All About L.V. Lloyd

This Australian writer has been a Wattpad constant for years now, especially in the sci-fi community. Read on to find out elveloy's favorite writer, writing motivations, and sci-fi definitions. Did we mention---cats?

1. Give us a peek into your life.

I spend most mornings on my laptop—writing, and responding to wattpad, facebook etc and obsessively checking my amazon stats. When I'm not glued to the laptop, I love going out on the boat fishing, or travelling. I live in Australia, with my partner, daughter and two cats. The cats rule.

2. Who's your favorite sci-fi writer and why?

So hard to choose! I had a good grounding in the classics when I was growing up – Bradbury, Asimov, Heinlein etc. Then I discovered writers with a bit more romance, Anne McCaffrey, MZ Bradley and Lois McMasters Bujold. At the moment my favourite would be... hmm...

3. Some critics believe the speculative genres, particularly sci-fi, are the best forms of literature for exploring diverse themes. Do you agree, and is that why you write LGBT sci-fi?

Yes, and yes again. Sci-fi gives the writer so many wonderful opportunities to use your imagination and "what if?" scenarios.

4. Okay, let's have some fun now...If you were a box of cereal, what would you be and why?

A box of muesli – appears to be full of fibre but contains sweet bits and nutty moments.

5. How honest are you?

Haha! Depends what the question is 

6. What's been your best and worst experiences on Wattpad?

Best: - The first day I joined back in 2011. I received a 'welcome to wattpad' note from an Ambassador and my book had six reads in the first hour. Those were the days—when wattpad was smaller and much more personal. Since then, I have to say having Gothic Romance Featured has been a real highlight. So many reads, votes and comments to respond to!

Worst: - I got some hate PMs once from someone who was quickly removed from wattpad. Actually, when you think about it, only once is pretty good going for such a diverse site. I do find, now that wattpad is so big, that it can be very hard to get reads on a new story. Before I was Featured, I felt a bit like I was shouting into a vacuum—although I supposedly have over 9K followers, very few actually ever interact, which is a bit sad.

7. Spill the beans on a nifty writing tip concerning time-management.

Make a list and prioritise. What do you need to do? and when? Deadlines? Then tick them off as you go. Start with the hardest.

There ya have it, readers. Interact with the writers! They need love, too. And feedback. Mounds of feedback.

Check out Night Traveller, an LGBT sci-fi romance adventure of manly proportions ;-D
