It's Sunday. You know what that means? Nope, nor do I. Days run into each other in here with the devastation of an American Football player going for goal. Every so often, they are smashed to the floor and you tread carefully, picking up the shards to piece together a few hours of normality. Speaking of normality, here's my latest visitor. Not that she's anything close to 'normal,' so I don't really know where the connection is, but you know how I waffle on, hoping to make sense. Speaking of sense... yeah... moving on...

What's your name?

I am Janice Gayle Horton. I prefer to be called Gayle, though. I am fourteen, I love to read, write, listen to music, and hang out with my friends. I also love animals, and little kids.

I wonder if you can't actually decide what your name is so you threw them up in the air and caught the first one you could grab? Oh, don't get the animals and little kids mixed up. Rabbits don't really get on with Peppa Pig and little kids don't usually east out of bowls. It can be confusing sometimes. Where are you from?

I am from Lockhart, Texas. A little town outside of Austin. I love it there - everything but the hundred degree weather.

A hundred degrees? Blimey! Oh, hold on, that's in that funny units you use over there. What's that in real money? Subtract 32... Half it... Erm... Carry the 1... Take away the number you first thought of... 37.8 degrees C. Yup, that's 'ot. So, do you like living there? If not, where would your favourite place to live be? Is yes, where would you least like to live?

I would not want to live in central or South America. Way too close to the equator!

You probably feel like you're there already! As you're a writer, is this your 'day job'?

Writing is not my day job. It is a hobby. My job right now is being a freshman in high school!

Well, it's good to have a hobby. My hobby is trying to discern the flavour from the slop they serve us. It keeps me entertained. Tell me about your latest project.

My latest project is Baby Bump, the story I entered in the Wattys. It is about a woman who finds her fiancé cheating on her, so she moves in with her crazy cousin in New York. While she is in New York she meets her baby daddy and gets pregnant. After that you are just along for their crazy ride through pregnancy and trying to figure the whole future parent thing out.

Being a parent is definitely a crazy ride! More importantly, how do you feel about bacon? A crazy person once said it was the food of the gods. OK, I admit that person was myself...

Frankly, I LOVE bacon! I especially like it when it comes from my families pigs that we raise on our ranch!

You breed your own bacon? OH EM GEE! Is there anything better? It's like having a bacon tree in your back garden! What is your favourite film?

Favorite film...I like a ton of films! Currently, my favorite is Finding Dory.

I've yet to see that. It takes a while for movies to swim into here, but I LOVE Finding Nemo! Dory is one of my absolute favourite (you dropped a 'u' there) character creations. Have you always wanted to be a writer, or is it something you found yourself doing one day?

I realized I had a knack for fictional stories in the seventh grade. We were told to write a story on the painting 'Starry Night' by Vincent Van Gough. And I read it to my family at the dinner table and they all really liked it and told me I had a gift. I had also a week before written a horror story as well and kids on the bus loved it too. Soon my best friend convinced me to get a Wattpad account. That is how I got to where I am now.

Excellent! And it's so great to have you on board! Do you have so many ideas they dribble out of your nose if you don't get them down, or do you have to hunt around the floor and the back of your sofa to find where your Muse is hiding?

Most of my ideas come when I am reading or sleeping. So I have to keep a google doc open when I'm reading on Wattpad and a note pad close by when I sleep or reading a normal book.

That's a good idea. Shaun keeps meaning to but then doesn't so forgets the ideas! I worry for my own existence sometimes! If you were in an asylum, what would your particular delusion or psychosis be?

I would be in an asylum, because I am super delusional. I like to live in a little fantasized world to protect me from the horrors of the real world.

The real world can be so horrific, but then so can fiction. Be careful where you tread. But, at least you can have unicorns. I want a unicorn. What genre(s) do you write?

I write Chicklit, working on a romance and fanfiction. I want to try historical fiction some time as well.

Nice. What genres(s) do you read?

I read so many books,I can't keep track of all the genres! Right now, I'm really into dystopian stories.

Cool. I feel like I live in a dystopian world in here. Nothing is quite as it should be. You'll be right at home. If these are the same, what attracts you to them? If they're different, why do you think that is?

I don't write dystopian stories, because I believe there are too many out there nowadays and I may or may not have any good ideas for that genre that has not already been told/written.

At least you want to stay original. That's a good sign! But more importantly, again, bacon – just cooked or crispy?

I like my bacon fried, with a little bit of fat on it. I like the way the fat tastes. Don't judge!

No I would be too stuck up in the world in my head to even think about getting out.
