@peanutboyfriend
1) "Name?"
Hello! You can call me Birdie!
2) "Age?"
I’m 33.
3)" What are your hobbies?"
Cooking, baking, dancing, exercise, true crime, film, music, thrifting, flea markets, farmer’s markets, reading and writing. I have a collection of vintage cameras and used to take a lot of photographs, but I haven’t done that in a few years.
4) "When did you start writing and why?"
I’ve journaled on and off since middle school. I wrote a ton of psychological research in college. I started writing creatively about two and a half years ago. At the time, I thought it was because something intangible was compelling me to do so, but now I understand that I need the emotional outlet and imaginative escape. It works wonders for managing my anxiety, but in all honesty, when things aren’t going well, sometimes it’s a major player in triggering my anxiety too.
5) "Which was your first story generally?"
I started writing little blips and blurbs that I posted as captions on Instagram and some of my followers urged me to keep going, so… here I am. I posted most of the short stories from Instagram in Harry Tales, which is why the formatting is trash, but I can’t find the time to edit.
6) "Do you write in some other website except Wattpad?"
Nope.
7) "What has given you motive to keep on writing?"
That indescribable urge, my editor, my designer and my readers.
8 )"Have you ever wanted to give up everything? (writing I mean)"
Every single day.
9) "Which is your favorite story on Wattpad?"
No Fury by sparkflarefire
10) "Have you gained any friendship from Wattpad? If yes, which are your Wattpad friends?"
Yes! Lots. I can’t even begin to list them all.
11) "Do you relate with any of your characters from your books? If yes, which one and which characteristics are similar?"
Yes, of course. They all came from my brain, so I find myself relating to all of them in some way. I relate to Cherry’s (from Aerial) perfectionism and self-disparagement, I relate to Harry’s (from Aerial) emotional burial techniques. I relate a lot to Ace’s (from Inclination) fluidity and understanding of human nature. At times, I relate to Harry’s (from Kismet) depression and solitude and other times, I relate to Nova’s (from Kismet) optimism and persistence. Pick a day and my answers will probably change.
12) "What did you study /are you studying/do you want to study?"
In college, I studied Psychology with a focus on Abnormal Psych (brain disorders), Brain Development and Child Development. After college, I moved across the country to get a degree in pedagogy from Association Montessori Internationale to teach Montessori principles to primary children, aged 2.5 – 6 years.
13)" Describe yourself in 3 words."
I had to ask my editor because I’m bad at stripping down and boxing myself up. She said: “intelligent, courageous, creative. But it’s just the tip, B.” You see why I keep her around?
14) "What do you advise new writers?"
Write like no one will read it. Write like everyone will read it.
15)" Questions based on ' Aerial ' : How were you inspired to write this story?"
chanmapan messaged me about a year and a half ago and suggested the idea of Harry being an acrobat of sorts in need of a new partner. I was in the midst of planning and brainstorming Kismet, so I couldn’t quite wrap my head around it at the time that she mentioned it. But she said, “PLEASE WRITE AN ACROBAT THING AFTER YOU HAVE FINISHED WHAT YOU ALREADY PLANNED.” I sat on it and a couple months later, I went to a circus performance with my mother and one of the silk aerialists fell about twelve feet from the air mid-performance and they had to stop the show entirely. When everyone was sadly and anxiously filing out of the theatre, ambulances were roaring up with their sirens blaring, and I couldn’t believe what I was experiencing. It was like a nudge from the universe to write this story. As soon as I was finished with Kismet, I switched my focus to Aerial and I’m so glad I did. Thank you for planting the seed, Anna!
16)" Who's your favourite character in the book and why? "
Harry! Oh my god, Harry. He’s maybe my favorite character that I’ve ever written. He’s so spontaneous and layered, crass and loving, smart and stupid. He’s such a joy and so entertaining. I love him so much. Sunbaby forever.
17)" Have you decided the end of the book? "
Of course! I’ve had the ending planned from the beginning.
18)"If you were asked to publish your book , would you do it?"
Of course!
19)"Which is your favourite a) funny, b) dramatic, c) romantic, d) sad scene in the book, until now?”
Funny: I think when they broke into the Malibu mansion swimming pool or the moment everyone realizes his memory has been wiped out and she switches from being Clyde to Cherry. Or maybe when he was jumping on her squeaky bed with a bloody nose and moaning.
Dramatic: the reveal of his partner’s demise, the subsequent surfing accident. Breaking Riff’s car window with his skateboard.
Romantic: so far? Probably Cherry’s first orgasm. Although I really liked them dancing together at Chubby’s as well.
Sad Scene: Cherry visiting Harry in the hospital and begging for another chance.
20) " A phrase or a scene that you write and you'll never forget.(and why)"
The ones that keep coming up for me in Aerial are: the Riff date and Chubby’s. I think because they’re so dynamic, active, action-based and a very clear vision in my mind.
21) " How much time did it take to plan the whole plot? Are we near the end?"
It took over a year to plan the whole plot. We are probably 2/3 of the way through the book. There are about ten chapters left. It’s hard for me to give an exact number, because a lot of the time I end up expanding on scenes and making things a bit longer, but we’ll see. We’re past the middle and nearing the end.
22)" How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?"
I have one book that I’ve unpublished and a couple other story ideas on the horizon, but they’re only outlined for now. I haven’t started any and not finished them. I don’t like the idea of publishing something and getting everyone’s hopes up, then pulling the rug out from under them. I like to be certain about things before people see them.
23) "Any spoilers for future plans?"
True crime exploration! More time/era jumping. I have two story ideas that I’m really invested in and as long as my brain cooperates, I’ll be able to get them both out in the next couple years.
24) " Choose- 'challenge' two writers that you want to know about to do this interview like you.”
honestlyharrystyles and JenYarrington
CRITICAL QUESTIONS
1)"What is something that you just recently realized that you are embarrassed you didn’t realize earlier?"
That the ‘Young’ in Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young is Neil Young LMFAO!
2)"What are some fun and interesting alternatives to war that countries could settle their differences with?"
Have we tried sitting in a meadow of daisies and playing “he loves me, he loves me not” yet? Or how about “Rock Paper Scissors”? ;)
Thank you so much peanutboyfriend !!❤❤
