1) "Name?"

I started on Wattpad under the pen name of “Xenia” because I thought it would be sort of pretentious to use my real name for the main character in my story. Too many people found out after I told 2 people, so what the hell. My name is Nikki.

3)" What are your hobbies?"

I’m quite crafty. I love to crochet and diamond paint in my spare time. I also love video games. I’m an all around NERD.

4) "When did you start writing and why?"

I’m not one of those folks who has always had a passion in writing, however, I’ve always enjoyed reading fan fiction. I’d start creating scenarios in my head and having the urge to write my own. The Wish You Were Here series by @RubySlippers_ inspired me to create an account on Wattpad and post my own story.

5) "Which was your first story generally?"

The Sound of Silence is the first story I have ever written and completed outside of grade school. I won’t count writing assignments.

6) "Do you write in some other website except Wattpad?"

No , I do not.

7) "What has given you motive to keep on writing?"

My readers and fellow authors. I’m sensitive and discouraged easily; it’s a major flaw of mine. I’m rarely inspired to keep pushing on when people hurt me just because they can.

8 )"Have you ever wanted to give up everything? (writing I mean)"

Following up with my previous answer, DEFINITELY. I only write as a hobby. It’s something I enjoy and more often than not in recent months it has started to feel like another job for me to update. I think an unnecessary pressure can be put on us authors. We are providing free novels for people to read in our spare time. Most of us have jobs and school. It’s quite admirable and I wish more people appreciated that. I’ve learned that it’s okay to take longer breaks, because I deserve to.

9) "Which is your favorite story on Wattpad?"

I have quite a few favorites:

10) "Have you gained any friendship from Wattpad? If yes, which are your Wattpad friends?"

I have a lovely comradery with @MarylandMansion, @MariluStyles @Reviewsbylou, @Heskindaharry, @Stylesreads, @Harryslovehandles_, & @Fatbottomedgirls. I’m also in a group chat that includes a few I listed before along with @lovealwaysvictoria, @lipsthatlied, and @ellen_eml!

11) "Do you relate with any of your characters from your books? If yes, which one and which characteristics are similar?"

I relate to Nikki (surprise, surprise haha) in The Sound of Silence, but we are definitely not the same person by any means. I didn’t necessarily base her off of me even though we share the same name. We both struggle with mental health disorders—she has Bipolar Disorder and I have Borderline Personality Disorder. We also have a similar sense of humor.

12) "What did you study /are you studying/do you want to study?"

I have a B.A. in Digital Media from the University of Central Florida. I specialized in digital interactive systems. Of course, I don’t use my degree at all since I now work in hospitality management. Haha

13)" Describe yourself in 3 words."

Hardworking, funny, and creative.

14) "What do you advise new writers?"

Never base the quality of your writing on how many people have read, voted, and commented on your story. Do what feels right. Write the story how you’ve envisioned it because that’s how it was meant to be written, my friend.

15)" Questions based on ' The Sound of Silence' :  How were you inspired to write this story?"

I was in a dark place at the end of 2017. Listening to Harry’s music, watching videos, and reading fanfic kept me company. My inspiration comes from a very personal place, which is why I named the character after myself. It helps me keep the emotions and issues that I touch on as realistic as possible. The simple thing is that I wanted to find my person in the world, so I poured my heart out and out came The Sound of Silence.

16)" Who's your favourite character in the book and why? "

Harry. He’s such a joy to write and a lot less complicated than Nikki. My favorite side character is Adele. She’s hilarious and such a loyal friend.

17)"If you were asked to publish your book , would you do it?"

No.

18)"Which is your favourite a)  funny,  b) dramatic,  c) romantic, d) sad scene in the book ?"

a) Funny – There are many goofy moments, but when Mitch got introduced into the story he instantly became a fan favorite. Every moment with him is hilarious. haha

b) Dramatic – The fight that makes Nikki storm out and go to Adele’s house.

c) Romantic – It’s a simple scene that many might not remember, but the first moment they speak to each other and admit their feelings.

d) Sad Scene – By far, the very last chapter of the book. It killed me to write it, but it’s also the chapter I’m most proud of.

19) " A phrase or a scene that you write and you'll never forget.(and why)"

“Eternal Bravery” are two simple words that Harry tells Nikki when she’s going through a hard time or feels week. They’re first words he ever said to her and to this day it makes my heart flutter.

20) " How much time did it take to plan the whole plot? "

I had everything outlined in a few days. I’ve added and changed parts of the story over time as it has evolved since the first draft.

21)" How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?"

I have one unpublished book that is half done called No One. It’s a paranormal piece that I’m very proud of. Other than that, I have many half written One Shots that I need to complete.

22) " What struggles do you find as a writer in our days? How do you deal with them?"

Mainly keeping myself motivated or getting over writer’s block has been such a struggle! I deal with it by taking breaks or reading other stories that inspire me and spark the words into my brain.

23) " If you could change just on thing in your story that could change by itself the whole storyline what would it be?"

Honestly, I wouldn’t change anything.

24) "Any spoilers for future plans?"

Well, most people already know that The Sound of Silence will be a trilogy, but I’m planning on writing a sort of companion book (or prequel) for the series revolving around Nikki’s life before her and Harry’s story began.

CRITICAL QUESTIONS

1) " If you were held at gun point and told that if you didn’t impress them with your dance moves you would be killed, what dance moves would you bust out?"

The moonwalk and the ‘Peanut Butter Jelly Time’ dance, ending with the Kiwi pose. Boom. Rat. Tat.

2) " What is , after all, the true meaning of the phrase 'sound of silence' ? I want you to bring out  the philosopher in you!"

We can all communicate without words through the universal language of emotions and actions. I also believe that the phrase is more reflective within...having a conversation with oneself. Often we also hear the saying, “You can hear it in the silence.” It’s understanding that words are not always needed to express how we are feeling. Our eyes are the windows to our souls after all.
