Why did you join wattpad?

All the books I've been wanting to read in real life were expensive and I'm poor as hell and I needed to restock on my romance books, so I typed "free romance books" on my too-old-ipod 4 and found this snazzy website called "Wattpad". One thing leads to another, and I find the MDC. Before you know it, I become a slave to the people of the great Wattpad.How long have you been making graphics for?About a year I would say? I started around April 2015, but only used basic websites like PicMonkey. I started using Photoshop around October 2015.How did you get into graphic designing?I was scrolling through the 'Hot' section in Teen Fiction and noticed that a lot of books had these amazing covers. At that moment I thought "Wow. I would love to know how to do that!". I started going through youtube and discovered the MDC by checking out the Clubs Section. I already had Photoshop installed on my laptop because my parents use it a lot, so when I discovered a Teaching Thread, I knew this was my chance to actually learn something.This was my first ever cover (just let me cry plz):

What type of graphics do you make, and which do you prefer?Nowadays, I just make all types of covers and maybe a banner or two. But back in the day, I used to do icons, book jackets, headers, banners, picspams, outfits, wallpapers, collages, etc etc. But I just got too lazy lmao. But, personally, I love to make covers more than I like to make other graphics. It's simple, has a small space to work with, you don't need as much resources as you need to make, for example, a banner, and I love the wide variety of types of covers you can make- from slapping a vexel to a 512x800 page and adding text to making a full-out photo manipulation from a number of stock photos.What is your favourite part of graphic making?Holy shmoly, that's hard since I love making a cover from start to finish! But I would say both collecting resources and seeing all the great work people have made and just admiring what you have done with your hands, back when you thought you were talented at nothing.How long does it usually take you to make a graphic?A manip usually takes 1-3 hours, depends if I have inspo or not.A simple cover takes 40 minutes, maximum.A minimal cover takes either 30 minutes if I got the photo from the internet, or an 1 hour if I make the vexel myself.What program(s) do you use for making your graphics?I use the great 8/8 program Photoshop CS6. I used to use pixlr a lot too, which is pretty good too.Where do you get your inspiration from/who inspires you?Oooo, a ton of people inspire me, but @LotteHolder @outlandish- @Deadrot @Seventhstar @soundthealarm and @narwhelly are the ones I can name from the top of my head. c;Do you have any tips for aspiring graphic designers?1. No matter how harsh a critique can be, always take it to heart. Whenever you make your next graphic, think about it. Analyze what he/she said. Never ignore or call out someone for trying to help you.2. Never give up. This may seem cheesy, but it's true. You so my first cover. It was absolute shit. But look at me now (trying not to sound cocky gets harder everyday lmao). I'm not the greatest, but I'm much better (I think). It's okay to take a little break. Things get tiring sometimes. But never let go. You'll get better, I promise.3. Regarding actual cover advice, never choose more than 3 fonts. It would get cluttered and not look very nice. And for author names, I would suggest to choose basic fonts/not handwritten or cursive. It looks neater imo.4. Choose high-quality resources from websites like deviantart.5. If you're low on inspo, search up "wattpad speed covers" and boom. (Don't get as obsessed as me haha.)6. Don't have a lot of shizam going on in your graphics, remember, less is more.7. Some deviantart users who make gr8 resources: exoticpngs, assjay, abbysidian, theedgeofdemi, melyrae, tuschen, etc.
