Do you think we'll actually clear John B's name?", She asked suddenly, raising her head up to look at him. He hadn't known how to answer it, but he had hope at least.
"Eventually, yeah.", He responded, noticing her eyes flicker as she stared into his eyes anxiously.
"How long do you think it'll take?", She asked.
"I don't know, Bee.", He shook his head.
She took a moment to think of what to say, not really knowing what to say after it. She always opened up to him, so it wasn't like there was anything else she needed to tell him that he didn't know already; or at least she thought. There were some memories she pushed into the back of her mind because she wasn't fond of them. She tried desperately to forget them until one little thing would bring it all back. Most of the memories she pushed back were ones where her and JJ didn't get along. Mostly, she hated them more now that they were together — afraid that they'd go back to those days of hatred. She knew it wasn't ever the case.
The longer they sat there in silence, looking off into the distance as if they were struggling to speak — Willow kept thinking of something to talk about. She didn't want to bring anything up that would trigger him, but she also wanted to just talk about whatever. Before she could think of anything, she got a call. She quickly pulled her phone out of her pocket, taking it out to see the caller ID flash across her screen; Kiara.
Her eyebrows furrowed, glancing up at JJ to see him shrug in response. She let out a sigh before declining the call. "Whatever it is... she can tell me about it later."
"Bee...", He gave her a knowing look. "Just call her. She's probably just trying to apologize."
"Later.", She replied.
"No.", He shook his head, pulling out his own phone before calling Kiara. He handed the phone to her as she gave him a look of annoyance. "Now."
"God, when did you get so stern?", She poked out her tongue towards him before hearing Kiara speak from the other side of the call.
"Hello?"
"Hey, Kie.", Willow spoke into the phone, feeling JJ's gaze on her. She pulled her legs up onto the bed to cross them, wanting to sit comfortably if she was going to be talking to her.
"Hey, Lo."
"So... did you need something?", She asked awkwardly, glaring at JJ who had a wide smile on his face. He knew how much she hated awkward moments, but seeing her act awkwardly just made him laugh for whatever reason.
"I figured since you ignored my call, you didn't care to hear what I had to say."
"Phone died.", She lied.
"Yeah, sure it did. Anyways, I uh... I just wanted to say that... I'm sorry."
"Oh?", Willow sat up straight, looking at JJ to see him silently laugh sarcastically in her face. She rolled her eyes before flipping him off, hating the fact he was right.
"I thought about what JJ said earlier..."
"So, you feel bad when JJ says something about it but not when I do?", Willow blurted out.
"No, it's not that... look, we'll talk more tomorrow. This was Pope's idea anyways."
With that being said, Kiara hung up and Willow pulled JJ's phone away from her ear. Her eyes met with his own, noticing his eyes droop before he looked away after taking his phone back from her. Willow sighed softly, watching him stand up. "What?"
"Nothing, Bee.", JJ shook his head as he took off his jacket, hanging it up on the back of her closet door.
"You obviously got something on your mind.", Willow spoke, bringing him to raise his hand to pinch the bridge of his nose. "Just spit it out, JJ."
"It's getting ridiculous.", He blurted out. "You and Kiara are best friends. If this was me and Pope, we'd have already gotten over it."
"It's different for guys.", She shrugged her shoulders, falling back onto her bed as she groaned. "How long are we gonna have this conversation about Kiara? It's been going on for days and I'm ready to move past it."
"Can't move past it unless you talk it out.", JJ answered her, crossing his arms over his chest as he stood in front of her bed eyeing her down.
"Right.", She rolled her eyes, letting out a scoff. "That's rich coming from you."
"What's that supposed to mean?", He uncrossed his arms, staring at her with his eyebrows furrowed.
"You of all people should understand what it's like to-"
"You think now that we're together, you know me well enough to make that assumption?", He quickly cut her off, watching as she sat up on her bed to look at him. "If you're trying to say I avoid conflict, I don't."
