1) "Name?"

Hii!

My name is "Thaline" - which is pronounced like "Thá lee ne".

You can call me "Thali". It's easier =)

2) "Age?"

28, according to my birth certificate.
65, according to my soul.
90, according to the pains all over my body.

3)" What are your hobbies?"

Besides writing, I like to do lettering and decorate my bullet journal. Sometimes I try to draw too, play a bit with watercolor but I'm horrible at that.

4) "When did you start writing and why?"

I always loved to read. When I was a child, I was the strange kid who spent their entire snack time at the school library. I read so many books during my childhood, but the first one I remember falling in love with was Meg Cabot's "The Princess Diaries", which I read when I was like 9 or 10. After that, I was always writing something. For a long period I wished to be an author, when was old enough.

5) "Which was your first story generally?"

I honestly don't remember. The first one I finished was a love triangle I wrote around 2011 / 2012, and the only person who read that was my best friend.
The first fan fiction I'd ever wrote was Temporary Fix, here on Wattpad, and the first fanfic that I finished - and started a sequel - was Opia.

6) "Do you write in some other website except Wattpad?"

Nope.

7) "What has given you motive to keep on writing?"

For me, writing is like therapy. Sometimes I use it to disconnect from my own, real life - not because I want to live what my characters goes through on the books, but mainly because when I write, I'm completely disconnected from my personal life and create something completely different.

But what really gives me REASON to write, are my lovely readers here. People here are just so amazing and supportive, and their excitement about my stories is what gives me motivation to keep going.

8 )"Have you ever wanted to give up everything? (writing I mean)"

Generally, no. I've gone through phases - before Wattpad, I usually wrote sporadically, sometimes taking more than a month to keep going with a story.
But after Wattpad, giving up doesn't even cross my mind. I love writing.

9) "Which is your favorite story on Wattpad?"

This is such a difficult question! I love so many books from here!
I love everything MysteryMixtapes write - like, really. I would probably fall completely in love with her grocery list.
I'm currently reading Aerial, by peanutboyfriend, and Birdie's way of telling a story got me completely stunned - I've never seen something similar, and I love it so much.

But there's a lot of other authors and books I love that are here on Wattpad, if I was to list all of them I would spend the entire day babbling here.

10) "Have you gained any friendship from Wattpad? If yes, which are your Wattpad friends?"

Yes!!! This place is a-fucking-mazing, it's actually almost unbelievable how can one community have so many nice people.
I feel like it would be unfair of me to try and list everyone that became part of my life thanks to Wattpad - also, my memory is terrible and I would probably forget someone, haha.

11) "Do you relate with any of your characters from your books? If yes, which one and which characteristics are similar?"

Yes, I think every character have a little part of me in them.
If I was to chose just one of them, guess relate the most with Billie - her goofy personality, always making fun of herself and how empathetic she is. The way she is always so invested on helping others and sometimes putting her own well-being aside in order to give all of herself for those who needs, it's very me.

12) "What did you study /are you studying/do you want to study?"

I studied Marketing at college, which is my official profession ever since I graduated.
I work at an advertising agency as a project manager.

I also did a few workshops about lettering, studied English for like 1 month then dropped the program because I didn't have the time to go to classes. (English is not my mother tongue - I'm Brazilian. Most of what I know is self-taught - that's why sometimes there's some grammar obscenities in my books, I'm sorry for that).

I would love to study more about creative writing. =)

13)" Describe yourself in 3 words."

Sarcastic, empathetic and goofy, I guess?

14) "What do you advise new writers?"

As my fellow advertisers who created Nike slogan would say: just do it.
Even if you don't have a clear timeline planned, even if you never did it before. If that's what you want, just go ahead and do it.
Write for yourself - something you would love to read, and trust your instincts. If you're lacking inspiration, try reading something completely new, maybe even a genre you never tried before. This could do wonders to your creative process.

Also, be kind to yourself about your writing. Everything is a process of learning, and nobody was born knowing about everything.

15)" Questions based on ' opia ' and sequel 'orphic' : How were you inspired to write this story?"

I was writing "Troubled" and "Temporary Fix" when the idea for 'opia' hit me. At the time, I was writing about two protagonists (Coco and Mia) which I wasn't fully connecting with, and I just wanted to write a character that had a line of thinking more alike my own.

Also, I was listening a lot to grandson and Landon Tewers, and their lyrics inspired me to create opia's Harry.

16)" Who's your favourite character in the book and why? "

It would sound narcissistic if I say it is Billie? As I said before, she has the parts of my personality that I like.
I also love Dom so much. <3

17)"Why did you decide to end the first book in that way?"

When I was writing about Billie's travel to England, I realized there was still such a long way down the road for Harry and Billie, so much I still wanted to tell about them, that I wouldn't be able to fit in just one book.

Also, I want to tell a story that is realistic - or as realistic as a work of fiction can be - and with everything that happened to Hillie (heh), I felt like they needed some time apart. They weren't ready to be together yet.

18)"If you were asked to publish your book , would you do it?"

