Just the Two of Us

I watch him, how he looks rough. His black hair unruly, in every direction as anyone could tell he hasn't bothered to brush it for days. His clothing is different, no longer just a worn t-shirt or sweats, but rather a pair of combat boots and a flannel. He looks rough. My eyes follow his every movement, watching as he walks up to the door. My parents could smell the rogue scent on him the moment he parked his car on our driveway. Unlike many who would see Flynn and immediately want to harm him, a smile spreads across my face, my fingers gripping the handle of my luggage as my father is outside loading his car.

I watch as Flynn walks to my father outside, offering him a welcome smile as I watch my father not respond how I would expect him to. With the last luggage for the airport in my presence, I let go of it, heading for the mirror as I watch my father not just shake hands with Flynn, but pull him in for one of those 'bro-hugs' where Anton can tell it is one of respect and almost like an acceptance of family. With my mother beside me, I can tell she is also surprised, slightly gasping as I reach for the door handle.

The moment that they stand apart from one another, I run, the door swinging open as his eyes meet my own. I throw myself at him, wrapping my arms around his neck as he swings me around twice. Am I happy? Is it not obvious. As my feet touch he ground, I look to Flynn, what I already want to ask already about to be answered as he parts his lips. "I told her about my decision," he comments, wrapping an arm over my shoulder as I nod, worried about how Luna Willow took it.

"Flynn," my mother calls from the front door as I watch as a neighbor's door opens up. They can smell Flynn's rogue scent and it only means judgement upon my family's name. "Come on in, don't be a stranger, we are just loading a few of Amory's luggages."

Flynn smiles, walking with me to my mother as she stands in the doorway, awaiting us as my father follows. Already it seems as if they are treating him like a son or boyfriend...unlike the rest of the pack could ever as long as he holds the rogue scent.

The second we enter our house, my mother offers Flynn some lunch. As Flynn enters the kitchen, I give my father the last luggage, overhearing how my mother asks how Flynn is doing. Within ten minutes Flynn is following me up the stairs, looking at all the pictures lining the walls, each of me growing up that can cause me to become deeply embarrassed. The moment that I open my bedroom door, Flynn places his lips upon mine, lightly pushing me up against the wall as I run my fingers through his tangled black locks.

"What happened?" I ask, breathless as Flynn pulls away, his lips brushing across my collarbone. "How did you mom respond?"

He takes in a deep breath, pulling away as I expect bad news, only for a soft smile to trace his lips. "She said that she understood. She also told me that she has kicked my father out of the house and will be telling the pack tomorrow night at a pack dinner about their Alpha." I'm shocked. Alpha Cade is out of the house and the pack will be informed about his behavior. "She also says that the pack doors are always open to me."

"I am relieved," I comment, happy that the Luna has taken these massive steps. Taking my fingers from his locks, I let a soft laugh escape my lips. "You may want to take a shower before our plane leaves." Flynn nods, smiling at my remark as he agrees. It seems like he hasn't showered for a few days. Though I will say, the five o-clock shadow upon his face does not just make him look a bit more mature, but also sexy.

Within twenty minutes Flynn stands beside me as we watch my car prepared for the trip to the airport. With my parents just grabbing a few objects from the house, there's a countdown until my departure. But if this were a different story, I would be leaving Flynn behind, waving goodbye as I would know I would not be able to see him for a while. But this is my story.

This is our story.

One where Flynn's car is packed up as well, my mother with his extra set of keys to drive it back to his house once we depart. One where Flynn and I have seats right next to one another for a flight that takes us to the same destination. With my fingers interlaced with his, I rest my head upon his shoulder, looking to the silent street as the sun is still bright.

"You know we are two damn lucky people, right?" I ask, lifting my head from his shoulder as I meet his eyes. "Damn lucky to have found one another in a world where traditional tries to tell us how to love or lives and some people need to be able to pick their own destiny." Flynn smiles softly at me, kissing my forehead. "Damn lucky that we have come this far and a whole future awaits the two of us."