"You avoid conflict depending on what it is.", She responded, shaking her head at him. "And I do know you well enough because you and I are practically the same person. That's all anyone ever says. We're together because we know each other extremely well that we find comfort in each other. Or at least that's what I thought."
"Well maybe we're too alike that all we're gonna do is bump heads.", JJ stated.
"That's not true.", She shook her head in response. "This whole time we've agreed on everything."
"No, we haven't.", He sighed deeply, watching her furrow her eyebrows in response. "Bee, there's some things that-"
"What are they?", She quickly asked, cutting him off as she stood. He just averted his gaze to the floor, trying not to make eye contact with her. That was the way he avoided conflict; not making eye contact. She noticed he was trying to avoid her question quickly, which is where they differ. He avoids eye contact during stressful situations, but she doesn't. Willow just freaks out or over exaggerates things. Her eyes always stay focused on someone else's because she's good at telling whether someone is lying, upset, or even angry just by the look they give. "What don't you agree with, Jay?"
"John B.", He finally spoke, still not making eye contact with her as his eyes glanced around the room anxiously. "You getting mad at Kiara and Kiara getting mad at you. I don't agree with either of you, but both of you want me to choose a side. And then when you turned to drugs and alcohol. Willow, the whole month he's been gone you've hardly ever been sober. I understand being upset, but I don't want you to end up like-"
"My mom?", She ended it off for him, watching as his eyes shut harshly. "I get you're worried but comparing me to her is a new low for you."
"Willow.", His eyes opened quickly, making eye contact with her finally to see the betrayal in them. "I'm not saying that you're like her..."
"No? Then what are you saying?", She asked bitterly.
"If you keep going down this road...", He paused for a moment, watching her eyes widen in anger. "I'm afraid you will end up like her. I don't want that for you."
"Get out.", She spoke through gritted teeth.
"Willow, I'm not-"
"Get the fuck out, JJ.", She raised her voice, pointing toward her window. "I would never fucking say that to you! Get out!"
"No.", He responded calmly, staring her down as tears began forming in her eyes.
"When John B said that to you, I-"
"You did nothing. You just stood there and let me take it.", JJ responded quickly, watching her look off to the side. "I'm not saying that you are her. I'm saying that you need to stop and work on the problem before it gets too tough on you."
"How?", She whispered, eyes meeting with his own as a few tears slipped from her eyes. "When I feel like I'm taking a step forward, I get pushed three steps back. I can't work on solving anything when the universe won't allow it."
"Start with talking to Kiara and hearing her out. I know the state you're in right now is making you a bit defensive and closed off, but try to just listen.", He raised his right hand up to her cheek, wiping away the tears with his thumb. "Don't let it bottle up anymore, Bee. And after that, talk to your mom. If you need me there, I will be there... always."
She simply nodded in response, not being able to help herself from remembering all the times he told her that. JJ had been telling her that a lot since the two grew closer and she appreciated it a lot. Although, whenever he'd say it she couldn't help but remember when her father said that to her for the first time. It had obviously been before she knew the truth, but hearing it from him that day really made her happy. Then she remembered that technically, it was a lie; Big John Routledge wasn't there anymore.
꧁꧂
Twelve year old, Willow Bradshaw, walked into the chateau with JJ Maybank. They had just gotten out of school to come see John B, whom had been home due to being sick. The blonde girl insisted they go and check up on him at lunch with Pope and JJ. Pope was going to come with, but his dad needed a hand at the shop. The two blondes decided to still go.
"John B?", Willow called out from the front door, hearing a chair scrape against the hardwood floor from a different room. That was the only sound they heard, which made the two glance at each other.
"Maybe he lied.", JJ shrugged his shoulders, watching as she set her book-bag down in the living room of the chateau.
"John B's not a liar, JJ.", She glanced at him, noticing him raise his eyebrows in amusement before she smiled. "Not like you anyways."
"Oh, haha. When did you become a comedian? I thought you were uptight.", He bit back jokingly.
