Chapter 27

Michael's eyes followed me as I made my way out into our hotel room, his eyes landing on my hips as I made my way to get my heels. We were on our way to a New Year's ever party and he was pleasantly surprised when he saw me walk out in a short, dark blue dress. Michael and the whole band had been invited and he had immediately told the invitee that I was coming with them.
"You're not wearing black, what?" Michael asked, his eyes going wide but still scanning my body up and down.
"I decided to try something new," I said, shrugging my shoulders as Michael made his way over to me.
"You look beautiful, I'm so lucky you're mine," he whispered, pressing his lips to mine gently.
I pulled away, allowing our distance to increase and I went to grab my purse and my phone.
"Are you ready to go, babe?" Michael asked, he walked over and wrapped his arms around my waist making me smile widely at the boy next to me.
"Yeah, we can get going," I said and Michael smiled the same way I had earlier next to me.
"The boys and I agreed to meet in the hotel lobby in about ten minutes so we can just go now and wait a bit there," Michael explained, we made our way out of our room and went to the lobby. It was really empty compared to the other day when we had got here; I guess everyone was out partying.
We both sat down on the same chair and Michael started scrolling through Twitter, showing all the nice posts people were posting about us and how "#WeShipMophie" was trending. I was so glad the fans were happy with our relationship or at least the relationship they assumed we had since we hadn't come out as dating yet.
The boys had friends or potential girlfriends that had gotten so much hate that they didn't end up talking anymore and it really upset me that the girls had to stop talking to them because of mean comments from people that didn't truly know the girls or boys were saying. I truly think the only reason why most people are okay with Michael and I dating is because of the fact that we were best friends for so long before that.
"Oh my god, I thought you guys would be the last people down. Multiple times you both have been late to group activities because you guys were making out or God knows what."
We both looked up from Michael's phone to the familiar voice that was talking to us. Ashton was looking down as we say huddled on the couch and he had a small smirk on his face.
"Where are the others, Ash? Aren't you sharing a room with them?" Michael asked, looking to see if Calum and Luke were behind Ashton.
"They're going to meet us there. Luke has to go buy something at the store before they can go to the party," Ashton explained.
"So, it's just going to be us three until they meet us there?" I asked, just wanting a confirmation and I got it when Ashton nodded his head.
"We should leave now if we want to get there early enough and skip traffic," Ashton explained, all three of us left the lobby. It was a chill night but Michael placed his leather jacket on my shoulders making me not really notice the breeze.
His jacket smelled like vanilla and cinnamon, it was a comforting smell making me feel at peace even though I was really anxious for the party tonight.
The cab Ashton had ordered was waiting for us already and we all piled into the back, I in the middle seat since I was smaller and we were on our way to the New Years Eve party. I hoped I wouldn't be left alone.

Michael and I were sitting in the corner of the room, bored out of our minds. We had talked to a few people that Michael knew such as the guys from All Time Low, half of Sleeping With Sirens and even less of Pierce The Veil but other than that everyone was mainly a new face. There were a few others Michael had seen before but he wasn't exactly friends with those celebrities and he didn't exactly want to awkwardly go up to them and try and start a conversation. We hadn't really drank anything since it was still pretty early and it made the night even more boring. I think both of us were just ready to go to the hotel.
"Can we leave?" Michael asked, his grasp tightening around my waist.
"If you want, we can. I don't mind. There's a lot of people here and I don't exactly want to see them intoxicated," I said, shyly tucking my hair behind my ear. Michael soon followed and repeated my action by tucking the other side of my hair under my ear.
"Come on, let's tell Ashton we're leaving and we can go back to the hotel after we stop at a grocery story and buy champagne and other party stuff," Michael said, his grin growing as he pulled me over to where we last saw the guys.
Of course they were all there, but they were all borderline very, very intoxicated. Michael explained that they were leaving and they just giggled and nodded their heads towards us leaving. I don't think they really understood what we had said but they didn't seem to care.
Michael and I managed to call a taxi and made it to the street our hotel was on. I had my heels in one hand and Michael and I were holding hands, walking calmly to the grocery store a few buildings down. We wanted to buy actual, good alcohol and we were going to buy any other New Years decorations that we could.
It wasn't long until we got a few confetti poppers, two New Years tiaras that they sold for a dollar and a giant box of cheap sangria. We knew it wouldn't be the best but honestly we didn't care as long as we could at least get tipsy. I think spending New Years with my boyfriend would probably be the best thing of the trip so far.

Michael was sitting on the bed in just his boxers and so was I except I had one of Michael's t-shirts on as well. I was lying on top of him as we watched the TV screen, not really sure on what we were doing but we were content together. We had finished about half the box of sangria already and we were borderline on passing out. We didn't mean to, we just decided to watch High School Musical on Netflix and drink as much as we could during their songs. It wasn't the smartest idea but I mean we were in the comfort of our hotel room so I didn't think it'd matter that much.
"Babe, we have five minutes until midnight. We should get the confetti," Michael whispered, he lazily kissed my lips after talking and I allowed him to kiss me. It was kind of how we spent the night, very drunk and just lazily making out.
I stumbled out of the bed, tripping over a pillow and made my way to the bag that had our tiaras and confetti. It took me awhile to open the bag but I eventually got all of the stuff I needed.
Michael laughed as I threw the stuff onto the bed and stumbled back to where he was. There was only about a two minutes left until midnight now since It took me so long to get our stuff.
"Set up the timer on the camera for thirty seconds," Michael said, pointing towards the camera Luke had gotten me for my birthday. I wasn't that much into photography but I liked to use it while we were on vacation.
I quickly ran over, without a lot of coordination and managed to set up my camera at a decent pace. I was honestly confused on why Michael wanted to do this.
Michael placed the New Years tiara on his head and handed me over the crown. I placed it on my head as I sat down next to him. We had about ten seconds left and we were having our own small, very mini countdown.
"Five."
"Four."
"Three."
"Two."
A confetti popper went off.
"One."
Michael kissed me and the camera flash went off. His hands were on both sides of my face. My crown almost fell off my head by the amount of force he had used and we were very happy to be celebrating the New Year together. Nothing could've been more perfect.
Michael pulled away and walked over to the camera, looking at the pictures he had made me set up. Both of the pictures became my favorites of Michael I. They were the cutest think I had ever seen. There was confetti falling on top of us and you could clearly read the Happy New Years written on our crowns. It was at the point right before we were going to kiss and we were both smiling at each other. They second one we were actually kissing and we looked so happy to be together. Honestly, anyone to see it would think we were in love.
Maybe we were in love, I wasn't exactly sure just yet. We loved each other as best friends but I'm not exactly sure as boyfriend and girlfriend yet but I knew we'd be getting their soon. I was sure I'd be able to say I loved Michael soon. He means the world to me. I was so excited to fall in love with him and I couldn't wait to see that journey.
I was excited to see what was going to happen in the new year with my boyfriend and his friends and them touring. It was going to be great and I couldn't wait to see what adventures we had in store.
