Interviewing: diti

What is your name?

i'm diti y'all :))

Examples of your work:

Why did you join wattpad?

i joined Wattpad because i was looking for books to read, like any other person. i'm a book addict, and am always looking for stuff to read. a meal is incomplete without a book hahaha. i think it's safe to say that Wattpad didn't disappoint me :')

How long have you been making graphics for?

i've switched accounts thrice i think. if you include all accounts, then 2+ years.

How did you get into graphic designing?

well, when i started reading stuff, the authors started mentioning the designers of their covers. so obviously curiosity got the best of me and i checked them out. i looked at a designer's book, but only around 3 chapters. and i decided this is what i want to do.

i started with weird phone apps i don't even remember now lol, but i started using Pixlr mobile, then gradually moved on to PicsArt, and Phonto for the text. at that point, i had no idea about Wattpad cover size and used to struggle so much with the text placement. i then got the pirated version of superimpose (but i never really got the hang of it, i'm telling you this), but then i realized that there was something called Photoshop. i had like a 7-8 year old laptop, and i started using Pixlr online. lets just say it wasn't really the best experience. i'm going to admit, photoshop seemed pretty far away back then.

well, nothing much happened since then, i got better, showed it to my parents, and that is the reason why i have my own laptop now haha.

What type of graphics do you make, and which do you prefer?

i make al types of graphics, but manps are something i really need to stretch with. simple and minimalistic covers come naturally to me, and that is my preference.

What is your favourite part of graphic making?

im going to be really frank here, i'd love to say that i love when people like my graphics, even though that's true (i really do love seeing people happy), but i have OCD.

and my OCD gets satisfied while playing around with PSDs. once i've decide on a PSD or a number of them, i take a minute to hide and unhide the PSDs again and again. i know, i have issues lol.

How long does it usually take you to make a graphic?

on an average basis, if i have enough inspiration, if takes me 5 mins to an hour for a simple/minimalistic cover. if i'm not sure about a cover, it takes me about 3-4 hours. in this case, i don't finish the cover in a single sitting. all other graphics, like gif edits and picspams take me from half and hour to an hour.

What program(s) do you use for making your graphics?

i use Photoshop CS6 :)

Where do you get your inspiration from/who inspires you?

my Wattpad inspirations include supernovassflashingallen and nightgate. basically looking at graphics designers post in their books are

major, MAJOR inspirations are graphics i see on Pinterest. looking at models, and thinking about what i can do with it gives me the boost to make a graphic.

Do you have any tips for aspiring graphic designers?

watch YouTube vids. there are multiple videos under 'wattpad speed covers'. this will help you so much to understand how a graphic is made. also be original, because originality is the key to be a successful graphic designer. i highly recommend Pinterest and DeviantArt for resources.

thank you so much for reading y'all!

diti xx