I would love to.

19)"Which is your favourite a) funny, b) dramatic, c) romantic, d) sad scene in the book until now, from each book?"

Whoa, this is hard! I'm going to babble, so buckle up!

a) funny - even though I like to think Billie is a funny girl, there's not a lot of funny scenes in opia / orphic. I guess Harry looking for Callum under Billie's bed in opia. In orphic, would be the whole chapter where Billie met Rita, Charlie's friend, and kinda had a crush on her.

b) dramatic - definitely the scene where Cara told Harry she was pregnant, and the whole chapter that followed, focusing on Billie's reaction.

c) romantic - i think the morning after Harry and Billie had sex again after all those years. Is a Harry's POV, which for me are always the hardest ones, but I loved how it ended up being.

d) sad - oh, there was so much sad moments in opia (i'm sorry, i'm mean to my characters) but i guess the one which marked me the most was when Harry and Billie broke up at the end of opia. Or maybe the chapter where Harry finally opens up about his depression, when Billie and him are having a picnic at the park. I can't decide between these two scenes - both of them made me cry.  (it's like I enjoy hurting myself, tbh)

20) " A phrase or a scene that you write and you'll never forget.(and why)"

"There’s a difference between the love of your life and the love for your life. It may sound like the same thing, tomato-tomatoes, but it isn’t. For me, the love of your life is the person you will love the most in the world, the person that somehow you know is your other half, who completed you, makes you feel whole. But then, there’s the love for your life - the person that even though is not your fucking soulmate, it’s the right choice for you."

Because I felt so wise writing it xD

21) " How much time did it take to plan the whole plot? "

Oh, I don't know for sure but at least a month. I mean, I decided the main points of the whole plot in like a day or so, but to do all the research, write and rewrite, decide new paths, things I wanted to fit in along the story, things I liked but somehow wasn't right for the moment, etc. It took me a long time.

22)" How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?"

I'm not going to count the ones I started along the years when I was younger cause I sincerely have no idea.
Focusing only on Wattpad material - where I write in English - I recently had the idea for a new book, and I'm already gathering information, selecting characters and deciding the plot. I even wrote the prologue and chapter 1 because I was anxious to see how it would flow. It's not half-finished, but is half-started. Does it count?

23) In you books you refer to such sensitive subjects as depression and hysterectomy.  What message do you want to pass through that? Do you think that your books and the advice given indirectly through them could be able to help people, not because you're an expert or something but because that's just how you feel about these subjects?"

They say you should write about what you know.

I was diagnosed with depression in 2017, but even before that, depression was a constant in my life. My boyfriend has dysthymia, which is like a lighter but chronic kind of depression, and one of my best friends doesn't leave her house for about 3 years because of PTSD and panic attacks. Also, I feel like there's such a taboo around the subject that shouldn't exist in the first place - everyone got their issues, and we should all talk about it more frequently.

As you said, I don't think I'm some kind of expert on the subject - hell, I have a lot to learn about it -, but when I write about I'm also reflecting and organizing my own thoughts. And if the things I write can, somehow, help other people, it would mean the world for me.

24) "After the last few chapters I really don't know if Billie is actually ready to meet Noah, or if she'll ever be for that matter. That would be something to crush Harry. But as he always said his child over everything.  Will she warm up to the idea of him? And I mean not thinking of herself as his father's girlfriend. "

Guess you'll have to wait and see it ;)
But I'm going to give you a little spoiler: Billie loves Harry, and Noah is part of him, so she'll try to wrap her mind around getting to meet him someday. Maybe it will work, maybe it won't.

25) "Noah really needs to get away from his mother! This isn't not a question as much as a respectful request that many of your readers have. Please, give it to us! :) "

Ugh, to be honest, I hate Cara so much.
She is based in one girl that I actually met in real life, who got pregnant super young and let all the responsibility of raising a child on her mother's hands.
As I said before, I'm kinda mean to my characters, buuuuuut... Noah is just a baby. Maybe I'll be good to him ;)

CRITICAL QUESTIONS

So for 'critical questions' on my last interviews I decided to base them on a tumblr post I saw which made a question out if a Taylor Swift song, if that makes sense. For you I chose the album 'Lover' You don't have to know the song but just an information I wanted to add. And the songs for you are:

1) " Paper Rings: What are the books beside your bed (your favorite ones!)?"

I love everything Marian Keyes and Stephen King writes. So I would say:
Los Angeles, by Marian Keyes and Pet Sematary, by Stephen King (or maybe "It", I just love the book so much!)

And Harry Potter, of course. All the 7 books.

2) "Death By A Thousand Cuts: What movie has really stuck with you, emotionally?"

The Babadook, hands down. I think this movie is the perfect metaphor of what fighting against depression looks like. I love it with all my heart.
Also, "mother!" and "Hereditary". Both stuck with me for weeks after the first time I watched them.

(Yeah. Unlike Billie, I do love a good ol' horror movie).

Thank you for your time ohharderdaddyy!!!❤❤❤

All the love,
M.