"You know that I have to be the luckiest guy alive right now because I have you, right?" I smile, wrapping my arms around him for a short embrace as my parents walk out. "Ready?" Flynn asks, watching as I nod, the two of us waving bye to my parents as we head for his sleek car. I remember the first time we drove together, how he demanded I move over to the passenger seat because he didn't want me to drive in the state that I was in. I remember how I discovered his taste in music, how I found myself listening to that music just because I was beginning to fall hard for him. It took me too long to notice, but maybe it was good for me to have been blind for so long? Maybe it was good that he had to show me that we could be good together. That we would become great together. He stole my heart as I stole his.

So here I sit, that same song playing, the tow of us singing to the song, Flynn taking his fingers to the beat, me mimicking the classic rock's guitar solo, and the two of us in love.

The closer the airport gets, the more nervous I become. But I should not be. Not completely. Why? Because I have Flynn beside me for the bumpy road ahead as he has me as well. "Amory?" I turn to face Flynn, watching as he takes ahold of one of my hands and places it into his lap. "My mother told me something that I want to pass onto you." I await. He smiles. "She told me she's sad I do not want to be Alpha not just because I would not become Alpha, but because you would not be Luna. She told me that the moment she saw you stand up to my father, she wanted you to be the Luna. Only you." Luna Willow respects me. She trusts me. She not only wants me to be the next Luna, but this shows that she sees Flynn and I as husband and wife, as any Luna and Alpha are. She basically just wished for us to get married as well.

As the airport is before us, we get ready. With luggage out, I help Flynn unload his massive luggages for the next year ahead. Just as he shuts the trunk, my mother pulls me in for a long hug. "My baby Amory," she softly cries, holding me close as I feel the tears coming from me as well. "You've grown up so fast and I am so sad to see you go." I hold her close as I thank her for all she has done. I watch as my father walks up to Flynn, telling him to always be there for me. To always be beside me in my ups and downs.

As my mother pulls back and my father pulls me in for a big hug, the water works begin, both tears of sadness and happiness as I know the next chapter of my life will be only bright. Bright because of the boy beside me.

Within ten minutes I watch as my parents drive off, Flynn pulling me in for a hug as I let out a shaky sob, sad to see them go as I won't see them till Thanksgiving Break. As Flynn and I head in for baggage check and our tickets, we turn around, hearing our names called out as I watch her blond hair fly in the wind. I've never seen her run, never even imagined in those lavender heels that she wears. "Flynn! Amory!" I watch as Luna Willow runs to us, a few cars honking at her as she simply just ignores them. "Don't you two leave without me saying my goodbye!"

Flynn lets go of my hand, running to his mother as he pulls her in for a big embrace. "Don't you dare forget your mother," Luna Willow cries, lightly laughing as she issues her son's cheek. "And Amory." I look to meet her eyes, watching as she motions for me to come forward. Making my way to the Luna as the workers take our luggage to be loaded, I find myself in the embrace of the Luna, her tears wetting my cheek as she holds me close. "Don't you dare hurt my son," she whispers into my ear playfully. "Because I want to see my grandchildren have your features." I smile at her remark, my heart warm as Flynn informs us that our plane leaves soon.

Luna Willow lets go, telling me to be careful as she goes back to her son. "I love you, sweetie, don't get that because you will always have your childhood room awaiting you."

As the Luna waves goodbye to us, we head beyond the security checkpoint, hand in hand for our gate as our plane will soon leave. Once we take our seats, I let out a deep breath, smiling as Flynn rests his head on my shoulder. "You know we have another four years before us," he starts off, the two of us waiting for the plane to be ready to load. "Four years for countless things to happen, and maybe even more years after that." My checks become tinted with pink. "What shall we do first to tell our children about?"

My heart skips a beat and a ghost smile crosses my face. Children. Could I have children with Flynn? There's no doubt about it. About my love for him. About how I would love to start a family with him and raise children under our own house's roof.

As our plane is called to be loaded, we rise, ready for our next adventure together. With the two of us excited for the next four years, we know that it holds only good memories as we have each other. Just the two of us.

Just the two of us is all that we need.
