What is your name?

My name is Jake Patterson a.k.a jakepatt

Why did you join wattpad?

I joined Wattpad because I wanted to show off my stories - I thought they were great...so wrong.

How long have you been making graphics for?

For about 6 or 7 months, but I never took it very seriously until a month or two ago.

How did you get into graphic designing? 

Similar to my stories, I used to think that I was brilliant at making graphics and it took me about an hour to make something like this:

Admire that font and the pixelation.

After I realised how bad I was, I was like - hell no, I'm awesomesauce!

So I decided to get off my butt and start learning how to make non-sucky covers. :)

What type of graphics do you make, and which do you prefer?

I make covers, banners, GIF banners, icons, a bit of headers and movie posters, however my favourite our covers and GIF banners because they're just so cool and fun, also they make you look skilled!

What is your favourite part of graphic making?

I love it when I spend hours thinking up of ideas, and I'm able to come up with something, and then I create it exactly like I want. That is the best feeling in the world.

How long does it usually take you to make a graphic?

Honestly about fifteen to thirty minutes, as most of my requests are simple, but vectors take around an hour to make as do manips.

What program(s) do you use for making your graphics?

Photoshop CC.

Where do you get your inspiration from/who inspires you?

I get a lot of inspiration from movie posters and trailers - honestly they're so good! But the person who inspires me the most would probably be LotteHolder because her graphics are gorgeous and she's so supportive!

Do you have any tips for aspiring graphic designers?

Never ever give up, and remember to ask people for help! Now I'm a bit of a hypocrite for this one, and I cheat by using Cover Tips books, but if I had asked some people for help...well by now I would be turning out pretty good graphics! Also don't be afraid to try new styles! You never know what you'll be best at!