"I am not uptight.", She laughed before she heard footsteps approaching, bringing her to turn around to see Big John standing there.
"Hi, kiddos.", He spoke as he glanced between the two blondes, giving them both a smile before locking eyes with Willow. "You here for John B?"
"Yessir.", She nodded.
"He's out back.", He nodded to the back. "I let him stay home so we could go on a fishing trip."
"What!?", JJ's mouth fell agape. "Are you having another one?"
"Yes, JJ.", Big John smiled widely at the boy. "I figured I'd spend some time with John B first. If you'd like to join us for the one we're about to go on you can. Just meet him outside."
"Oh, hell yeah.", JJ quickly threw down his bag, quickly turning around to walk out the door before he stopped to look at Willow. She gave him a smile before he looked at Big John. "Can Bee come?"
"Absolutely. Only if she wants to.", Big John looked down at her at the same time she scrunched up her nose, quickly reminding him of John B. There were some features of hers that John B shared that both of them got from him. With that thought running through his head as he knew he still couldn't tell her the truth, he looked away.
With her nose still scrunched up, her eyes met JJ's. "I don't know... being stuck on a boat with you sounds like torture."
"Fine, then don't go.", JJ's mouth curled up into a smile before walking out of the house. She looked taken aback, turning to look at Big John.
"Can I really go?", She asked the older man.
"Yes, Tree.", He responded with a warm smile, watching as she grinned from ear to ear before exiting the home as she shouted JJ's name. When he slipped up and called her 'tree' for the first time, he had to lie to her and tell her he came up with names for John B's best friends. So in return, he would then come up with a name for JJ; Jaybird. He'd hardly ever call JJ that, though.
After awhile, the three twelve year olds were on the HMS Pogue with Big John. Willow was looking out at the water while the two boys were getting their bait ready on the hook. She looked down at her own fishing rod that Big John had gotten for her. The problem was that she had never really fished before, so she wasn't sure what to do. Her mother never fished and claimed it was a useless waste of time. That and for all she knew, her dad never wanted anything to do with her and usually it was always the dad teaching their kid to fish.
"Hey, kiddo.", Big John sat down beside her where she was sat at the nose of the boat. "You okay?"
"Yeah.", She nodded with her eyes still glued to her fishing rod. "I just don't know how to fish."
Her gaze averted over to him, watching as he furrowed his eyebrows before fixing his glasses on his face, clearing his throat in the process. "Did your mama not teach you?"
"No sir.", She shook her head, watching as he dropped his head down and nodded slowly before asking for her rod. She handed it to him and watched as he pulled a worm out of the small container.
"Wanna learn?", He asked her calmly.
"You wanna teach me?", She asked.
"Of course.", He nodded, putting the rod in between his knees to hold it still as he grabbed the hook. "So, first... you need to learn how to bait your hook."
"Okay.", She responded as she watched him closely.
"The trick is to loop the worm three times just to make sure it stays up there. Also to make sure that the fish won't trick you by nibbling it off instead of clamping down on the hook.", He told her as he hooked the worm three times just like he said. "But you gotta be careful when you hook it. Don't wanna catch your finger in it."
"Not like JJ, right?", She joked.
"Exactly.", He nodded with a grin, pulling the rod up before tilting it out to his right since she had been on his left. "Now, you pull it back only a little, right?"
"And flick it?", She asked.
"Yes, you flick it out.", He replied as he did just that, allowing the line to travel through the air before the hook dropped into the water a few feet away. "Luckily, this rod is for beginners. So all you gotta do is keep your thumb on the button and release it when the hook drops into the water. And remember to straighten out the line after it does go into the water. Wanna try?"
"Yeah, I think I got it.", She nodded as he reeled the line back in and handed her the rod. He scooted back to sit on her left since she was right handed and needed to draw the rod back in the right. "Reel it back and flick?"
"Yep."
