Chapter 23: Negotiation
Sasuke's POV
"I have a bad feeling about that guy..." I said, scoffing.
"I've always had a bad feeling about him." Sakura answers, opening the door, "You wanna hang out?"
"Sorry, can't. I've got too much homework to do."
"So do I. How about tomorrow you tutor me?" She asks.
"I actually wanted us to go out tomorrow."
I notice the light blush on her face.
"I'm up for it. I guess I'll see you tomorrow." Sakura smiles.
I nod and lean down to her height and kiss her lightly. It's funny to think I have never kissed a girl before and she's never kissed a guy, yet we enjoy it. For all we know, we could be terrible kissers.
I pull away and her face is completely red. Nice to know I have that affect on her. Sakura smiles and shuts the door slowly. I breathe out and drive to my home.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
I live by myself in a huge mansion, which means I have to clean it on my own. Yep, today was cleaning day. While I have my yellow rubber gloves on, I wipe down every inch of the dusty counter tops. There is just so much dust. It's really gross.
The doorbell rings and I have no idea who could be here. Sakura couldn't have come. She has too much homework. I take off my rubber gloves and walk slowly and cautiously to the door. With hesitation, I open it up. My body stiffens when I notice a familiar face infront of me.
"Sasuke Uchiha, correct?" He asks.
"Deidara Haku, correct?" I snap.
He laughs lightly, "Smart boy. May I come in?"
What choice do I have anyway. He's extremely rich and powerful. He could do anything to take me down.
I keep my focus on him walking into my home, until I notice someone behind him. The other man has a black suit with a red tie, crimson hair, thick eyeliner, and a tattoo on his forehead. He looks very familiar. I bet he's from school a couple years back.
I avert my attention towards him and he doesn't hesitate to do the same. I lock eyes with him in an intimidating manner and he ignores it.
"May I sit, Mr. Uchiha?" Deidara asks.
"Go for it. Tea?" I ask in an irritated tone.
"What choice do you have?" Deidara smirks.
I clench my fists and my knuckles turn white. I nod and continue into my kitchen. Getting tea prepared, I think about why he could be here. Money? That's the only logical reason I can think of.
Once the tea is done, I carry the tray out into the living room and sit it on the coffee table.
"Thank you, young man." He says, as he grabs a tea cup and puts sugar in it.
"Silly me. I forgot to introduce my assistant. This is Gaara Sabuku."
He nods a hello and I do the same.
"So-" Deidara begins, until I cut him off.
"I don't mean to be rude Mr. Haku, but why are you here? Don't you have money to collect or gold to shine?"
He chuckles and puts his tea cup down, "Y'know Mr. Uchiha, just because I'm wealthy, doesn't mean I don't have a job to do."
"Really? I would expect your assistant to do all your dirty work. He is an assistant working for a powerful man afterall."
"Powerful? That can sometimes be a dangerous word."
"Not to you." I snap back coldly.
"Why so harsh. What did I ever do to you, Uchiha?"
"It's what you did to someone else that affected me in ways you don't know."
"Which cuts me right to the chase." He replies.
"What?"
"You see, every since Mr. Haruno passed away, it's been hard being the boss."
Haruno? Don't tell me he's talking about Sakura's father...
"With keeping the budget in check and managing the business, it's quite difficult. Mr. Haruno was very good at handling that kind of stuff. He did create the business on his own afterall."
"What does this have to do with me?" I ask.
"I've been working on a project."
"Project?"
"Yes, a project. One that will change everything..."
I don't like where this is going.
"People in need of a website aren't calling as much anymore like they used to when Mr. Haruno was around. Perhaps, not having a Haruno involved with this business is making the company lose money. And I can't have all my employees continuously get paid less than what they deserve."
I notice Gaara's eyes shift towards Deidara. Perhaps Gaara doesn't know about this 'project' of his.
"This is where I talk about Sakura Haruno." He begins.
My eyes widen at her name, until I squint them suspiciously at him.
"Mr. Haku, what are you planning?" I ask coldly.
"Glad you ask. You see, if I were to have a future web designer who is a Haruno be involved with the business, I'll get more business, because nobody wants to have websites designed by a company that has their name in vain."
"What, so you're going to offer Sakura a job?" I ask.
"No, she needs to be involved with the boss in some way. And that only way is marriage."
I gasp slightly at his words and I immedietly lean towards him.
"What are you saying?"
"Sasuke, I'm going to need you to break up with Ms. Haruno." He says smirking.
"Hell no. You can't just ruin a relationship with a snap of a finger."
"Oh, yes I can... With power. I have the money to take your family's fortune. You will have no way of getting into college, or getting a job at the least."
"Why are you doing this?!" I ask, getting up from my seat.
"That's just business."
"The hell with business! You can't make a young girl do something she isn't willing to do!"
"Oh yes I can. And you're going to help me."
"Never."
"Alright, I guess the famous Uchiha name will be extinct once I leave here. Your parents' death will be in vain and your brother will lose his job in the states. Is that a risk you are willing to take?" Deidara asks.
I stay silent and he sighs, "I guess that's a no." Then he walks towards the door.
"Wait."
He and his assistant turn back towards me.
"What do you want me to do?"
