@crstlbtrfly

1) "Name? "

Crystal J Johnson or Crstlbtrfly

2) "Age?"

Forever 29

3) "What are your hobbies?"

Writing, reading and online shopping.

4) "When did you start writing and why?"

I’ve dabbled in writing since my late teens but became serious about it after writing my first 1D fanfic 2014.

5) "Which was your first story generally?"

My very first story was the Only Exception (a Harry Styles fanfic) that I wrote for my niece.

6) "Do you write in some other website except Wattpad?"

All my works can be found only on Wattpad, but I have two accounts @Crstlbtrfly for fanfic and @CrystalJJohnson for works outside of fanfiction.

7) "What has given you motive to keep on writing?"

I just love sharing the crazy stories inside my head, but on the days where I feel a little stumped it is the comments from readers that keep me going.

8)"Have you ever wanted to give up everything? (writing I mean)"

Nope. I’m constantly growing as a writer, and the only way I would give it up is when there is nothing new to learn.

9) "Which is your favorite story on Wattpad?"

1789 everlasts

10) "Have you gained any friendship from Wattpad? If yes, which are your Wattpad friends?"

Yes, I’ve made several friendships from Wattpad, but the most important one is my best friend @eternalfelicity.

11) "Do you relate with any of your characters from your books? If yes, which one and which characteristics are similar?"

I’m probably the closest to Quinn from the Affliction Trilogy. She is very level headed, but she is also secretly anticipating something bigger than the life she has been dealt.

12) "What do you want to study?"

Psychology and English

13)" Describe yourself in 3 words."

Dedicated, witty and compassionate

14) "What do you advise new writers?"

Never think that your work as a writer is done. It is a growth process and even when you are stumped with what to write next, you can still improve a story that you have already written. Write. Write. Write.

15)" Questions based on 'Affliction':How were you inspired to write this story?"

After reading an indie novel on Kindle, I realized I wanted to write an epic love story in a setting that the 1D fandom hadn’t really seen before. Most people don’t think of a zombie apocalypse as a great place to find love.

16)" What was your writing process in this book?"

I spent several weeks plotting all three books. I knew that I would have to have a firm grasp on where the story was going to go start to end if it was going to work. I’m a sucker for Excel spread sheets, so each character had a profile built and every chapter was completely thought out before I was finished with it. After that, it was a year of writing almost every single night until all three books were done.

17) " Does writing energize or exhaust you?"

A little of both depending on the day and how freely the scene is playing out in my head.

18) " Have you ever gotten writer's block? In which book and what happened for you to get over it?"

YES, and with every book. For me, I find that I’m stuck on wanting a scene to play out is a very specific way, but it is just not flowing with my characters. The moment I let it go and become open to a new approach, it all seems to get right back on course. Sometimes it doesn’t matter how you get there, just that you do in a way that is entertaining for the readers.

19) " Tell us something that nobody in your real life knows, something about the real Crystal!"

This is hard because I’m pretty much an open book. I guess that do well in social settings, but deep down inside, I just want to be by myself. I like being lost in my thoughts.

20)" Which was the most difficult and the easier scene of this book that you had to write?"

The easiest is the beginning of the book. It had been festering inside my head for weeks, so I was ready to let it spill out of me and get it on paper. The most difficult would have been the chapter when Harry comes clean about his motivation. It was raw and hurtful, and not only did it need to move Quinn but it needed to move the reader as well.

21)" Do you want each book to stand on its own, or are you trying to build a body of work with connections between each book?"

The three books have to be read in order if you really want to understand the characters and see the transformation they make from the beginning to the end.

22)" How many unpublished and half-finished books do you have?"

One. For years, I have been working on the prequel to Affliction, Forsaken. Getting inside Harry’s head and setting up the friendship of the guys feels almost impossible, because I know I’m going to have to rip it apart in the end.

23)" How long on average does it take you to write a book?"

Four to six months

24)" Any spoilers for future plans?"

Right now, I’m focused on getting the Affliction Trilogy published and working on a collaboration project with my best friend.

CRITICAL QUESTIONS

1)" If this was the last day of your life, would you still do the same things that you did today?"

Absolutely not! Today I was adulting and I much rather prefer to be outside with my friends and family.

2)" Do you think there's difference between living and existing?"

Yes. Existing is automatic… mind-numbing. Living is purposeful. It requires risk—to let the bad in with the good.

Thank you so much for your time crstlbtrfly.

Lots of love

M.