"Okay.", She nodded before flicking the line out a few feet, smiling happily as she did so. Then she proceeded to straighten the line out a little bit like he told her to. Big John ruffled her hair with a smile plastered on his face.
"Way to go, kiddo.", He watched as she swatted his hand away as she giggled.
"Now what?", She asked once he looked back out at the water.
"You wait to feel a tug.", He simply replied.
Once she felt the tug, she quickly started reeling in as Big John kept calmly instructing her on how to treat the rod during a reel in. With success, she finally pulled the line up as the fish emerged out of the water and she sat up quickly on the boat as she jumped up and down happily. The two boys who hadn't caught a thing yet had turned to look at her. She pulled the line closer to her, staring at the fish. "I did it!"
"Good job, kid.", Big John grabbed her line, going to unhook the fish before asking. "What do you wanna do with it? Keep it or release it?"
"Keep it. We could cook it.", JJ commented.
"It's a croaker.", John B replied to his blonde friend. "Not much meat, JJ."
"So?", JJ stared at John B in confusion.
"I wanna let it go.", Willow responded to Big John, watching as he grabbed the fish off the hook.
"Then we let it go.", He responded before reaching his hand down in the water, all of them watching as it swam away. He looked up to see her eyes light up before he spoke, "Proud of you, kid. Always."
"Thank you.", Willow responded with a faint smile, not knowing how to really feel about someone saying they were proud of her. Quite frankly, she'd only heard that from someone maybe twice and it was both a teacher she had. "You know... I don't get to do things like this a lot. Not having a dad sucks..."
"Well, I'm here for you, kid. And if you need me there, I will be there...", He gave her a slight bit of a smile, regret washing over him. Knowing how hurt she was pained him, but he couldn't bring himself to tell her now out of all the years he could've told her. Not only that, but he knew shit would hit the fan with Amelia. "Always."
꧁꧂
"So, are we gonna do like... rock, paper, scissors?", Kiara asked as they were stood in front of the drain the next day where they had figured out that the gun was still in there. Willow looked over at her, then glanced at the two boys.
"One, two, three... not it? Nose goes? Anything like that?", Willow added to what Kiara had said.
"Even alphabetically?", Kiara spoke again.
"No.", JJ commented, grabbing the crowbar to pry the storm drain open. Willow turned her head to make eye contact with Kiara.
"I say JJ.", She tried to joke with Kiara, noticing a hint of a smile of the girls' lips.
"I say Pope.", Kiara nodded with her. "Or like... both of them?"
"Definitely both.", Willow agreed, laughing as they turned their attention back to the boys to see that they had been watching the two girls in amusement. JJ smiled before clearing his throat, knowing that the two girls weren't going to like what he had to say.
"In the sewer, there's this worm that you get when you're down there. It gets into your blood, and then it has to come out your pecker.", JJ spoke, glancing between the two of them as they stared at him with furrowed eyebrows. "So, uh... that would be a hard pass for me."
"Yeah, it's gonna be a no for me.", Pope added, looking at the girls as well.
"So, uh... because we don't have peckers, that makes us immune?", Willow asked quickly, scoffing before looking at Kiara. "I don't believe this."
"They're just scared.", Kiara commented back to her.
"No, no. I'm not scared.", JJ shook his head.
"Aww, poor babies.", Willow pouted mockingly, watching as JJ gave her a look of annoyance. "It's okay, Jay. We'll go. Your pecker will be safe."
"Very funny.", He vigorously nodded his head, making the blonde girl laugh.
"Should've just led with the fear thing. You don't have to be scared. Willow's right, we'll go.", Kiara walked closer to the drain, bringing Willow to follow her.
"Alright, well... just be careful.", Pope spoke to Kiara before she climbed in.
"I'll be so careful.", Kiara responded mockingly, making Willow bite back a laugh.
"I deserve that.", Pope nodded. Once Kiara had climbed in, Willow looked at JJ.
"Don't worry, the worms won't get you from here.", She grinned from ear to ear, hearing Kiara giggle from inside the tunnel.
