Admin Interview #5
Admin five Octopus_Uprising
Firstly, tell us a little bit about yourself. (Name, place, age, likes, dislikes, personality, etc)
Hello, there! I am Miranda, but you can just call me Mira. I am 21 years old and I live in Sparks, Nevada. It's Nev-aaaaa-duh! Not Nev-awww-da!
Government Conspiracy Theorist, though I am not too far off the deep end!
I am aspiring to become a published author. Writing is my passion and when I am not at work, you can usually find me glued to my laptop screen. (Or my phone).
I am a perfect mix of introvert and extrovert, I am a philosophical thinker, I have an overactive imagination that knows no bounds, and I like helping people.
The wall above my desk is covered in drawings, sketches, scene lists and pictures; I call it my Author Wall.
My favorite things in the whole world are writing, reading, crafting, and antiquing. I also love music, art, history, movies and TV, taking long walks in the rain and conversing with others about ideas and novel plots!
I am a Christian and I owe everything in my life to God.
I dislike tomatoes, dirty bathrooms, and bullies. Oh, and math...cannot forget that one!
When and why did you join Wattpad?
I joined Wattpad on March 24th, 2015. I stumbled across the website through Pinterest, my other addiction, and instantly fell in love with the books on here, and the fact that I could write my own novels as well.
Why did you start this account?
I follow all of the other authors and saw all of their info about it. Sciquests looked like a ton of fun and I wanted to be a part of it!
What is your favourite book that you have written and why?
Honestly, my favorite book that I have ever written is Under Control. I have not posted it here on Wattpad yet, though I am contemplating it. It is because of Under Control that I ever fell in love with writing in the first place.
I used to hate writing, until I had...we'll call it an epiphany for lack of a better word.
On November 6th, 2012, I had a dream. (Too cliché?)
After the results of the election I started to become worried about the direction that our country was headed in. I didn't know how to release all of my feelings towards the state of our government, so I decided that I was going to write a dystopian novel. It was the very first work that I ever wanted to write and it is my baby. I love all of my works but Under Control will always be my favorite.
If you were going to give advice to aspiring authors, what would you tell them?
Don't spend all of your time reading other people's blogs. That is how they write, not how you write. Everyone's writing style is different. Don't study other authors too much, or you will oppress your own writing style, and your books will come out as a mangled up mess of other people's writing personalities. (Trust me, I know from experience)
What is your favourite genre?
That's a tough question. My favorite genre is definitely Science Fiction (because dystopia falls under that category, usually) but Fantasy is a close second.
If you could pick one book, either on Wattpad or published, that you had to read over and over again, what would you pick?
The Lab by Jack Heath. I found it at my local library a few years back and decided to try it. Within the first three pages, the author had me hooked. Jack Heath has this amazing ability to make fifty pages feel like ten, and it keeps the book fast-paced. I could not put The Lab down and I still can't. Best book I have ever read.
Who are your favourite authors here on Wattpad?
I have quite a few:
Dragon_Dame
RazedFromPerdition
AlexBountarie
The-Scrivener (viewer discretion is advised)
escaperealityxx
JauntyJanan14

And more!
Who are your favourite authors not on Wattpad?
Jack Heath, Suzanne Young, Angie Frazier, Suzanne Collins, Ian Beck, James Dashner, Rick Riordan, Scott Westerfield, Sir ArthurConan Doyle, Jane Austen, Victor Hugo, Jules Verne, C.S. Lewis, and Jeff Hirsch. There are probably more, but that's all for now!