"Just be quick.", JJ shook his head, rolling his eyes at her comment. With that being said, Willow climbed in after her. "Just, uh, holler if you need anything, okay Bee? We'll, uh... we'll holler back."
"Very helpful, Jay! Thanks!", Willow shouted, shaking her head with a smile as she thought about how dorky he was. The further they traveled into the drain; they came across water and Willow immediately scrunched her nose up. "That's not really appealing to be standing in murky water that you have no idea what could be in it."
"Thanks for uh... sharing, Lo.", Kiara responded as she stood up in the water, turning to help her out of the tunnel before they both looked up to see a ladder which led to the surface with the manhole cover. They both quickly began searching through the water for the gun, a bunch of trash floating around. "Ugh... people are so shitty."
"The shittiest.", Willow nodded, moving her hands around the bottom to see if she could find it. Suddenly, she thought about what JJ had said last night, and it would be perfect to speak to Kiara now that they were alone. "Uh... Kie?"
"You find it?", She turned her head over her shoulder to look at her.
"No.", She shook her head, noticing Kiara furrow her eyebrows. "I just... I wanted to say that... I forgive you. But also that... I'm sorry, too. I wasn't being a good friend to you either."
"It's cool.", Kiara responded honestly. "We both kind of just... took everything out on each other. I swear, Lo... I don't ever wanna go through that again with you."
"Me neither.", Willow let out a sigh of relief.
"Best friends again?", Kiara smiled.
"Yeah.", Willow nodded, smiling herself as she went back to looking for the gun. "So, uh... Pope?"
"What about him?", Kiara asked before flinching at hair in the water. "Ew."
"You good?", Willow looked at her, noticing she had her arms raised above the water with a disgusted look on her face.
"Dude, I don't even want to begin to think of what all could be in here.", She shook her head at the same time Willow touched something at the bottom that moved. She let out a short scream, making Kiara look at her.
"Something moved. Ew. Ew. Ew!", Willow began freaking out, raising her hands above water to shake them as she cringed. "We gotta hurry up and find this stupid thing. What if that was a rat!?"
"A rat?", Kiara asked quickly.
"Rats can swim, dude!", She responded as a shiver went down her spine at the thought, which made her cringe before sticking out her tongue. "Ew.."
"Wait, I think I found something.", Kiara looked at Willow, turning to look at the tunnel before shouting, "Guys, I think I found something!"
"Wait, you got it?", JJ asked.
"Is it the gun?", Pope asked.
"Oh, god. No, no, no.", Kiara quickly let go of whatever it was, making Willow trudge through the water toward her. "Oh, my god!
"What is it?", Willow asked as she peered over her shoulder, quickly gagging once she realized that it was something dead. "Oh, what the hell..."
"There's something dead in here!", Kiara shouted.
"Like a person?", Pope asked, which made the two girls scream at the thought of it.
"There's something dead!", Kiara shouted again.
"Get me out of here!", Willow shouted along with her.
"Guys, don't touch it that's how you get worms.", JJ shouted through the tunnel.
"Oh, my god!", Willow shouted, freaking out when she felt something bump into her leg. "Something just touched me!"
"What!?", Kiara quickly looked at her.
"Something touched me!", Willow shouted again, moving around in the water to see if she could see through the water but she couldn't.
"Bee! Don't touch anything! I said that's how you get worms!", JJ shouted.
"I didn't touch it, damnit! It touched me!", She shouted back at him louder.
"What is it? Is it Gavin!?", JJ asked.
"Oh, my god.", Willow raised her hands up to her head, looking at Kiara. "It's Gavin. Oh, my god... It's Gavin."
"Guys, do you see the gun?", JJ asked them.
"Not yet!", Willow told him.
"You guys owe us for life!", Kiara was quick to shout.
"Yeah, no kidding.", Willow commented, letting out a breath of air before reaching into the water to see if she could find the gun. "JJ better worship the ground I walk on after this."
"Walk him like a dog, sis.", Kiara joked, which made Willow laugh before they heard the water gurgling behind them. They quickly spun around to see what was going on. "Oh, shit."
"Is the water fucking rising?", Willow asked aloud, but already knew the answer. "You've got to be kidding me! Guys!"
"The water!", Kiara shouted.
"The water is rising!", Willow shouted as well.
"Guys, get out of there now!", Pope shouted through the tunnel, which made both of them look at each other.
"We don't have time!", Kiara shouted.
"JJ!", Willow shouted, nudging Kiara closer to the ladder so that she could go ahead and climb it. "We can't go out the way we came! We're stuck!"
"Bee!"
"Kie!"
Kiara had been at the top of the ladder, allowing room for Willow to join her as she pulled the blonde girl up beside her. Willow stared down at the water while Kiara tried pushing the manhole cover up, but it was too heavy. "Lo, help!"
"Shit.", Willow quickly tried pushing up on the manhole cover, her foot slipping off the ladder which made her grab on tightly before she had the chance to fall. "The ladder is too slippery, Kie! I can't!"
"Guys! Help!", Kiara started banging on the manhole cover.
"JJ!", Willow shouted, shutting her eyes harshly as she rested her forehead against the ladder. "This can't be how we die... this can't be how we die."
"We're coming, Bee!", JJ shouted, bringing her head to perk up as she opened her eyes.
"Jay!", Willow shouted when she heard him.
"JJ! Pope!", Kiara shouted as she heard their voices, poking her fingers up through the holes. In no time, both of the girls saw the two boys kneel down in front of the manhole cover. "Pull it!"
"Pull!", Willow raised one hand, trying to help out as best as she could while having to keep one hand on the ladder. As they tried lifting it, the water rose up to the girls' necks. Willow shouted, "JJ... Pope... Hurry!"
"Hurry! Hurry!", Kiara shouted as well. "Pope. Please, please, please."
"Don't worry, Kie. We're gonna get you two out of there, I promise.", Pope spoke to her calmly.
"JJ, hurry!", Willow looked up at him to see him trying to pry it open with a knife. She watched as it broke, letting out a sob before JJ's eyes met with hers through the holes of the cover.
"Bee, it's okay! It's okay, you're gonna be okay!", JJ spoke quickly, watching her nod as he gripped the cover with his hands as Pope did the same. At the same time, the water rose up to the girls' chins. Both of them looked at each other before taking a deep breath as the water rose over their heads entirely.
Luckily, the water gave the boys enough help to pull it up. Kiara came out first, being pulled out by Pope so that JJ could reach down in time to grab onto Willow. Once he did, he pulled her up swiftly before she gasped for air. The blonde girl clutched onto him tightly as she began coughing, feeling him run his hand over her hair. She looked up at him to see his eyes were watery, quickly placing her forehead against his as she kept taking in deep breaths. "You can't get rid of me that easily."
"Pope get off of me!", Kiara shouted, bringing both blondes to look over at her as she pushed Pope off of her.
"Kie, you good?", JJ asked.
"Never been better.", She commented, hunched over as she struggled to catch her breath.
"Another day, another near-death experience.", Willow joked, feeling JJ brush her wet hair behind her ear.
"This wasn't what we were looking for, right?", Kiara asked, pulling the gun out from behind her where she had it tucked in her pants.
"No effing way!", Willow shouted with a shit-eating grin plastered across her face.
JJ quickly grabbed out his bandana that was in his pocket, wrapping it around the gun as he laughed in excitement. "We're gonna get that son of a bitch."
Willow happily wrapped her arms around Kiara, feeling the girl hold her close with one arm. "I'm so proud of you right now."
"Good job.", Pope spoke to Kiara.
"Yeah.", She nodded, feeling JJ wrap his arms around both girls before Pope did the same. It was a quick group hug before they all pulled away.
"Let's get this to Shoupe.", Pope commented.
